Rodney McKay it's not like we can't take Batman getting beaten. It makes perfect sense for Batman to be beaten in that scenario. He had no prep time, he was ambushed by a villain with the flash's powers that even the flash had trouble fighting. And as a villain he doesn't hold back. But Batman got some good hits in though and went down like a badass :)
Me being a batman fan loved that he is fallible. I mean he is batman, he obviously was able to hold his own which is why he's so dangerous, but he lost. We also all know that Zoom is still alive anyway...

If they do reboot this hardcore like you're suggesting, I hope they keep Batman's portrayal as someone who wants to help the criminals...not just an asskicker. I wanna see him console Freeze about his wife...I wanna see him comfort the woman who always looked like a child. I wanna see him callous and closed off...but slowly open up to Superman, and the Flash...and Green Lantern. I wanna see him part of the justice league, leave after they find out about his contingencies for them...and then remain close when Superman hands him the ace-in-the-hole. I hate when comics treat batman like some emotionless monster. He isn't. He's clever and witty and relatable! I wanna see him try to convert Harley away from the Joker...and for them to really show her Stockholm Syndrome as the Joker abuses and demeans her despite how in-love she is. The emotion made me care. Relate the red hood...show us 2 or 3 iterations of Grayson into Nightwing and Damien into the Red Hood! I want it all. They have a chance to shine these gems and toss the fluff.

Wonder Woman will be supplanted by Donna Troy, Barry to Wally, Hal to anyone, Aquaman to Aqualad, etc. Is it continuity? Probably but there is evolution their that will make its foundation years down the road. It remains to be seen.

I used to really like the way DC heroes would have a legacy and pass on their mantle but then we got writers who were fans of the originals and s!o characters like Hal Jordan and Barry Allen come back. I don't think DC is ever going to let the characters move on permanently its just going to be a perpetual cycle of reboots. I think it's partly the fans, many seem to get angry when the original or best know version of a character gets changed or replaced and everyone knows how that when these things happen they don't last and the original comes back. As for using the Watchmen characters I'm no purist but I'm very sceptical they will get it right. They were made and used for a very specific story (even if based of existing characters) with a specific ending. If Dr Manhattan ends up as just another generic DC cosmic level villain it will be a pretty big disappointment. I just hope they can manage to do something good with it.

I was recently watching the "E is for Extinction" video and in that video there was a portion where you had mentioned and lightly touched on "Apocalypse and the 12" where Apocalypse gathers 12 of the strongest mutants in an attempt to bulster his powers however it backfires on him. I'm new to the comic book scene but not new to DC/Marvel. These videos helped a brother get caught up with all the whats happenings and I think you for all your hard work. I watched Flash: Flashpoint Paradox and loved it. Really wanted to see more Thomas Wayne. He threw Holly Quinn off the building man! That was bad ass. Now he's back in The Button. This has been a great story so far and I can't wait for issue #4.
