I was born in 2005, and I fondly remember having some DVD’s along with the “Trumpton” series, the train DVD was my favourite.
I had some weird childhood memories that were more for Gen X and millennials, Like: Thunderbirds, Trumpton, Thomas the Tank engine (that being the model series), Bagpuss, Fingermouse, Balamory, magic roundabout, Tweenies, pink panther, Brum, “the night garden”, to name a few…

Yes I remember all of these classics, Mr. Benn was one of my favourites as was Captain Pugwash...there used to be a kids program back then called Cat-weasel that I used to watch as well.

Mary, Mungo and Midge is probably my oldest TV memory. I remember shouting to my mum "It's starting!" awh
@@hopebgood Yes I remember that as well, also Hector's House and at the end of the episode he'd always say, "I've been a very naughty old Hector".
It's just a pity my short term memory is as good as my long-term.:)
@@frogstamper lol Nah, Hector's House didn't do it for me. But I hated Rent-a-Ghost the most. Even now I can remember thinking back then "These people get paid for this rubbish?"
@@frogstamper My mate Deb was scared of Hector's House. I couldn't watch Catweasel cos it was just creepy but the scariest kids prog for me was The Changes. Awh....how sweet ;)
YES! Catweazel was brilliant! Do you remember the wrestler of the same name? Saturday afternoon wrestling was a big thing to watch when I was a kid too.
Captain Pugwash looks like it was made in late 1999- early 2000s
The TV series ran from 1974 until 1998. Comic,book and plays ran till around 2008. There was lots of tongue in cheek names for his cabin mates but I'll let you work them out lol.
was a teenager in the 70s, these shows were great, not just for the little ones 🙂 thanks for showing bits of them again, fantastic, thank you so much: Ermintrude and her pals are probably my faves, until I watch again that is, then will prob be something else LOL
I like reading all the comms on here cos I was a mix of 70's and 80's kid. I just had such an amazing time and it's fun reading the comms to see what other people think 😉

That’s not the original intro, it’s a reanimated intro for later re-airings and DVD releases, the original looks of the time, trust me 😂

I remember all them from the 70s when i was a kid ,, born May 23rd 1968, from northern Ireland UK, back when only 3 tv channels,! And better telly back then as well,,!

Watched most of these in NZ as a kid. Magic Round about irritated me as a child and still does in my fifties.

The one I hated was Hector's House.

Mind getting up in the school holidays and waiting for kid TV to start at 9am that was early 1970s fantastic kids TV
Really weird to see the influence of the Beatles in the title cards and intros.
Makes sense in another way though. If it was the 1970s, the creative people responsible for making these shows were likely teenagers in the 1960s
not forgotten any and in my mid 50s, still have seen some of these shows recently too best era for tv films and music

They repeated so often I think I knew most of the actual shows themselves by heart by the time I was about 12.
Remember them all. Rainbow was my favourite. Such magical times. Something so warm and cozy about the 70s.
I'm not looking fondly back towards the 70's so much....more towards my childhood. I have such fond memories of it. My mum had knitted me a lovely jumper when I was about six and during school assembly I thought it would be interesting to see if I could fit my hands into the opposite sleeves. I spent the next ten minutes silently freaking out cos I couldn't get my hands out of the sleeves! Awh. 😀🙄

I am so sorry to have to disagree. I love all these old kids shows but I just hated Rentaghost so much. It had me changing the channel over to ITV no matter what was on. Click, click, click!
Why does the camberwick green music make me burst into tears?
Pue, Pue, Barny mc grew, Cuthbert, Dibble, Grub. I spent years trying to figure out why there were 2 Pue’s thinking I must have been miss hearing it. Until someone pointed out they were brothers. 😂😂😂

Chigley My Best 70s Show!
I can't remember the difference between Chigley, Trumpton or Camberwick Green. They've all merged into one assorted Brian Cant voice over memory. The 70's kids show I remember the most fondly is Mary, Mungo and Midge 😀

Anyone remember a lates 70's early 80's show about two castles on hills next To each other and sometimes they would fire cannons at each other and sometimes be friends.

That's the wrong Captain Pugwash. Your clip is of the modern animated series. The 1970 one was stop motion card cutouts.
The stop motion card cutouts was part of its charm. The later version was rubbish.

One of my earliest memories is of a late 1970s kid's TV show (whose name I can't remember) where the presenter went completely mental and delivered a personal angry political rant...needless to say he was sacked before the next episode...does anyone else remember this very strange incident?
I think I might! It was John McCririck. I remember a kids tv show where he went ballistic and totally lost the plot and was shouting at some little boy cos the boy was .......anti-fox hunting or summat like that....I think. I clearly remember being shocked at his extraordinary outburst. It's got to be the same thing......

All I can remember about the show was:
1) It was a kids' show involving puppets.
2) It must have been aired late 70s/early 80s.
3) The presenter in question was a mixed race guy (back in the day when there weren't that many ethnic people on TV).
4) He made some bizarre rant about "...the Police taking his wife away...".
Pretty thin details I know, but this vague memory has been bugging me for literally decades, and I'd love to get to the bottom of it!
