I didn't have insurance or have a flight home, took £800 with me but luckily managed to get a job within 3 days of arriving in Sydney and made it work! I had to work hard for a good 2 months to get on my feet though but was really glad I done it. Best experience of my life & highly recommend it to anyone! (going to Aus that is, not going to Aus with only £800 ha!)
Hi Stef, just a quick question on how you got the whv as they ask you to provide your bank details and recommend that you have 5k ausd in the application. Thank you in advance for your time and hope for a quick reply 🙏 😊
So you applied with only 800 and they apprived you for the visa? Because I'm saving up for the $5000 AUD so I can apply when I have enough but do I not have to wait till I have that much?
Lol! Okay thankfully you had answered a question I had😅😅, so as long as you have over draft protection, that's considered funds! Very good to know haha, that just reduced tons of stress on my end
Thank you so much for this informative video! I've had the question of whether I could survive on the $5000 until finding a job. I now feel confident that would be enough for my plan. THANK YOU! I've seen so many different amounts people have taken and this has made my life so much easier thank you so much!
Another super informative and helpful video, Dain! I'm looking forward to your content each week. Your videos are fun, inspiring, and motivating. Please keep going! :)
After your visa is approved how much time do you have to move? Is there a time window? I don't want to apply to early and regret it for whatever reason later
Great video. A lot of info. Basically, have lots of extra cash so you can have a good holiday. I've lived in Sydney for 44 years and the increase in the cost of living can shock if one is not prepared.
The high vegetable prices were because a lot of market-garden farms lost crops from record high rains and floods especially in NSW. I’ve never seen fresh food inflation as bad as this, including during the fires and covid. It’s been a wild few years.
Thank you sm for putting out this video! I'd like to see some recommendations on Cairns hehe (I'm heading there for my WHV next year!). Do you know if it is as expensive up there as well, even for someone who is planning on finding work straight away? Have an awesome weekend :)!
Your welcome 🤗 oooo I actually have a video on Cairns this Friday 🕺 I’d say Cairns is less expensive than Sydney but Australia in general is quite expensive 😳
Love your videos already im just unsure about something though regarding health insurance the one you mentioned will this cover any gp appointments in Australia will it be the same level of care as in the UK?
a very helpful video, thanks Dan! im just wondering if you know the usual process /docs required to rent a room / flat in aus? do they use rental agreement? and if there is anything to take note of?
Hey going to Austrália soon, how can I find the 88 days works jobs? I’m going to spend a week in Sydney to get some things solved but after that I need to go to a cheaper city, what do you think of Cairns, Adelaide and Wollongong? Thanks
Hi great video. Do you have to do farming work with the work and holiday visa, or can it be any type of job? Also, can you apply if you're 34 and live in the UK? Thanks
I was just booking my hostel then you put this up lol I'm going in March I'll have around 19 k australian dollars do you think that's more than enough to relax before working also want to go thailand for a month then back to aus I don't drink alcohol ect
$5000 AUS is about £2800 ! So if you wanted to travel for a few weeks and have enough for accomodation before working I think that’s perfect! You’ll be surprised how expensive it is 😅
What about filing for taxes as a freelancer? Is digital nomad work even allowed on a WHV? As I understand it, you’re supposed to be limited in what fields you can work.
So Means that , aud5000 is just a roughly but in fact we need more than that ?? If yes , what amount would u suggest let’s say the very first or 2 month unable / yet to secure any job while accommodation n daily food is a must spent😅 Thanks much for this video
Can the proof of funds be my father's bank account and how old would you suggest it to be on the safe side? Please note I cannot have 5000 AUD in my bank account as I am being sponsored.
People are horrible with money and can't budget for a monthly bill turn around, and also, If you offer a monthly pay cycle to an Australian resident, nine times out of ten they will tell that employer to get fucked.
Thank you so much dain , I have watched all your videos all day on my day off you are so helpful! Do you have Instagram for us all to follow would love to see your daily updates over in the down under! Xx

@@tvetenomeister7018 If you have a credit card or overdraft with any balance on there, thats also classed as funds you have access too.

Thanks for watching ! That’s a hard question to answer people come with such different amounts 😂 but yeah I’d say 5k minimum!
Food is cheaper in the suburban stores of the same supermarket chains. Prices around the city centre are higher.
You know I’ve since moved to Wollongong and found the food WAY cheaper here i was so limited in the city 🙌🏻

I’m considering doing a WHV in Australia next year but I’m very nervous and unsure 😂
The high vegetable prices were because a lot of market-garden farms lost crops from record high rains and floods especially in NSW. I’ve never seen fresh food inflation as bad as this, including during the fires and covid. It’s been a wild few years.
ah that explains it! this happened as I moved here so I was shocked at the price of food! thanks for watching Mike!

