    There is nothing wrong with a relatively heavy trigger pull on a carry gun.

    • @texmexshoots
      @texmexshoots  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I agree. Especially one without a manual safety. That being said, 5 lbs isn't bad! Plus it breaks really clean compared to the other two.

      @@texmexshoots Yeah 5lbs is not even what i'd consider heavy. I put the galloway trigger in my LCP max, it's pretty outstanding, I uploaded a review. It's really amazing how much aftermarket support there already is for this pistol.

    Bought my Lcp max a few weeks ago and finally got it to the range today. I ran 50 rounds each of federal fmj, fiocchi fmj and ten rounds of sig v crown, they all ran through flawlessly! In my opinion I don’t think it’s as snappy as some commentators suggest and it’s so damn easy to carry everyday. Highly recommended adding the max to your edc rotation

    • @AudioGardenSlave123

      Ruger isn't known for consistent quality, matter of fact they're known for inconsistency, so some pistols will work flawlessly while others will require improvement done by the owner or Ruger. Lots of people recommend polishing the feed ramp and breach face of the slide and I've had to do that personally to get the first couple of rounds in a full mag to cycle without issue. It will still hang if you don't slingshot the slide on the loading of the first round but that's what you're supposed to do with any auto pistol anyway. For anyone who still has cycling problems there are heavier (13/14 lb) recoil springs that will solve that but it will make it harder to load for people with weaker grip strength so it's a trade-off.

    I have the LCP & the LCP Max, neither one has ever experienced a malfunction of any kind. When I had the Kahr it would not get through a single mag absent some sort of problem. I always carried the LCP w/the factory 7 round extended mag coupled w/a Hogue grip sleeve to help w/my XLG hands. The Max is carried w/the 12 round mag for the same reason & I’m going to order a Hogue grip sleeve for it too.

      On a few firearms forums, I have read people having issues with their Kahrs. I've owned three myself, an MK9 Elite, P9 Covert and the P380. Most of the complaints I've read were about the PM9 and a few on the P380. I personally never had an issue with any of mine when fired properly and I carried all of them at some point. But small pistols can be finicky and some require a break in due to the small and stiff recoil springs they use.
      That is one thing about the Max, the spring is relatively light for its size.

    Thanks Tex Mex, you put a lot of work into this video. The range trip was obviously after work as I could see your work shirt sleeve when shooting. (I'm so glad that I retired not long ago) We, you certainly educated me a good bit on on these little pocket .380's. I bought the Ruger LCP last year and mainly I wanted something with little to no sights because my thought is I didn't want it hanging on the sights in a draw and secondly I felt it likely that I would not use the sights in an up close situation. Also, it is a back up to my Hellcat concealed carry. I have found that sometimes I use it in an ankle holster. I certainly would not mind having the LCP Max as it looks to be a whole lot better gun with more capacity, better trigger and sights. Thanks again for the info you provided. Get well soon 🙏🏼😊

      Thanks Cervus! I haven't been able to get out of town for some time. Right now my weekends are filled with club volleyball tournaments. Hence my only video had to be made on a weekday after work. Luckily I'll be escaping the city in a couple of weeks.
      The standard LCP is perfect as a back up. As it is, I shot it relatively well at 5 yards. Plus in a high stress situation at close range, the sights won't really matter.
      I like the Max and having 11 rounds is nice. Especially since the pocket pistol is all I can carry for certain situations.
      Congrats on being retired! I still have a few years to go. Assuming I ever actually retire. Having daughters makes me think otherwise. 😅
      Thanks for the prayers and I hope you and your family are healthy and happy.

    I have a Beretta 92FS that several years ago now I carried on a contract security job. As part of the qualification we had to do both day and night firing. By the time I did the night firing I had been up almost 20 hours. Fatigue caused limp wristing and it was the only time the pistol I have had since the mid 1990's has had a failure. Getting an LCP Max this week so I will remember this video.

    I have the kahr p380 and I wished so much it was a good gun but I would never trust my life with it. So many malfunctions of all kinds. I even sent it off to kahr and they sent it back “fixed”, which was bs, it’s just as bad. I bought all the ammo from cheap to the very best most expensive, kahr p380 is not a reliable gun. @@texmexshoots I'm personally more of an HST guy myself, but I do find I get better results with Gold Dot in the Kahr P380. For most of my shooting though, I use 100gr round nose hand loads tuned to the P380 and I get fantastic results, both in reliability and in accuracy for such a small gun. It is a shame that I have to do that, that the .380 Kahr is so ammo picky, because my 9mm and .40 Kahrs eat everything

    I borrowed a Walther P22 from a friend to see how well it shot. She delivered it to me in a cloth Crown Royal bag. In comparison the Crown Royal bag was pretty sexy. It was a nice gun BTW. I've shot the LCP and was not favorably impressed. I'd rather carry an Airweight 5-shot with a pointy stick stuck in eye then shoot the LCP. I would try a LCP2 if one came my way here in SoCal. The Max looks very interesting. That was a good comparison. Thanks.

