Being from Michigan and a lifelong Michigan State fan, I took more pleasure in App State beating Michigan than I did when MSU beat them. Wasn't much longer the bottom dropped out on Michigan and MSU became top dog in the state for a while.
They were, and I’m glad we got part of that NDSU program at our school and I’d say he’s kept tradition going quiet smoothly after ol Snyder retired lol
Jimmy Lake is in the same class as Jeremy Pruitt, Chad Morris, Jeff Scott, Scottie Montgomery for example, college coordinators who didnt pan out as head coaches.
they only were in the 1983 season because they didn’t meet the requirements to be a division IA school. They only played one other IAA opponent that year, before jumping back up. So really they were a de facto Division IA school
In Washington’s defense nobody knew how bad the coach was and that’s why they were ranked
Crazy to think that App State & James Madison are both FBS teams now & Delaware will be joining them next year.

Appalachian State was full FBS by the time that upset took place.
