Yeah, Saurus Knights are a pretty bad kit. Nothing fits right, the riders look old, and the cold ones look so bad compared to the Drakespawn Knights (also riding cold ones)!
This is really interesting, I've been getting back into the hobby after fantasy died and the commonly held wisdom of the Seraphon/Lizardmen community is that coalesced are more powerful for competitive play. I thought this was interesting given that starborne teleport just seems insane! Great to have options though, had nearly 5000 points in the old days so I reckon i can make it up as I go. Really enjoy your content mate, thankyou for the video
really? no one on lustria seems to think that. even hard core thunder lizards think star born is the better option since with coalesced 2 out of 4 of their allegiance abilities are useless or detrimental and scaly skin only does things when fighting 4ish armies.
You didn’t have to talk about how indigenous cultures were conflated when they designed the Realmshaper Engine, but you did anyway. That’s really cool of you.
Hey that's a good idea for a tier list video :P Easiest to paint "to learn the basics on" - as in not like 'easiest to paint if you're bare-bones lazy', which would be nighthaunt or sylvaneth - but easiest for a new person who wants to learn stuff. I'd float Nurgle and KO up there as well.
Could you explain more why Seraphon are like Starcraft units? I didn’t quite follow you on that one lol. I’m thinking about them as an alternative to my first choice, Lumineth, as they seem way cheaper with some excellent Start Collecting, and they were my second favorite faction in Fantasy behind High Elves... their mechanics and play style sound really cool here. Some of the models I’m not a huge fan of, but Skinks, Stegadons, Slann, and other heroes look cool enough anyway.
Mostly that you're choosing specialized units to fight or counter what you expect your opponent to have / sending the right ones out to do particular jobs. As opposed to having an obvious core that you build a strategy around like witch aelves or hearthguard.
HeyWoah oh ok, that actually really appeals to me as having depth for list building strategy is a part of Wargames that definitely appeals to me, like most factions in 40k have.
HeyWoah oh and is it viable to be using both Skinks and some Saurus say like Guard or is it better to put your eggs in one basket to best exploit buffs? I’d prefer to use skinks as my main battle line group and then some Saurus Guard (I like the models)/knights as well but was wondering if that would stretch my buffing too far. I’d probably start with the Start Collecting Skinks! Box if I decided to do Seraphon over Lumineth, which are much more pricey money wise.
Would you mind explaining the bastiladons save again? My understanding of it was that your save was basically a 2+ even when getting hit with rend one. So you roll saves against an attack with no rend, and you need 2s because 1s fail, but if you’re hit with rend 1 you still need 2s as your save stat is 1. Is this right or have I completely misunderstood?
HeyWoah right ok! Thanks for clarifying that paragraph didn’t help and couldn’t wrap my head around it when you were explaining it in the video either haha
Can anyone tell me where it's stated that wound transfers still stack with ward saves as per the new rules? And is it just for seraphon or are all wound transfers stackable with ward saves?
I don't know 40k lore, but there is a similarity - I suspect it might be the seraphon copying "the old ones" and that those guys have the necron connection, if any.
@@HeyWoah The Slann mage priests were made in the image of the Old Ones to help them govern reality on the Old World. 40k just has the Old Ones, who made the orks (then the Krork, or biological weapons) and Eldar to help them fight the Necrons and the C'tan star gods about 60 million years ago in the War of the Heavens before current warhammer 40k. :D
Both MtG and AoS have significant luck factors in them. In your opinion is one of them more problematic to the core of the game? Does one of them express itself in a way that's less "feel bad"?
I think it depends a lot on what each person would consider feel bad. I know that jp ganis has done some interesting math on AOS ELO under various results factors and the better player irrespective of good or bad matchup seems to win 60% of the time, whereas the stronger faction in a matchup regardless of skill only wins 40% of the time. And in games where there is more than a 15% delta of player skill the better player wins 90% of the time. I don't have MtG stats like this offhand, but I would suspect that matchup and deck choice plays a larger role.
@@HeyWoah I guess maybe the feel bads for me come from not being able to play the game. You flood out, you have nothing to do, for example. If you roll poorly in AoS you're still playing, I guess? Moving units and making choices? So maybe for me AoS would be less feel bad.
Right as the pandemic hit, I impulse bought the two seraphon starter boxes because dinos on dinos. Imagine my surprise when I find out they're hella dope
I actually think with the new battletome the Dread Saurian isn't bad. It used to be trash, but it's rules update was one of the most dramatic in the entire army. 35 wounds, 4+ save that you can easily buff up to a 3+, and in coalesced you have 4 attacks dealing a flat 6 damage each. You will also ruin anyone that isn't battleshock immune in the battleshock phase. He also dishes out a ton of mortal wounds on a charge, and when he dies, and can ignore enemy spells. He can also make a very very effective distraction carnifex. He's such a rare model, that people don't know what he does, and just assume they need to focus him down.
I think that last part is the strongest case for him. I don't find his numbers and abilities leaning towards being particularly great at any job, exactly, but you will be able to capitalize on opponent confusion. Distraction Anvil imo.
My recordings end up at about -8db from -12 rec after adding 6-8 gain. If I pump it any higher the distortion becomes too noticeable. I'm playing them back on desktop at like 20% volume and it's loud, and on phone at 80% volume. Are you listening on a taptop? That's the one medium I can't test on since I don't have one.
Hey HeyWhoa, I've liked this video very much, as it gives me just another damn good reason to re-base all of my old Lizardmen minis to use them in AoS. I couldn't think of another war scroll that had a 1+ armor characteristic naturally - which one did?
