That comforting quality is the old school "filmic" feeling that you just can't get from digital! It "feels" like a movie- as it should! And I agree with you on how much clearer it is!!
@AVAPopCulture if they ever figure out how to bottle it, the industry would be saved!! Was watching War Games the other night, and again... felt like comfort food. Another good one!
As good as the transfer looks, it's not actually a 4k restoration. The source material is the previous blu-ray version. Yes, this master was completed in 4K but finished in 2K, and by that logic this release is just an upscale. With regard to the extra features, it's a real shame that for such a classic film, nothing new was added, not even actor Lance Hendrickson's Audio Commentary, that he recorded for the film decades ago, and, still has never been put to disc. He was originally going to be cast as the Terminator itself, and, i'm sure he has some fascinating insight.
You are so right. I was absolutely shocked at how vicious he really was in this one. It's been a long time since i've seen it! Thanks for stopping by buddy!
The results of this past election is enough for me to believe this is a simulation and clearly someone’s practical joke. No other explanation is plausible. Truth is truly stranger than fiction. Oh, and The Terminator is essentially a perfect film. So glad to hear this 4K release got it right.
Always liked the Blu-ray, but this 4k was top notch. I can see peoples frustration with the Heavy DNR and and AI restorations, there has been a few deep dives by professional tv calibrators showing how the tv settings thatt are supposed to help can ruin your picture.
I agree one hundred percent! I never had the blue ray.I wonder if it's that big of a difference, what would it be hard to tell since there is so much upscalling going on?
Heads up previous release on blu ray was 4k scanned from orignal camera negative one of the only 4k scanned standard blu ray From a studio non botique but the film wasn't tuned which isn't dnr that keeps it from looking annoying that all releases do for some reason which is fixed on new release
@GATURKS yeah scream factory ceo did a interview with TH-camr and explaind dnr saying dnr is used to tune down film grain to keep it from being noisey without taking away details dnr abuse can be done though if used too much dnr is some boogeyman thing thrown around The previous terminator blu ray was the most untouched looking 4k scanned blu ray ever film grain was bothering

It really does!!! I'm actually just getting into steel books, so i'm impressed!!!!!
So thrilled that the mono track is included. Definitely picking it up now.
Yes run!
I think a lot of people forget how much of monster was Arnold was in this movie as the terminator...he might as well be Jason or Michael Myers!