    The Kahr is - in my opinion - has a fantastic trigger for a double action pistol, far better than any double action pistol I own. If you love glock-style triggers and aren't used to double action, you'll probably hate the Kahr (and abhor the original LCP and the S&W Bodyguard). While the LCP Max Trigger is perfectly good, I prefer the Karhr's trigger. I don't even prefer double action, I'm both used to them and it's one of the best double action trigger pulls (def. the smoothest).
    Personally, I think both the Kahr and the Max could have a place in one's carry rotation. The Max is just an all-around great gun and you can't beat the capacity relative to size yet anywhere in the market. For the absolute best concealment for shorts and t-shirt weather, the Kahr (or the LCP or Bodyguard) can be a good choice. For most people, the size difference is so negligible that the Max just makes the most sense 100% of the time. So, if you only have one - the LCP Max is a great choice. If you can afford a second, super deep carry option, one of the single stack micros makes sense.

      Thanks for watching James. I agree with your assessment. I rotate the Kahr and the Max depending on the situation. I like the Max’s capacity and shootability but I also like the Kahr’s size and weight.

    The LCP shown in your video is the original LCP with the horrible sights. In 2013, LCP improved the sights and trigger (shorter travel, nice clean break, still two stage reset), probably because Kahr was coming out with the CW380 to compete with Ruger on price. This improved LCP model was known as Gen 2 and came out three years before the LCP 2. The Gen 2 was loved, and Ruger still makes it today. If you buy the regular LCP today, you are getting the Gen 2. The original LCP had a dash in the serial number. Gen 2s have no dash. At $259, it's hard to beat. I installed the Galloway 13 lb spring and stainless guide rod. Also a metal takedown pin and a Hogue grip sleeve. It has been flawless. My groupings are the size of a 50 cent piece at 21 feet.

      The extra capacity does make it stand out above the rest. Although I was surprised at how well I shot the Kahr considering its size. However the Max has the capacity and a better trigger. The Kahr and LCP's triggers had looooooong pulls.

      @texmexshoots  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Valorius I agree o both counts. They are a complete Glock knockoff. You can even see the same pattern on the back of the slide.
      They need to start innovating on their magazines like Sig did with the 365 (then Springfield with the Hellcat) and Ruger with the Max. Getting that extra capacity without making the grip much thicker is a game changer.

    • @cheeng1
      @cheeng1 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hardly, but I like your enthusiasm. Extra capacity is always nice, but first hits on target matter more than capacity every time. I've got the Ruger and a S&W BG...and I can simply draw and reliably put rounds on target quicker with my single stack BG380. I got rid of my P365 b/c I didn't shoot it as good I felt I should compared to my BG380. Now one disadvantage of the LCP Max is it's added thickness compared to the original LCP. The single stack 380 will continue to be the most discrete, deep carry pistol (in 380 offering) for those that need it. Those that gravitate to the LCP are mostly needing deep concealment, and additional magazine addresses extra capacity if needed. And I am a fan of the LCP Max.

    • @texmexshoots
      @texmexshoots  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello Chief! There aren't any real functional differences between the two.
      From the Kahr website:
      "Differences between the Kahr CW380 and Kahr P380 models include: the CW series has a conventional rifled barrel instead of the match grade polygonal barrel found on P models; the CW slide stop lever is MIM (metal-injection-molded) instead of machined; the CW series slide has fewer machining operations, and uses simple roll marking instead of engraved markings; the P380 comes with two magazines, but the CW series comes with one 6 rd steel magazine with flush baseplate... The (CW) pistol features drift adjustable white bar-dot combat rear sight and pinned-in polymer front sight (vs. dove-tailed front and rear on the P380)."
      From everything I have heard and read, they are functionally the same as is their accuracy.

      Technically it's a DA although the slide cycling does partially cock the hammer. The hammer is precooked more than the Gen 1 (Dash Serial Number) which is why the trigger pull is shorter and lighter ( I'm not sure the LCP II and Max are not as well). If they have to cook the hammer at all (even only 1%) they are DA by ATF definition.