@@HeyWoah there isnt nat 1+ armor, but the rules work the same way with the 1+ wound manticore claws.
@@HeyWoah Manticore. It didn't have it as a save but it had 1+ to wound. Back when AoS dropped there was also some obscure chaos hero that hit on 1+ but can't remember which one it was.
@@ShenanigansFox Not as far as I can see. If you gave manticore claws -2 to wound from debuffs, they would fail on 2s. Which is different than bastiladon armor. If it worked the same, manticore claws would be unmodifiable either as warscroll note or FAQ/designer's commentary, but there's no such notes.
Mayan dinosaurs riding dinosaurs who came from space to kill demons.
There, that’s all you need to know.
Idk what I did wrong with my saurus knights, everything was cut and smoothed correctly but the riders still can't sit right on their mounts.
A heywoah army video? My day is made.
Why can't krox fight in 2 ranks? 50mm with 2" range means fighting in two ranks, doesn't it?
Oh pardon me! They indeed can
Thanks for thos summary. Didn't follow AoS post oldhammer end times. Interesting to see the rules development.
we need an update of this video with the new models
Great review! I would really love to see the same coverage of Tzeentch, I'm Just Getting Started. Thank you!
Great video as always. Looking forward to the BoC faction focus!
It's kind of a savage roast that SEGA and Creative Assembly can come up with better models for Lizardmen then Gdubs has in decades.
You didn’t have to talk about how indigenous cultures were conflated when they designed the Realmshaper Engine, but you did anyway. That’s really cool of you.
It's also not a bad thing - taking two inspirations and blending means you may expose someone to either or both. Cultures are neat.
Hey @HeyWoah you said Seraphon are in the top three easiest to paint. What are the top 3 easiest to paint?
Hey that's a good idea for a tier list video :P
Easiest to paint "to learn the basics on" - as in not like 'easiest to paint if you're bare-bones lazy', which would be nighthaunt or sylvaneth - but easiest for a new person who wants to learn stuff. I'd float Nurgle and KO up there as well.
@@HeyWoah Now that you mention it. A painting tier list dose sound like a great VID! :D
@@briancline7349 They mix well
Would you mind explaining the bastiladons save again? My understanding of it was that your save was basically a 2+ even when getting hit with rend one. So you roll saves against an attack with no rend, and you need 2s because 1s fail, but if you’re hit with rend 1 you still need 2s as your save stat is 1. Is this right or have I completely misunderstood?
While its save characteristic is a 1+ it ignores rend. Once it charts to be worse than a 2+ naturally, then rend works normally.
HeyWoah right ok! Thanks for clarifying that paragraph didn’t help and couldn’t wrap my head around it when you were explaining it in the video either haha
Hi is it possibility to see Ogormawtribes why play, soon?
Can anyone tell me where it's stated that wound transfers still stack with ward saves as per the new rules? And is it just for seraphon or are all wound transfers stackable with ward saves?
All wound transfers stack with wards because they do not "negate" - which is what the special rule restricts.
Croaks magic making it to the real world pfffffffft
Amazing!
Are the Seraphon the precursors to Necrons? The "ancient technology" looks an awful lot like the Necron ships...
Bruh this series is sick
Great video as always! Very informative and it made me consider starting Seraphon.
Another great video! I can't wait till you start doing chaos
the paint guide for the carnosaur where is this from ?
6:29 finecast that's why
@S R yes
Right as the pandemic hit, I impulse bought the two seraphon starter boxes because dinos on dinos. Imagine my surprise when I find out they're hella dope
I’m new but it’s pretty obvious you know your shit. Funny and informative!
Will you be doing a Tzeentch focus?
This convinced me to start a lizardman army
Salon have always be borken and i love them.
Could you increase the overall volume of the videos? I have every setting at max and its still hard to hear your speak
HeyWoah maybe. But don’t worry about it, I found out there were bush living inside my speakers and blocking sound. It’s better jow
This is seriously giving me Chrono Trigger 65,000,000 BC vibes. I don’t play AoS but I’m leaning towards “yes” now
Could still use some more dinosaurs, like a Pachy for a battering ram, or a Bronto for a siege tower.
I 3D print the entire roster from OnePageRules. Some amazing talent over there. Once you figure out the correct scaling they work great with AOS.
Hey HeyWhoa, I've liked this video very much, as it gives me just another damn good reason to re-base all of my old Lizardmen minis to use them in AoS. I really hope that the new cham skink from Underworlds is soon out. Btw, have you seen the new Rumour Engine? It looks like there's a new Beastclaw mini o n the horizon + Vulture :D
Bonus points for Wolverine incorporation
I can feel the production value.
I've tried to increase the recording quality and consistency as well - it bothered me in earlier videos.
HeyWoah not at all a dig. I really enjoy your content. I don’t play AOS, however I do have quite a large amount of the previous Slaves to Darkness models that I got for super cheap since they were old. Keep up the good work.
I'm super happy, that I found your channel! 😊👍👏👏👏👏
Nice work. Lookin forward to the next one.
honestly just commenting to try and boost this video, keep up the fantastic work we are not worthy
I just wanna get some of these, just to paint.
B--buh-but what about Bastilodon with Ark of Sotek? :(
The mighty frog must be satisfied
Can't wait for the rest of the Faction Focus. Hoping Seraphon get new models though and maybe Ardboyz getting an update too.
Saurus knights looks so derp :ccc but this is definitely the army I wanna build
Saurus Knights + Koatl's Claw + Starpriest = PAIN TRAIN
Choo Choo!!
Where's my new Saurus models >:(
