I wish more tool manufacturers offered a mains power adapter like hikoki. I get that it's a bit cumbersome, but more convenient than having a set of cordless and a set of corded tools!

Corded Makita , 9404 , accessory 193055-3 , its best i have seen , does not look much but can be bolted to table .
it's old but still have not seen other brands match that .

The adapter doesn't defeat the purpose, just increase the flexibility. Need to work in an area without power and you can do it the same as any cordless. Working in an area with power, and you can go all day without worry. Its a big benefit on the more power hungry tools like the 10 inch table saw for instance.

Oh, boy, things are moving fast in the industry. Both Hikoki and Dewalt have come out with cordless belt sanders in the recent months! I have the Milwaukee and the power is more than I need on most cases, but the ergonomics is a bit odd, it is harder to keep it straight on the material, compared to my corded Makitas. Thin belt and high centre of gravity. And the Hikoki seems to have the same issue. And yes - it eats batteries super-quick.

Sweet…belt sanders with an accessory rail! So I can mount lights, lasers, and other optics, oh my bad work type of tool…lol! It’s still cool though. I wish more tool companies would give us users the hybrid option like the Hikoki. In your opinion would you use a belt sander like one of these or a cordless planer for leveling out an uneven tabletop?

Hay there fellow kiwi. The maker of the video i mean lol. Did not know how to contact you regarding the 3 inch Milwaukee cut off grinder saw thingy. The shaft is not round but hexagonal almost. The point is i got cut off blades for it they have round centers... it causes the blade to spin in the shaft, due to slight lack of contact. The Alan key is tight holding it. Do you know if you can get blades with this shape to fit the shaft? Thoughts much appreciated. When i was younger me and some friends raced belt sanders down the driveway at home. Used 25 meter cords. Hold the cord, let it rip and it will unplug its self at the other end. 🤣🤣 haha good times👍🇳🇿

Personally I’m on Makita’s LXT Platform and I believe that overall they have the best power tool lineup, sure they aren’t always the fastest but they have more than enough power to do any job that I need to do and their ergonomics and quality are far superior to FLEX.
When I need more drilling power I grab my Makita XGD01 Earth Auger/Right Angle Drill, it’s perfect for drilling large holes in wood with Forstner Bits and when using Bi-Metal Hole Saws in thicker 3/16” - 3/8” and thicker Steel, low speed (350 RPM) and the Torque Limiter make it perfect for this use and safety.

Saying the hikoki ac adapter will run all day is false. It has 400w less power and has a very short duty cycle. Running on batteries will last longer and give you more power. Unless you like letting the ac adapter cool down for 20mins every 10mins.

We have 3 of the Adapter
We do run em all day with SDS rotary hammers, grinders and table saw
Only had one experience of one needing to "cool down" but most of the time the fan that runs in the AC adapter keeps it "running all day"
BTW corded grinders, belt sanders and rotary hammers can also shut down and/or burn up motors if they are run constantly and hard especially in hot weather
The AC adapter is a great option for a good number of the Hikoki/Metabo HPT tools
We have over 100 Green tools many of them 35V tools and they continue to make us money, have durability and the best warranty
