    OMG I just made a discovery, warm up your plates! Metal stays pretty cold, and when you clean with acetone it makes it even colder...the cold shocks the polish dry so run under hot water a while and dry off. A big thing too, make sure there's no air movement, fan, open window, air vent. That thin layer dries so fast lol

      Good tip. I'll try that this weekend. Question? Can I use any nail polish or does it have to be stamping nail polish?? 🤔

  • @jessicat3762
    @jessicat3762 6 ปีที่แล้ว +111

    Honestly, I use silly putty instead of a stamper and the little card that comes with otter box glass screen protectors (to push bubbles out) Silly putty picks up so well and is a buck at dollar stores. And I like to use polishes that are getting old and tacky lol.

      Oh, and "season" your plates with cuticle oil, clean it off then it helps release polish from plate

    Yes, I definitely just found out if the plates are warm it works beautifully! I wrapped a heating pad in an old towel, and every time I stamped it came out perfect every time, I have been so frustrated, now just need to find a better way to keep the plates warm, would like to know how nail techs do this in a salon?!

    • @salzer49
      @salzer49 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AveryCreates no,not really,being under a lamp helps a little,but then you have to hurry and stamp your nails cause the polish dries quick!!

    • @salzer49
      @salzer49 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@spankymonsterr ,yes it would help just don't keep under there while doing your nails,it does make the nail polish dry too quickly,before you have a chance to stamp!!

      There are microwaveable heat pads for pet use that do not get too hot, but hold heat for hours. Could put one under or close to your work area maybe.

    hi. thank you for this video, but i have a problem that was not mentioned in your video. I just bought a few stamping plates from 2 different 100 yen shops here in Japan as well as a clear squishy stamper and a plastic scraper. I've tried MANY different polishes and for some reason every time i try to pick up the polish with my stamper, it never picks of the polish. I'm not sure why, and i would really like to get use out of these items. Thank you!
    edit: im so dumb, i forgot to take off the sticker! I hadnt realized because the sticker was clear

      Emily Nora most of the time it’s the polish for some reason some work better then others but you can try roughing up the stamper a little NOT a crazy amount just lightly I think it was a recommendation that came with mine, I know I seen it somewhere. Just get your file like the block ones and the lightest sanding one the one you use before buffing use that and just hit it a couple of time with that and make sure it’s clean no oils nothing just lightly clean it with alcohol 💕

      Oh my God that’s genius! So I was just trying to do my nails with a brush and could not get the design I wanted at all. So I decided to take my little squeeze bottles with the tiny little applicator tips (that I use for my henna designs) and fill it with slightly watered down acrylic paint. Which actually worked great… I was able to draw my designs as if I were writing with a fine point pen instead of trying to use a brush. But, now I want to do the reverse and try using my nail stuff for my henna LOL

    • @gypsydonovan
      @gypsydonovan 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      One thing is to wipe it off right after! Every time I tried remover or even straight acetone my plate got cloudy. I found just rubbing with it doesn't work, you then have to rub with whatever you use for cleaning with nothing on it. Plates look like new afterward.

    I was having a real hard time last night while practicing with mine, I have a few different ones too, including the Salon Express which is awful, and wouldn't recommend it either, but since I got mine from eBay the scraper doesn't have a "metal" piece, it's actually plastic, and does work really well. I finally decided to prime the new clear jelly stamper that I have, and try again... Nope still didn't work! And I'm using Stamping Polish, I was like wth? 😌 Then, even before watching your video I tried "Rolling" very lightly, and the images came out great! So you're definitely right, every stamper is used differently, and you just have to practice. But thank you for your video, you just confirmed everything that I did 😊 Have you used the Born Pretty products? I'm wondering what you think of them.

    • @LilypadPolish
      @LilypadPolish  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm glad you were able to make it work!! Stamping can get so frustrating, but once you get it, it's so much fun. I have not yet tried any Born Pretty products but from what I hear, they're nice, especially for the low prices. I've had my eye on the Clear Jelly Stamper for quite some time so I might just have to invest and buy that one too!