Great question ! I have a series coming out over the next month all about moving to Aus in more detail 😃
@@DainLuka thats great! cant wait! thank you ☺
Good insider!! Thank you! Im having an indecisive thought of choosing which WHV to apply, NZ or Aus.. any help? 😅
Both ? 😂 I had this same decision to make I only went with Aus as NZ wasn’t open at the time
Did you have to show proof of return flight ?great video:))
Nope not needed 😊

6 weeks traveling does not qualify you to judge how moch money somwone needs.
Thanks for watching 🤩 Ok please share your thoughts then? I’ve spent over 2 years travelling Aus so I think I know 👀
What is the best way to find a job? And how did you find yours? 😊
Hi great video. Do you have to do farming work with the work and holiday visa, or can it be any type of job? Also, can you apply if you're 34 and live in the UK? Thanks
Don't have to do farming work anymore. It also can't be any job. Can't apply over 30.
@justbradley5930 thank you for your reply. I'll just wait till i turn 35 as I still have that option as a UK citizen based on the immigration website.
I was just booking my hostel then you put this up lol I'm going in March I'll have around 19 k australian dollars do you think that's more than enough to relax before working also want to go thailand for a month then back to aus I don't drink alcohol ect
Thanks for watching :) that is plenty of money to have a great trip!
Hi, did you look for and apply for jobs before you moved there? If so, where did you look? Really hoping to do this after this summer
I reached out for jobs before hand but you can start looking when you get here too :)
I am thinking to move permanent in Australia. Is it hard to get sponsorship visa?
@5:55 have you ever used your insurance?
If yes, what happened? Aka what for?
LUCKILY NO. but they have just changed it so if you do claim there is zero excess !
Did you start applying for jobs before moving there? How did you go about it? Thank you!
wondering the same!
5000 for the first weeks or a month ? jeezus heading there soon but boy id not want to burn through it so quickly...
$5000 AUS is about £2800 ! So if you wanted to travel for a few weeks and have enough for accomodation before working I think that’s perfect! You’ll be surprised how expensive it is 😅
What documents do I need to bring along while traveling on a working holiday visa?
None. Your visa is linked to your passport!
What about filing for taxes as a freelancer? Is digital nomad work even allowed on a WHV? As I understand it, you’re supposed to be limited in what fields you can work.
I did this recently you just have to apply for an ABN to pay taxes as a freelancer it takes 5 minutes 😊
@@DainLuka Thanks, that’s actually a huge weight off my mind!
Is it hard to get a job? And what city is your favorite?😍
I love Wollongong which is where I’m living :)
What app do you use to book your flights?
usually i look at sky scanner to compare prices but then book direct with the airline :)
Do they have a farmer's market in Sydney?
Yes so many ! I love glebe markets and kings cross markets on a Saturday 😀
Can you study with working holiday visa?
So Means that , aud5000 is just a roughly but in fact we need more than that ?? If yes , what amount would u suggest let’s say the very first or 2 month unable / yet to secure any job while accommodation n daily food is a must spent😅
Thanks much for this video
It’s honestly hard to say ! My advice would just be save as much as you can for what you need 😊 thanks for watching !
Can the proof of funds be my father's bank account and how old would you suggest it to be on the safe side? Please note I cannot have 5000 AUD in my bank account as I am being sponsored.
Im 95% yes as long as you have access to $5000 that counts!
How old maximum should the bank statement needs to be i.e. 3 months, 6 mothhs etc? What would you suggest?@@DainLuka
After your visa is approved how much time do you have to move there? Is there a time window?
No I'm pretty sure you have the entire year to enter from the date you bought it and then your visa will start from the date of entering the country
You have 1 year to enter and activate the visa !
You’re still there? You flying alone
People are horrible with money and can't budget for a monthly bill turn around, and also, If you offer a monthly pay cycle to an Australian resident, nine times out of ten they will tell that employer to get fucked.
Hello 👋
Thanks for watching !
Do you need to have at least 500 AUD? What happens if you have less?
$5000 minimum to apply for the visa but if you can bring more so you don’t have to worry !
Thanks so much for watching guys 🙌🏻 if you are coming to Aus make sure you do this trip in Cairns th-cam.com/video/LH9KLn3n55I/w-d-xo.html 🇦🇺
