As an avid ice fisher all my life, the warmer days..a good insolated tent and full on play pen works fine. Rent a shake even if it helps mummas anxiety as a parent xo it can be done safely.
Expectations are key. I remember my dad taking all six of us out perch fishing. He had the patients of Jobe. I'm sure he never wet a line but we all did. And when I took my girls fishing I knew from his example that it was all about them having a fun time and honestly the memories we made and are still making are gold. Enjoy you family and make those memories.

This is the best Jay. My dad tells me all these stories from when I was that age. And I feel like I can recall him saying he brought the jumper to the shack (12x12 tarp shack with a wood stove for heat) some of the best memories were the first ones. This brought a lot joy to me seeing you be a great dad.

Been waiting for this, my wife will be so excited to see this! Plan on taking my older of 2 (3.5yo) out this winter for the first time on ice. He had his paw patrol rod with a fish shaped weight out on grandparents pontoon, can't wait to see him reel in a fish. Loved seeing your interaction with your son! Mad props for taking him out at that age! We all learn this parenting thing on the fly. Keep your expectations low and savor the moments. Keep the family content flowing! There's a noticeable difference in the smile from a nice fish to the smile from fishing with Hannon! Love the middle name too!

Ice fishing is great for kids because the required skills are lower than regular fishing or fly fishing. And a little screen time to pass the slower moments is okay.
