200 Anglers in Minnesota got stuck on a broken ice sheet today. That might be a new Minnesota record! I'm in Wisco and have thousands of miles of open water trout streams to enjoy Jan-May.
I rarely ever comment but I have to say you have some of the best fishing content I have ever come across. I have just watched a lot of your longer film like videos, and they truly are films. Excellent editing and unmatched beauty in the fiilming. Thank you!
I ice fish vicariously through Jay. I moved to Florida 8 years ago from Michigan. I grew up ice fishing and it’s so nice to be able to tune in and rekindle some of those awesome memories from when I was a kid.
This time of year I have to live vicariously through TH-cam fishermen since we're still nearly a month from good ice in west Michigan. I'm also someone who started fishing later in life a few years ago at 40, so I find vids like yours invaluable, and have learned so much. I always appreciate them.
If you guys plan on having more than 1 kid, I'd suggest doing it soon. I've got 3. I have 11, 7, 2 year old. Makes it very hard to do a bunch of outdoors activities. Just food for thought. We enjoy the videos. Keep up the good work Mr
I just catching up on some videos and oh my goodness! I thought you were going for an icebath! Thanks for the video and open moment of what is going on in your world. It makes you human. I am totally sold on the Catch and Cook. It is hands down the best I've eaten!
I love that bit about not keeping secrets. I was walking off nipissing last week, we fished for 30 hours and the eyes had lock jaw. The last 5 hours or so we discovered they didn't want stuff moving. As soon as you set your rod in a holder they were there. We told everyone we saw on the way off the ice.
Deer season over for me here In Michigan. Time to start watching yous Canadians walk on water. Can't wait for water to harden up around here. Go team catch n cook
Jay, your videos on the ice make me cold all over down here in Florida. Hello and Merry Christmas to Sam and the baby!! As well as everyone else here!!
I'm glad to hear things are good. I for one have been watching you since you filmed for uncut. Your camera work is legendary, your personality is gold. The fishing is just the cream of the crop
I just circled back to this great video, starting to think about this upcoming season and hoping it’s better than the flop of a winter we had in Michigan last year!
Hey Jay! You're one of my favorites to watch ice fishing videos on. Ice fishing is definitely one of my favorite things to do and I have a lot to learn but I always enjoy your videos. This is one of the activities I get to spend with my dad he's 72 as of now. I bought one of your packs off of your site and excited to share with my dad on the ice. Thank you for all you do and the content you share!
Thanks for the little extra about the Eskimo Superior system. It answered my lingering questions perfectly. Glad I popped on their Black Friday sale this past weekend. Always great content!
I did the same, bought the fat fish 949ig this weekend, dont think it will be here in time for the weekend,we should have a good 5-9" by the weekend.Tight lines!
Congratulations to you and Sam for the new baby. My girlfriend and I just had our daughter back in September so I understand where you're coming from. It can definitely be tiring. But little bean is the best thing that's ever happened for us
I'd like a video of you "getting emotional talking about it." Nothing is more motivating for me personally than seeing someone work hard and achieve their dreams. Keep Slayin' Jay.
Fix your tailgate latch! I had the same problem. Take the panel off the inside of gate and clean the dust out. Spray with silicone or wd 40 and work it. Takes all of 5 minutes! Keep up the great vids!
@Jay Siemens in a situation like this grab your spud bar and your ice saw, sink them both in and tie off to them, its not perfect but it will help. SO interesting to see them miss the spoon and immediately switch to the plastic bait. Very different from other species.
You need to come to the states and sight fish with a spear. You'll get nice whitefish high in the water column to spear and can still see perch on the bottom
Hey Jay I’ve been a big fan over the years and I’ve never seen you forget the ice anchors. Note for next time when you have ice saw cut some small blocks out and weigh down the corners of your shanty with the and some snow
TO JAY & SAM: PLEASE, DO NOT HESITATE to share a way to donate to the HANNON FUND, if there is one still that is. (Just remember a livestream before Hannon arrived, the donations were going to 'Hannon Fund'). I think I can speak on behalf of everyone who adores your family, we're here to help and more than glad to as well!!
I have a couple of spots where I can catch 13"-14" Brookies and they are some of my absolute favorite fish to go after. Pound for pound probably one of the best fighters out there and some of the best eating fish a guy can catch.
Still patiently waiting for first ice down here in illinois/Wisconsin area. Been having some weird weather lately, it was starting to get cold enough then the temps shot back up again. Really looking forward to trying out my new gear!!
I do it all the time in MN. Rainbows and Splake in about 6 feet of water. Just make sure your house is completely blacked out. And keep still. So much fun to watch them come in and strike.
Glad to hear you are trying to balance things with family being top priority. Love watching you. My last season in MB so looking forward to it. Moving to BC. Dont think there is too much hard water there
Great video, reminds me of sturgeon spearing season in WI. Get catch and cook stocked at Menards! Their grocery section is fairly minimal, but that makes it easier to find the good stuff. Looking forward to footage with the kiddo to help me convince my wife we should take our son along when we ice up in the next month. He'll be about 4 months so I'll be interested to see what kind of gear is available for the little ones
I usually pull the block out but if I have to push it under I tie a piece of paracord to it so I can pull it back into place when I'm done fishing I still Market heavily it helps to make the hole safer faster
Love the videos you make. I try to watch all of them. I just started ice fishing last year and was wondering if you had any pointers on how to ketch pike
Hey Jay, can you do a video on falling through the ice, I know it's dumb but can you do a video on falling into the water you can do it in a pool. I see alot of videos where people have both jacket and bibs on and it floats, but you know alot of us that hike out usually take off our jackets and just wear a bib and a hoodie and our muck boots, I just want to see how the flotation technology works with only half of it on. I know you're supposed to have the full suit on to get it's full effect, but it's just not realistic.
Awesome videos fellow angler. To make your life easier make a smitty sled with skis. I've been in your shoes before, bringing everything but the sink 😆
Next time you forget your anchors, drill a hole where you'd put one and loop a strap around a piece of wood and put the wood in the hole. Same concept as a toggle bolt.
I don't ice fish. But I watch Jay Ice fish. And that's good enough
Beg to differ lol
Get out there and watch him lol 😆
What will it take to convince you to ice fish?
You’re missing out bro. Ice fishing is the pinnacle.

