      @zebrin 4 ปีที่แล้ว +580

      It would probably boil down to uproarious laughter, or incoherent yelling. Possibly with some sobbing thrown in. Those scenes are meant to be as realistic as the "Hollywood hacking" scenes are. That is, not at all. They don't want people going out and trying what they saw in the movies and having it actually WORK after all.

    • @einstein951
      @einstein951 4 ปีที่แล้ว +313

      @@zebrin not even that. what would be enjoyable about watching a movie and having it be less suspenseful with "Oh, it's a Master Lock. Where's my comb pick..."

    • @swenmcheath1798
      @swenmcheath1798 3 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Keep at it! As soon as you get the hang of it on a see trough lock and open it a few times the rest is just repetition and developing fine motor skills. Look at the pin chambers while picking and try to learn how it feels when your pick touches the pins, watch how the pinstack reaches the sheer line and you feel it click into place, if a pin doesnt click try the next one as they dont necessarily click in order. If all pins are pushed down and the lock doesnt open try to carefully release a bit of pressure on the tensioning tool, some pins will either fall into their proper position or go back to their resting position and you can try those again. if that doesnt work start from the beginnig
      Just some things i noticed when i started picking, probably with the same cheap amazon pick and lock set that you have. I hope it helps

    • @cyrilio
      @cyrilio ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Have you been able to improve on your skills since you made this comment? I heard the see through locks aren’t the best/easiest for learning. It’s nice to see inside but actual locks feel different when picking.

    When I was a child my grandfather had a key somewhat like this, but it was meant to be used on a traditional skeleton key keyway.I suspect it could be easily defeated by someone as skilled as you but as a child I remember being fascinated by it. It went into the lock. You turned the lock to the locked position. You released a catch that allowed a smaller key set into the stem of the key to turn that removed the stem of the skeleton key leaving the head behind. I remember being charmed by it. locking and unlocking the head from the stem could keep me busy for hours. I sure it did not pose much of a challenge to defeat but to a six or seven year old child it was magical. Living in an older house in Brooklyn most doors were fitted with such keys and I dreamed of how I would lock my sister out of my room with it.

    • @jpe1
      @jpe1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s the hotel employees who *use* these lockout keys. When a guest doesn’t check out on time the hotel disables the lock, forcing the guest to pay for the extra day in order to get into the room and get their stuff back.

      LPL wants to remain anonymous but we know he is an attorney and we know were he practices, or at least we can narrow it down to two localities. But if he had a good picture up we could run it through Google images for a reverse ID and badda bam, we would have his name, home address, work phone number, girlfriend's cell #, etc. LPL is a smart dude.

      Since the lock pins trap the piece in the lock, it probably works well in apartment complexes. Average apartment dwellers probably don't have a clue what's holding the blocking piece in the lock and preventing them from putting their key in, much less how to pick the pins out of the way with a paperclip, so they can get it out.
