    We here in Vermont have used those screws,Have used self tapping sheet metal screws that work well too.And instead of duct tape we just use a worn out smaller tire "cut to fit" on the inside.makes the tire last longer and add weight for even better traction.

    FYI: A self-tapping screw is a screw that can tap its own hole as it is driven into the material. For hard such as metal or hard plastics, the self-tapping ability is often created by cutting a gap in the continuity of the thread on the screw, generating a and cutting edge similar to those on a tap.

    • @marvinkitfox3386

      No Carolyn. "Tyre" is the round rubber thing. "Tire" is feeling exhausted.

    • @edifyguy
      @edifyguy 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Not everyone who uses English spells everything exactly the same way. There are more than one correct spelling for many words, depending on where you live. Color/colour, tire/tyre, spelled/spelt, aluminium/aluminum, flavor/flavour.......
      Before you profess to be the one who knows everything about the English language, you really should learn that it is used somewhat differently from country to country. There are basically two standards: Imperial and American. There are some variations within those standards as well. Your sentence used no capitalization, a comma splice, and no end punctuation, on top of being factually wrong. No black guy is named Tyre; it's Tyree, and tyre is a perfectly acceptable spelling for that round rubber thing on your car.

      douglas carpenter you think this dude knows what self tapping screw is? I live in US so I know. These screws are obviously Western design, nothing like that was available in Soviet Union, so this all came from tge west. When Russians saw them, it was for them samorez, aka self tapping. They obviously never seen real self tapping ones, or only start learning whst it is, and for starters any screw from the west is self tapping lol. Give them time, they will get to learn what real western type self tapping screw is, or this dude is no carpenter and for him ANY wooden screw is just nicknamed samorez, aka self tapping. He probably is no woodman whatsoever

    Only in countries like Siberia or Russia could you do this... If you tried this in England "Hey, can we test our home made spiked racing tires?" - "Sure, provided you've filled out paragraph A) of section 37.C.1.A of the Article on Driver Vehicle Safety 1057, then bury the paper work in a hole, mark the coordinates and then send them to the health and safety office, they should get back to you within about 6 months but, most of the time it can take up to 5 years"

    why does no one know what a self tapping screw is?! Those are sheet metal screws. Point on the screw=sheet metal or wood screw. Drill point on the screw=self drilling screw. Serrated and tapered threads on the screw near the end=self tapping screw (it taps it's own threads in a pre-drilled hole hence "self tapping")

    guys like this so he can see! i got an upgrade to this!
    you can get steel mesh on rolls on ebay and stuff, cut it so it lines the inside of the tyre, screws through the mesh, and grab one of those wide rubber band like protectors you get in lorry steelies and stuff, adhesive that over, fit inner tube and tyre and inflate BEFORE THE ADHESIVE SETS!
    when you do that, the screws will be supported in the carcass through the mesh, so you could push it a lot harder and not worry about it. it lasts a lot longer.