      Cortney Mikel Were you able to pick up some images after trying with a lighter hand? I know that my problem was that I was pushing too hard, and I found that some images on the same plate picked up perfectly, and a couple that just wouldn't work. So keep that in mind when practicing, and try different images, you might have better luck ☺

      LilypadPolish Thank you! You should definitely get the clear jelly stamper, it is so much easier to position the image. Maybe get one from Born Pretty, and do a video & review? Happy Holidays! 🎄🎅

      I'm glad you find them helpful! I, too, struggled immensely with the smudging of the polish once applying a top coat. It's a mistake I still make from time to time if I'm not careful. My best suggestion is to use a large bead/gloop of top coat. I always make sure that my brush has a lot of polish on it so that the polish easily glides across my nail and the brush itself doesn't really make any contact with the design, so it doesn't smudge. I hope that made sense!

    When I scrape the polish off the plate it leaves trails around the image so when I stamp the image on to my nail there’s always trail marks behind the image. You get it so crisp and clean, maybe it’s my scraper I’ll have to change my scraper and practice more 😔 xxxx

    I tried to follow your links to find the kit (the one with the zipper case and all the goodies) you showed in your video and BMC doesn't show it on their website. In fact most of the kits there didn't have all the tools. Got different links, please? Also, if I wanted to use these on jewelry pendants instead of nails, do you think they'd work?

    • @LilypadPolish
      @LilypadPolish  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      bundle monster changed their name to Maniology, so i definitely need to update the links. but yes, i definitely do think they can work with jewelry as long as you make sure to add a top coat over top of it and then a final seal :)

  • @donnalynn2
    @donnalynn2 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Curious, can you Stam with gel polish? Wouldn't it be so much easier? You wouldn't need to worry about rushing in any way shape or form and you wouldn't have to keep cleaning your plate bc the Polish won't dry.

    • @LilypadPolish
      @LilypadPolish  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      you technically caaaan but it’s a lot more difficult. because gel polish doesn’t dry, it’s harder to pick up with the stamper. the reason nail polish is able to be picked up is because it is partially dry. you just gotta find that sweet spot! hope that makes sense :)

    • @Mizjae
      @Mizjae 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LilypadPolish this makes so much sense because I have been trying to do stamping with gel polish and the product stays wet so there's no definition to the image. Will definitely try the regular polish and see if there's a difference

    Hi! I am new to stamping and just ordered almost every tool that you talk about in your video from Bundle Monster. I cannot get any of my stampers to pick up anything! I was so disappointed, but I feel like I'm doing something wrong. How hard should you push on the plate when trying to pick up an image with the stamper? It looks like you use a VERY light hand. Is that the trick? Also, is there priming that I need to do the stampers? Hopefully you can help!

    • @LilypadPolish
      @LilypadPolish  7 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling, I know how frustrating it can be! And yes, you are right, I usually use a light hand to pick up the images. I've noticed that usually, when I use a light hand and gently roll the stamper, it picks up really nice. I do not prime any of my stampers, though. The only stamper that I have ever primed is the Bundle Monster Mochi Stamper. As mentioned in the video, gently scrape the extra polish only one to three times, just to make sure that you're not scraping the polish our of the indentation of the image. Then have your stamper ready to gently roll it on your plate and it should be able to pick up it up beautifully! When I say have your stamper "ready," I mean to make sure that your stamper is clean and doesn't have any dust particles or anything. You can easily clean it with a piece of tape or lint roller because nail polish remover or acetone will ruin the stamper. Ultimately, it just takes a bit of practice and getting used to when stamping, but I hope that this helped nonetheless. Good luck!!

    What is the BEST top coat over a freshly done stamped nail. Sometimes when I apply a top coat, if I don't have enough on the brush, it smears the stamp😕 Please help me out

    • @LilypadPolish
      @LilypadPolish  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've noticed that when I use a water-based top coat (like Little Ondine, for example), I almost never see any smudging. If you don't have any, I would just suggest using a large bead of top coat and make sure that your brush doesn't come into contact with your nails. Just sort of float the top coat on. That usually help me.