Just an epic save!
As always a great video. Enjoy
23:28 and this marks the day Jay never forgets his anchors for his shanty again. Super cool video. Looks incredibly fun to sight fish!

The info, the gear, the fish, the 'tography, is always top knotch with Jay. Raising the bar on composition all-ways.

NZ crew checking in

Gotta love the Nats. Warm, waterproof, and light...
I just circled back to this great video, starting to think about this upcoming season and hoping it’s better than the flop of a winter we had in Michigan last year!
That, is and always will be the best way to experience life and ice fishing. No sitting at home!
Your so right Jay I have an MRI today and your ice videos really help man. Thanks.
Pumped for the new Canadian angle series.

Great video as always, I can’t wait to get out and post some good footage throughout the ice season 🎥🎣🇨🇦👍🐟📷
You are the best icefisher ever 😊
I'd like a video of you "getting emotional talking about it." Nothing is more motivating for me personally than seeing someone work hard and achieve their dreams. Keep Slayin' Jay.
Will be learning to ice fish for the first time here in a few weeks and pretty excited about it!
Remember icepicks and good luck
nice to see you out jay thanks for bringing the early season hype congratulations on your family
There's nothing better than being a dad!

SO interesting to see them miss the spoon and immediately switch to the plastic bait.
Very different from other species.
They have underwater drones now for $400 ish 130 ft depth would love to see you use one
Great video Jay. Oh yeah, the shanty move was a great surprise. Knew you'd snag the tripod first. Great save!
Back on the ice with Jay!
the tent blowing away made me giggle lol.
Always amazed by the production quality of your videos
Much appreciated!

Awesome to hear we’ll be able to get the catch n cook in the states eventually
Love sight fishing! High energy!
Thanks again Jay, love the videos!

Like all your videos nice to see things are going well. Take time to enjoy the rush...
I love these videos, I've gone ice fishing 3 days in a row
Just received my Catch and Cook with Seasonings bundle. Now to catch some fish so I can try it out! 😅
“Stay!” 😂😂
Didn’t work for you when you were little. 😊
Ice Season!!! Love to watch it in my 65 degree weather.
Coming to AZ in the spring??
Love these sight fishing videos
The unexpected may have been anticipated but it’s also priceless. 😊 Hope all is good and thanks for sharing excellence. 👍🏻
Thanks Tim!
You can shovel snow and slush around the skirt to help keep the tent in place
Love your content Jay. Keep up the good work.
Great video Jay! I’ve left my ice stakes once before and had a similar experience. That brought back some memories of that very comical day. 😂
Another great video Jay !
just recieved my catch an cook order, stoked to try it
Hey Jay, I've been wanting to give sight fishing a shot for awhile now. Do you think the same shallow setup would work for stocked rainbow trout?
I do it all the time in MN. Rainbows and Splake in about 6 feet of water. Just make sure your house is completely blacked out. And keep still. So much fun to watch them come in and strike.
If Catch and Cook is available in Lincoln, NE, I’ll be buying it.
Kenora is such a cool area. Launched out of there for the Canada trip this year
Jay you are the man!!
Glad to hear you are trying to balance things with family being top priority. Love watching you. My last season in MB so looking forward to it. Moving to BC. Dont think there is too much hard water there
Absolutely love the gear review.

Loved the vid super informative. Also I feel your pain dragging that stuff out. Keep grinding bud.
that's why you keep the pegs inside the tent when you take it down....I keep them in the pockets on the inside tent wall
Great video...for a bait fisherman
I like that tiny jig, looks good for brownies and arctic char here in Norway.
wish you did more brook trout fishing videos! love it!
Have you ever gone or thought about going spearing for pike?
Love the vids! You have encouraged me to go out and find more fish during the winter
Awesome video jay ! Can’t wait to try out my new livescope plus
Badass setup bro!

Glad all you lost was the water bottle. Could of been much worse. Awesome video
I was just up in Michigan o r fishing got 3 burbot 7 splake fish only 5 were keepers and a 15 inch pear h was REALY fun ten out of ten recommend
Awesome videos fellow angler. To make your life easier make a smitty sled with skis. I've been in your shoes before, bringing everything but the sink 😆
omg! ikr, I love ice fishing too, can't wait until first ice.
Thank you Jay, I love brookies! In your area, are there any lakes with good-sized inflow/outflow streams where the brookies naturally reproduce?
I can't wait to go fishing with Jay!!! It's not confirmed yet, but one day it will happen 😭😭😭
Great video Jay
I always get jealous. You guys always get ice weeks before us.
Jay brother! What sled is that?? I need a big sled that fits in my shortbox ram! That one is perfect!
Next time you forget your anchors, drill a hole where you'd put one and loop a strap around a piece of wood and put the wood in the hole. Same concept as a toggle bolt.
That’s a great idea!
Toronto sportmans show in March , i think you should book that lol
Jay, what is the little antenna thing on top of your camera that almost went in the hole?
Cant wait for ice fishing, any sites that ship to Canada for floatation suits beside Cabela's? been hard to find.
