I love, love, love, young folks enjoying the music I grew up with. It was a magical time, that will never happen again. I feel so lucky to have live through it.
The talent that came out of the 70s 80s and 90s WILL NEVER BE MATCHED! I consider myself BLESSED to have been born to see and experience the last forty years!!! 🙏🔥❤️
My husband was in the Navy. The 1st line hit hard, oceans apart... This song spoke to me. Granted Richard was touring and my guy was deployed, so it was a bit different. We survived quite nicely. I was right there waiting for him!!⚓️
Shon - Richard was NEVER a part of Speedwagon - and has always been a solo artist. One of the very best of the 80's - with MANY hit songs. He is also an incredible songwriter for other artists. His ballads (Right Here Waiting, Hazzard, Endless Summer Nights) are amazing. BUT he also has some fantastic uptempo - rockier songs. Please, please check out Don't Mean Nothing, Too Late To Say Goodbye, Loney Heart, and Should've Known Better. Enjoy the journey my friend! :)
YES YES YES. Whoever told you he was part of REO is HIGH AS HELL. I hate this song, it was me and my ex's song then I found out she was a cheating HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO lol.
I was very confused. Lol, I did find something about him opening for REO on one of their tours, so maybe that's where the mix-up happened. I was questioning everything I knew for a minute there. 😂
Another great reaction! 'Hold on to the Nights' is my favorite of Richard Marx... though as a singer and musician myself, it's SO hard to pick just one! Richard Marx also wrote songs for many, many other artists, including 'This I Promise You' for N'Sync which went to #1!!! He also has 3 boys who are ALL singer-songwriters, musicians, and producers!! That family is just dripping with talent! I haven't seen Richard in concert, YET... but I'll get there! A bucket list item for sure!
Shon, I love to watch your reactions ,because you are so moved by the music I grew up with, you feel every word of what you are hearing , you have a special gift when it comes to music, thank you for bringing back so many memories .
Richard Marx was all over the airwaves back in the day. He had so many hits! Even so, I couldn't claim that I was a big fan, until... One day, a friend couldn't make it to his concert so they gave me their ticket for free (I couldn't afford such luxuries at that time). I didn't have anything else to do that cold, Pittsburgh, winter afternoon so off I went. Let me tell you what, before that day, I had _never_ heard somebody sound better while performing live than they did in their recorded songs. I honestly didn't know that it was even possible. I was simply blown away, & I left that concert with a new appreciation for his talent, & a fan!
One of my favorites! Richard Marx has a deep catalog that he recorded. He also has written for so many artists that it is impossible to remember them all. You need to deep dive down the Richard Marx rabbit hole.
❤Richard's other Amazing songs/videos are "HAZARD", "CHILDREN OF THE NIGHT", "DON'T MEAN NOTHING", "ANGELIA", "HOLD ONTO THE NIGHT", "ENDLESS SUMMER NIGHTS", "SHOULD'VE KNOWN BETTER".
Oh yeah this guy is well known to Gen X. His first music job was at age 18 singing backup on Lionel Richie's "All Night Long". And he's been married to a famous MTV personality, Daisy Fuentes, for like 10 yrs now.
Richard Marx is an incredible song writer and he's written for some very very famous legendary singers. Richard Marx wrote "dance with my father again" for Luther Vandross
💙Please Check out the band WARRANT "UNCLE TOM'S CABIN", "HEAVEN", "DOWN BOYS", "SOMETIMES SHE CRIES", "I SAW RED", "BLIND FAITH". Singer Jani Lane had an Amazing voice!! He was an awesome writer/lyricist/musician. Sadly, we lost him too soon. I miss him so much!! RIP Jani. ❤
Was never a member of REO Speedwagon, but was nominated for a Grammy for this tune. If you want something more upbeat from this artist, try "Satisfied" or "Don't Mean Nothing".
Speedwagon & Richard Marx are both awesome. It’s almost not fair to compare them because both are unique in their own way, as it should be. Enjoy both of them for their different perspectives & talents. Both of these artists made my life much happier & positive throughout the years.
I definitely have a list of songs you may want to listen to. I guess I’ll just give you a few suggestions. “Stomp” by The Brothers Johnson “3AM Eternal” by KLF “Rock Steady” by The Whispers
Richard Marx was my first concert. I remember this song from his concert...Richard sitting at a white piano, a single white spotlight on him. It was very cool.
Marx wrote music for a lot of other artists. He wrote this for Barbra Streisand, but she sent it back, saying it was a great song, but she wasn't waiting for anyone, so he recorded it himself.
Richard Marx wrote the 1988 break-out hit 'Edge of A Broken Heart', for Vixen, an all female band that you might not have covered before...you should give 'em a little look see...THEY ROCK!!!
My aunt died in 1990 in her early thirties from cancer leaving my uncle with three kids from 13-5 in age. He played this at her funeral. Any time I hear it I go back to being 9 holding my little cousin's hand.
Thanks for the reaction. Saw Richard Marx in concert last year. It was wonderful. He wrote To where you are (music) for Josh Groban (lyrics by Linda Thompson). It’s worth checking out. Very moving an Josh Groban is worth checking out (Awake, River…)
Shon, you know when the real music was produced. Nothing beats my childhood when it comes to music. Born in 1975, I grew up on this great music. Thank you for your channel and thank you for taking the time to experience the times. And let’s not forget, he’s married to Daisy Fuentes, who’s a hammer. She was my favorite MTV veejay back in the 80s. Enjoy. It’s amazing.
I think this is one of the prettiest most beautiful songs ever. Thank you for another great video. Love you and keep safe. If you like funny songs you must listen to My Little Rat by Red Sovine.
Shon, I really hope you see this: There's a guy on TH-cam called Chase Holfelder and he sings minor key versions of songs and he did one of this song! It changes the vibe from romantic to creepy as all get out! You really should react to it now that you've heard the original. Chase is a talented guy - Richard heard this cover and said Chase has a good set of pipes on him. As for another Richard Marx song, check out "Keep Coming Back". The bass line on it is so sexy and he got none other than Luther Vandross to join him on the song, it's sooo good!
I’m not sure where you got the information that Richard Marx was part of REO Speedwagon but he definitely was not. He initially was an opening act for the group but he has always been a solo artist.
Doesn't look like you have ever reacted to a Barry Manilow song. As a guy that became a teenager in late 70s, Barry was the kind of artist that you didn't want to admit you liked, but secretly you did. He was a huge selling artist back in mid-70s to early 80s. The women loved him. While primarily a balladeer, he did some upbeat hits too including the Copacabana and Can't Smile Without You. Incredibly talented as both a singer and songwriter. He wrote quite of few of the more memorable jingles used in TV commercials in the 70s and 80s as well. Recommend any of the following songs to react to: I Write the Songs; Mandy; and Could This Be the Magic.
I was 15 when this song came out and I hated it. It was everywhere and I thought it was so cheesy. But as an adult I can go back and appreciate it for what it was at the time.
Artist: SPOOKY TOOTH Songs: •Evil Woman •Wildfire •Better by You, Better than Me • Pretty Woman •I Am the Walrus But you can't go wrong with simply jammin' their complete albums!! Peace Be Unto You
Takes me back to my high school days he has some good songs

