+Ammar Saleh there's a 'continuing effect' on some of the cards in the bottom right corner. i was a dummy and didn't notice that this card didn't have it :)
We play the 2nd Ed of the base game, and I wasnt to sure about picking up this expansion ... And now, here I go to Amazon to order.... Sigh ... Thanx for making me spend more $$$ ... Lol, j/k... Your reviews are awesome and sooooo helpful. Keep gaming :)
If you cure purple do we treat them normally? Like doctor? Like picking up all the cubes (in one city at a time)? Or do we just take ALL the purple cube out of the game?
sorry, i don't remember the specifics (purple cubes have been used in different expansions and they're kind of mixed up in my head). but if you go over to boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/40849/pandemic-brink/forums/66 you'll find folks who can answer all your questions :)
@@rahdo some of the mutation event cards say "add one extra purple cube on location with 2 purple cubes on the board(on the top of my head)" so if I took that card first before that mutation card? I skip that card? (Hope this makes sence)
@@Josh-rd5dw yup, you just do what the card says. if you draw that one, do what it says and put extra purp cubes out on those spaces. if there are no spaces like that, they you put no purp cubes out :)
@@rahdo thanks! One more question... if the purple event card says ("... if the purple disease card is not eradicated...") and there's no purple cubes to begin with does that considered eradicated?
+Paulo Renato/ it is at 7:35, you should first complete the epidemic card as usual (but don't draw the infection), then you determine which is the virulent strain,
+Board Games world I have to ask since I've never played this expansion... You said first you complete the Epidemic Card as usual but don't draw the Infection.... I don't understand that... isn't completing the Epidemic Card: 1- Advance Epidemic tracker 2- Infect a City (draw the bottom card of the deck and place 3 cubes there) 3- Shuffle the Infection discard pile Are you saying that I skip step 2 and just advance the tracker and shuffle the discard pile? If that's not it can you explain what it is? Thanks
Actually, you can fit everything from the base game plus the expansion into the expansion box and then use the lid of the base game box. Problem solved - at least until you buy the next expansion, but as we are not there yet, I don't know what a possible solution would be then.
+rahdo Thanks. I had been looking at the "The Mutation Intensifies" card which says "place 1 purple disease cube on each city with exactly 2 purple cubes" and I thought all the mutation cards were the same. I had mistakenly thought that those cards simply enhanced the trouble with cubes that were already on the board.
I have the 1st edition of the game too. Do i have to find a suitable On the Brink edition to be compatible with the old version or all the expansions are the same?
+TheGunslinger019 for OtB, you've got 5 options in order of ease to implement: 1) draw cards from the bottom of the deck instead of the top 2) get solid colored sleeves for your cards so you can't see the mismatched card backs 3) buy pandemic legacy, which comes with matching card backs for new OtB 4) buy the "upgrade card" decks from zman so that your original copy has the matching cards 5) get the older compatible OtB (can be hard to find) :)
+rahdo I have Pandemic Legacy higher on my wishlist than OtB so i am covered :) And they said that Legacy is useless after finishing the campaign... Thanks a lot my good sir.
As a group the first few times we played we misread the rules and thought to win you had to ERADICATE all the diseases. D'oh. Making the game oh so much more difficult. Luckily we realized this error before long.
Erica Schaidt played this yesterday with my wife. Included 7 (regular) epidemic cards and the purple disease. We won by erasing all purple cubes from the board and curing the 4 diseases. Felt so victorious! What an incredible game this is.
Just noticed you mentioned the first Epidemic (virulent strain )card you drew doesn't have a continuing effect. It actually doesn't. In that case wouldn't you just ignore the effect? Still nice run-through. Was surprised that this wasn't done before in the lab. Regardless love your run-throughs. By the way, Watching some of your videos got me interested in playing board-games again. I am amazed how much they have advanced. There isn't your typical Monpoly, Stratego etc. that I grew up with. I just starting a collection myself with Pandemic and all of it's expansions already. Plus dungeon lords, and Mage Knight. I may just have found my new addiction. Thanks for what you do.
The custom made virus markers Jen made are absolutely adorable.
I may have to buy a set to add to our pandemic collection!
SO cute!
11:24: "TANTANTAN!!! Oh no! It's a mutation!" 😂➡💀
This guy so excited lmao it’s great. 👍🏻
at 9:30 how do you know it's a continuing effect? it say on the card "otherwise, ignore this event" at the end

What if u drew the mutation even first without the purple cube in the game?
the mutation events have you put purple cubes on the board :)

Can you play on the brink with just two players like the base game of pandemic?
yup.
Isn't Virulent Strain disease determineted AFTER the infection steps?
Also that first epidemic card could NOT come back later.

+Angua2105 the nice thing is everything fits in the pandemic legacy box: OtB, ItL, SoE and P:L, so that's what i do now :)
But... Did Jenn ever find out who was at the door?!
13:11
Example. If there is 3 black cubes in a city and the bioterrorist infect that city with a purple cube, does it cause an outbreak?
nope, different color. it's all spelled out here: files.meetup.com/3505482/Pandemic%20on%20the%20brink%20rules.pdf
What happens if you draw a mutation card from the player's draw pile before you draw one from the infection deck? Nothing?
