Thank you for the video, I think I am having a tie-rod issue on my Saturn and now I know that the process isn't too hard to do by myself.

Original Inner TR head is covered w/white plastic sleeve (2003 Chevrolet cavalier). Should I cut it off, or just apply the wrench around it? How was it torqued down w/that sleeve? Thank you for the film.

Thanks! Incredibly helpful. I got under my 96 sc2 and didnt know about the plastic cover over the grooves to remove it.... after about 20 mins i gave up not know in it needed to be slid back :/ fortunately the sound i was hearing only came from my outer but its good to know how to change the inner!

Could you tell what did you add on the thread of the inner tie rod before installation?

Been a while since I've looked at this video, believe Moog provided a small packet of threadlocker, Loctite 272 for the inner tierod.

@@jungleking007Channel Thanks a lot, so it was a threadlocker. I have a blue one, but ordered already Loctite 272 (red), I noticed there was the trace of red color on the inner tire-rod thread. Blue I think won't be strong enough. Sorry for another question, but do you happen know the torque specification for that end of the inner TR, which goes towards the car, which you removed with the special tool. At least approximately. Or maybe you can tell what would be another name for the "steering rack body" where the inner TR is attached? I'm trying to determine the torque specifications for the inner tie rod (the end that goes towards the car) and can't find in the book (Haynes). There is no name as "steering rack body". Probably there is a synonym for it. Thank you for the film again, seems every time I watch it I learn a new technique.

Do you need to apply any lubricant inside of the boots (where they contact with the IT Rod)? For rubber protection. Something like Red Rubber Grease or Silicon Grease. Thank you for the film again, really good and informative.

No, not in the tierod boots. CV joints yes, but not this application. The boots are there simply to keep debris out of the exposed rack teeth.

@@jungleking007Channel Thank you for the replay. I cured the boots with 303 Aerospace Protectant (fm Amazon), they look like new. It also protects plastic and rubber, but it is not grease. It is applied and immediately is wiped out giving shiny look. So I won't apply anything else.

wanted to ask if the part where the tie rod end screw in at is stripped wat is it that I need to replace the part where it's stripped at

I have a 2004 Saturn Vue truck and my tie rod end keeps popping out and I ts the putter one that keeps popping out where it screw in at

You mean Outer Tie Rod? If so, it screw in to the Inner Tie Rod. If it is stripped, it should be replaced, not really hard, but you need to have that tool he is using in the film. To remove I used PB Blaster Penetrating (without it I couldn't), I applied on one for 1 hour, and it came off, and on another like for the night time, it was easier to remove. Some people remove it with heat (bcs it could be Red Thread locker on that thread).