Endless summer nights by Richard Marx is a MUST!!!!!
My husband was in the Navy. The 1st line hit hard, oceans apart... This song spoke to me. Granted Richard was touring and my guy was deployed, so it was a bit different. We survived quite nicely. I was right there waiting for him!!⚓️
This is one of my all-time favorites! To this day, I get chills!!! 🔥
His voice….lovely. ❤️🔥
Hold on to the night by Richard Marx! You will have chills with that song.

@@jdh6677 lol - that's probably where Shon got confused.
He was a player in Lionel Richie’s band before he struck out on his own.
@@psiclone23 He sang backup on many of Lionel Richie's songs!
Time to feel “Heaven” by Brian Adams if you have yet. More beautiful music like Richard Marx!
The original and acoustic versions of 'Heaven' are both awesome!
Another great reaction! 'Hold on to the Nights' is my favorite of Richard Marx... though as a singer and musician myself, it's SO hard to pick just one! Killing it with the songs lately 🎶
It was huge in its time, in the 80s. Such a voice. (And yes, I am that old...)
He was/is an excellent singer/pianist/songwriter. He looks sensational too! Love acoustics also. Fabulous 🥰🥰

Haunting melody shon ,and the guy had a really nice voice.thanks for reminding me of this one.great reaction.
Saw Richard Marx live on November 17, 2018. Still has a great voice.
One of my favorites! Richard Marx has a deep catalog that he recorded. He also has written for so many artists that it is impossible to remember them all. You need to deep dive down the Richard Marx rabbit hole.
He's on tour right now and he honestly looks and sounds pretty much the same as he did in the 80's, just with shorter hair.
❤Richard's other Amazing songs/videos are "HAZARD", "CHILDREN OF THE NIGHT", "DON'T MEAN NOTHING", "ANGELIA", "HOLD ONTO THE NIGHT", "ENDLESS SUMMER NIGHTS", "SHOULD'VE KNOWN BETTER".
I was listen this song as kid on Mtv during 90s... 20 times after recorded on vcr casette 😊😊😊

apparently he opened for them on a tour when he was first coming up

Richard Marx was my first concert. I remember this song from his concert...Richard sitting at a white piano, a single white spotlight on him. It was very cool.
I really liked when Skit Row was opening for him back in '89, the Skid Marx tour was epic.
My favourite Richard Marx track is Children of the Night. It has a special place in my heart and I would love your take on it.
Class of 89. Senior prom song was hold onto the night.
Goosebumps galore over the piano opening - and then the singing begins!❤
That one’s a beauty!
Richard Marx-Hazard
Do the official video, it’s a great one!!

Also listen to the Coors singing "Runaway".
Danged if he didn't play this song too! I think
he wanted me Never to forget him! 😭💔
I was obsessssed with this song in like 6th grade.
As someone already mentioned, “Hazard” is a great song that deserves a listen! 😊🌸
Fun fact, Richard's dad was a song writer who wrote "jingles" for different comanies.

Time now to react to Richard Marx's "Hazzard" thank you, he has so many more bangers
Another must listen to song from Richard Marx is "Chains Around My Heart".
It was a huge hit also because he was hot!😂
