      But ive tried to use geometric anatomy i knew/referenxed from cartoons,
      ended up on the eyebrows not only ne seen as a trapazoid or rectangle, but actually being 3 dimensional,
      Overlapping the eyes, making out of elypses sharp triangles for an angry look.
      And the eyebrows are seperately on those rextangles, you can tilt those to give it even more power.

    Edit:
    Im sorry if its taking a bit for my future comic to be released but ever since you guys showed your interest and support in the story I want to tell, it just motivates me to move forward with the story's development :D
    Edit from 1 year later:
    Its been out for a while now and I completly forgot to edit this in the comment itself - Its on Tapas called Undead Eyes.
    A story about two kids that try to survive their now distorted hometown. It revolves around the two characters' companionship and their trauma/fears.
    The theme has slightly changed to trauma, not so great memories and fears. But it still has a bit of its past themes in some way.

      Showing reaction to death is hard to draw because I can’t imagine how I’d feel or look if I saw someone die or found a dead body. I try not to think about stuff like that lmao

    • @d4rln_snstr534
      @d4rln_snstr534 2 ปีที่แล้ว +68

      Drawing a character reacting to a death sounds tricky! Mainly because most of us don't see people dying daily, or we've probably never stumbled upon a dead body (unfortunately some people have) and the way shows/movies portray a character's reaction to a death isn't always accurate, but if I had to imagine a character's facial expression to death.. the eye's pupils would decrease in size, the face would whiten or probably be a sick yellowish color, the lips would be wide shut but shaking (or it could be half open but unable to make any voice) a character might start sweating excessively or shiver, the placement of the hands would be on the mouth or stomach, the character's posture varies, they could be hunched over or standing very still and unable to move, or would immediately run away (they could trip over or be unable to run properly without looking back) Im no expert but I think it all depends on the context of the scene, the character's personality or how many times they've seen a dead body, and who's the dead body..

    • @d4rln_snstr534
      @d4rln_snstr534 2 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      I forgot to mention the eyes and eyebrows expression, the eyes could either be wide open in horror or half closed and holding back tears, while the eyebrows get effected according to the eyes, they could rise up in shock, frown, or be very confused because the character doesn't know how to react, like I said before it all varies

    Yknow what I find interesting is that I actually think that with the “beautiful girl” drawing at 6:11, the girl on the right, who is showing more emotion, is actually prettier than the other one because she feels real. She feels human, whereas the other one is so picturesque and perfect that she feels fake, and I think that’s why it’s so important to show emotions in drawings because you may think that well, the emotion will take away from their beauty but in reality it actually adds to their beauty because more people relate to that. And that’s what I think people find beautiful, is flaws and mistakes and just people being human. Thanks for coming to my tedtalk

      I think you should make a character sheet so you have a reference on what they look like and dont drive away from it, and make sure to give them outstanding traits different from the other characters, things like the shape of their eyes and shape of their face or add things like freckles or piercings to make them more distinguishable.

      Instead of using the other art as refrence, I think you should put the character you wanna draw again under the actuall peice your working on, just lower the opacity of that layer and I feel like it would be easier to see how things are, and I feel like that can be helpful somehow idk

    Probably the reason why one piece is so popular because it SHOWS the feelings the crying, sadness, happiness, scared, unhinged instead of some tears falling down the eyes, one piece shows the tears and even includes the snot that most anime’s usually leave out

    I've started doing this thing where I watch one of your videos when I wake up in the morning and try to practice it with a couple of drawings throughout the day. Yesterday was the poses video and I produced 3 drawings with poses. I can see my art steadily improving by doing this and just keeping in mind these helpful tips!

    7:52 I actually draw this kind of expression verry often ... i guess its because I like to draw demonic carakters and stuff like that so the expression kinda suits them 🤷🏼‍♀️

    I have a character and her whole thing is that she's supposed to be gorgeous and stuff (i could explain why but I will leave it has that) but I draw her with alot of emotions, and I even draw "ugly" expressions. I love drawing her in anyway, crying, eating, being mad, being happy! Emotions are fun to draw.
    I love how you showed this, and I'd love to thank you for educating on this topic because I definitely learned something :)

    It's also useful if you want to make a character with very gentle expressions. Different ways of expressing emotions makes the character more interesting and shows us their temper - softer and less intense expressions tells is that the oc is a very calm or delicate person. It can vary a LOT but it's a cool thing to keep in mind

    I feel like characters almost look more beautiful when the artist is not afraid to push the expressions of the beautiful characters, it makes them feel like real people and I feel like that makes a character even more beautiful then they are when they're just well- neutral I guess

    For me, I’ve found that the key to facial expressions is the way you draw the eyebrows. Try to push the limits of the way the brow line meets other parts of the face. For surprise, I try to make the inner tips of the eyebrows nearly meet the hairline, while the opposite ends are much closer to the eyes. For anger, it should be almost the opposite.

    It's really strange but sometimes it takes hearing this type of advice from another artist to really get your brain to understand something. Like reading it from a textbook or from a professor doesn't really get the message across my brain but listening to someone who I know can strut their stuff and explain it in a more concise way really helps. Also nice Pepe Silvia!

    Part of the difficulty is drawing new characters and wanting to not distort them too much when you’re still deciding what things they wear/facial features! Its much easier to work with them more if you draw a character a ton, be able to force yourself to go further when you’ve done a bunch of the same old stuffs

    i just wanted to say that this poker face blank emotionless template is absolutely brilliant. it has so much going on for it its neutral and doesnt really feels anything but at the same time its also surprised but in a sarcastic faked manner like the doge meme, and looking away as if avoiding you but also just distracted but with nothing but endless void.
    and although its probably a quick sketch just for reference it captured and possesed my mind for the 5 minutes ive spend on writing this comment
