Do you need to remove the cover?

Excellent point about making sure the rear fluid has the additive when your vehicle is equipped with Limited Slip Differential.

Cheap bastards at Dodge. A rubber plug instead of a proper metal filler plug.
Why remove the cover if you have a drain plug?

I'm sure there is a good reason to remove the cover. What is that reason?

Is it required to disassemble the rear differential cover, and having to remove, clean and install new cover gasket if there’s no leakage ?

If it is a posi or limited sip it is a good idea to inspect it tosee how much clutch material is in the bottom of the housing specially if it has a lot of mileage on it.

On a differential without a drain plug you usually remove the cover to drain. What is the purpose on this differential if the plugged drained 99% if the fluid? Unless you need to inspect something?

When I change mine I leave the cover alone.
