As an arborist, I always appreciate seeing old chainsaws restored. Not a big fan of using old saws (the lack of antivibration features can damage your nerves, many older saws like this had manual oilers that you had to pump with your thumb to keep oil on your chain, plus they are made of mostly metal with little to no plastic.. while that might seem like a good thing it more than doubles the weight which can be tiring when using one all day.)
If I was guessing, that looks like an early 80s model Jonsered 361 chainsaw. There are pictures of it online if you want to try to restore it to a like new finish or if you need to order specific parts for it in the future.

I lost my dad when I was 28, and inherited many of his tools, and started to care for them. I struggle still with small engine maintenance, and I know what it means to get his tools up and running again. When that chainsaw cranked and came to life, I shared in your joy, and began to tear up a bit. It is a wonderful feeling. Thank you for making me feel that, and thank you for documenting this project. Happy tree felling!

There's something very fulfilling and calming in restoring things your parents owned. Like getting a bit more closure in a way. I learned that while keeping my dad's car running after I inherited it and renovating the house I grew up in, which he and mom bought in the early nineties in a very, very sorry state.
Even listening to my father's instruments being played by some of his old orchestra buddies when I rent those trumpets to them feels bittersweet, yet great.
Recently my boyfriend adopted my father's old Motorcycles (A Honda Twinstar - which is fine, only needs some love and paint - from 1981 and a NSU Superlux from 1953 which is in pretty good shape all things considered, but is currently being taken apart completely and being rebuilt) and THAT seems to be the pinnacle to all. When the NSU is finally running and I have my biker's license, many happy tears will be shed.
Long story short: so great to see this old tool getting the love it deserves, and great seeing how it serves as a beautiful connection between Jake and his dad :)

Joseph Palma I thought it was confirmed he was leaving a long time ago? I could be wrong, but I remember that video saying it was around now he’d be leaving for good

0:26 I'm sorry for your loss Jake. Based on his offspring, I can tell he was a kind, wise and loving father.
(I feel condolences are never too late to share. As they are a form of care and respect; two qualities that don't dilute with time.)

No joke this video made me cry, I lost my dad when I was 27 and it's funny how things that didn't seem that important growing up acquire meaning when you lose someone. It's like every object is that much more special just because of your memories of that person tied to that object. I'm sure you made your father proud.

As engine work goes, chainsaw are the best projects to start with when learning how to service and repair engines. Amazing job too, especially for your first time. All that’s left left now is to sharpen the chain. 😁 Glad you were able to take pride in knowing YOU were the one who fixed your Dad’s favorite tool. Love the vids guys, hope to meet you all someday!
