Wish the aggradons had been in the box instead of raptadons as a throwback to the old starter set with warriors and knights.
I have NEVER been more hype for a release!!! And I won't be until when/if they redo Skaven! Soooo jealous you got it early, thanks for the review Shoe!

I decided it was finally time to begin an AoS army and this box (plus a box of skinks and a fine-cast slaan starseer) will be my starting 1000 point list. So this box works pretty well for me.
Excited to get the Kroxigor and Aggradon lancers as they are released.
Nice review. Personally I'd just proxy Saurus Knights as the Lancers, maybe change the bases if they're larger.
I've also used my Skink Priest models as Starpriests since day 1 ^^
I feel like the size of the base and models will be similar to the new skink chicken riders, so that's what I'm thinking of proxying my (five) saurus knights as, since I do like how I painted them up
Tbh it sounds like almost everything they sunset can be a proxy for something else if you're willing to alter some bases. Like no one is going to mind you using a Salamander for a Spawn of Chotec.
I bought the 2 old start collecting boxes for Seraphon just to get some neat models ready before they released the new stuff.
Looking forward to giving this army a shot.
I bought one. Lustria-online has some converting tips to get the most out of that box. I'm making an extra Trog, 2x Lancers (I'll 3d print some bigger dinos and need new bases) and an astrolith bearer. I'll use the cold ones for my catachan as rough riders.
Can't wait to pick mine up on Saturday!
No mention of a new Saurus Guard was really made, so as far as I'm aware, they're not touching them for now (which is a shame). They and the regular Skink cohorts could really use a tune up. It's a pity they couldn't spring for it, cuz that would've set Seraphon up for another good long while if they did.

Finally finished up my Christmas boxset and broke into the box, got a question can you make that Slann hanger on Skink into anything fun? Like a separate Star priest or anything?

Yeah half my 1k team was wiped from the rule book. Since they were kitbashed and 3d prints though I'm just going to run them under different warscroll. Gave me an excuse to get a bastiladon though to fill out the absence of stuff like my Sunblood and Eternity Warden. Thanks for the video it was helpful!

Glad I held out from buying Seraphon. Don’t see the point of starting an army with decade old models. Sucks I have to wait a week to get my until my store gets its preorders in.
Certainly enjoyed this review, it would be good to hear more from you in the future! I preordered the set this morning, haven’t collected Seraphon (Lizardmen) since the mid/late 90s. Any recommendations for what to add next?

Some basics: Skinks & Saurus are a good start. From there at least one Slann and then dive into the big dinos. Variety is served well in this army.
Skink starter set is full of essentials, except for the pterodactyls

I literally finished some Knights for my daughter's army right before they started announcing new Seraphon. I fully intend to run them as Aggradon Lancers, as they are essentially the same thing, mounted Saurus with Spears and shields. Might have to do something about the ones with the clubs/axes.
Had just kitbashed her a razordon and a Skink Priest, but hadn't finished those, thankfully.
One unit she really wanted was Chameleon Skinks, so I bought those a good while back. Will probably just run them as Hunters, even if we get the nice, new models.
Almost flipped when I heard the saurus knights were gone. Lancers I'm good with tho.

i have 16, from 2 starters like 99% seraphons players im sure, of course will play them as agradons
GW absolutely loves foot heroes. I can see a new or an equivalent to a Eternity Warden or Sunblood or a just a totally new foot hero on release of Seraphon 4th edition book or in Underworlds/Warcry.
Those models are all now basically just Old bloods or Scarvets so rather than having 3 rubbish heroes it's 1 hero type with various models with decent stats and abilities
Kinda sucks we're losing Chameleon Skinks. They are incredibly versatile units and losing our light artillery options sucks too. Feels like we're being pushed to play them one and only one way for right now.
Subtitles were on when I clicked and it was hilarious. 'Warscrolls' was displayed as 'worst girls'.

i rebased my Sauros Knights and use them as aggradon lancers. Haven't seen a cop eying me yet.
At the end of the day it's GW and you've got to decide if they're the company you want to give your hobby bucks to.
Just rebase saurus knights of the base size is different and run them as aggrodons

The spawn of chotek is much larger, and so are the aggradon lancers. You could probably proxy them but the salamanders at least are much smaller.
I'll be honest I'm confused why the Saurus Guard stayed.

@@chlorarthur9638 We thought the same! The Weapons and Shields for Saurus in the new kit is on a different sprue. It's possible that Guard will have a new weapon sprue and that will be enough. We will have to see!
Because lately gw is moving away from dual kits and since they didn't remake them the old kit stays for now

I'm really disappointed by the "new direction" that Games Workshop is taking with their books. I understand that there needs to be updates to the line (a lot of it IS resin, after all), but this seems excessive.
Squatting 1/5 of the model line, especially the most-played models from the old book? Not cool, GW. Basically this is a naked cash grab, designed to make you (the player) rush out and buy all their new crap just to be able to field a viable Seraphon army in matched play. Their strategy is painfully obvious when looking at the new Slaan. They changed the base size - why? To incentivize you, the player, to buy their new stuff at their outrageous prices rather than "fix" base sizes for all your old stuff.
The new models look cool, I won't deny that. I'd just rather that GW made cool, unique rules to go with their new models rather than forcing people to buy them. Some players don't have the option of playing a different army or buying a bunch of new stuff. They simply can't play with the current ruleset anymore. Sure, you can play with "old rules" and "old points", but that requires a really chill opponent and it becomes less and less viable as time passes.
It's really sad what GW did to Seraphon. Instead of new models for older warscrolls, they just threw them out. I'm sure they'll make plenty of money off this, but not from me.
I don't disagree that discontinued models are painful, I have a ton of Wood Elves in permanent retirement.
In a lot of respects, we got what you are asking for. Still lots of old stuff to be proxied as new things. I know I'm hanging onto my Sunblood as a Saurus hero. It's a lizard with a shield :)
Personally I feel a lot better about this than I do the wood elves - these Seraphon models were pretty darn old and the new stuff is very rewarding for the collector / hobbyist in me.
As I said in the review it would be cool to have a really stable rule set to pull from for using discontinued models in open play.
It might be up to us as a playerbase to build and sustain such a thing.
I'm actually glad the Skink Priest is gone, because honestly? That unit shouldn't have existed in the first place. Back in Warhammer Fantasy there was just one unit called the Skink Priest, and it was your wizard model. It had a good looking plastic model and some not-so-good looking older models. Then in Age of Sigmar for some reason they decided to split it up into two units, the new model becoming the Skink Starpriest who was a wizard and the old models becoming Skink Priests who were just a priest. The whole thing just felt unnecessary and redundant.
People need to stop WHINING about cold one Saurus knights being gone. Those were one of the oldest, ugliest kits in Warhammer history. Can you imagine if they kept them around and showcased them in this new book next to the amazing new kits?? Yeah right. Let go of the past. Let go of ugly ancient kits. Good riddance!
A little sympathy goes a long way. These are still on store shelves, some people are just starting their collections, I think its understandable that people would be bummed about that.
