- Cine Footage at York filmed in 1976 - 1978 with Class 40s - 45s - 47s - 50 and Some Deltics.Just had these re - done Cine to DVD.Will show a lot more video's filmed at the same time if i get plenty of people viewing and commenting on them.
Thank you for posting this footage. I used to trainmspot at Moor Lane Bridge and St Helens Bridge in those years. It was great to see Dringhouses Yard and Chaloners Whin as I remember them. Such good times.
I grew in in Bishopthorpe in the 80’s and spent a lot of time on the selby line after ( and before !! ) it closed . I now live in Woodthorpe and never realised where the line split near tescos . Lovely to see this . Thank you very much .
Thanks Richard for your comment......Regards Trevor.''
god that has taken me back a good few years now, timeless classic video that, love it.
I was spotting at York in those years. A rare class 50 there. Great vid.
The Class 50s appearing at York in 1978 were usually after they had been into Doncaster Works for refurbishment. They would often position back to the SW often on the morning Edinburgh - Plymouth service taking over from the booked Class 47 or Deltic at York after running light engine from Doncaster.
I often drive up the A19 from Selby to York to visit a mate in Bishopthorpe and think to myself it doesn't seem that long ago since all those lovely blue era diesels were bombing along the ECML, right where I'm driving!! And then I realise that it is 35 years since it was rerouted! Great video. Thanks for sharing!! :-)
Excellent footage, Trevor!
I think that every piece of rolling stock and locos in this film is now confined to history.
Sad but true.
Great video, what memories, thanks for posting
Thanks for looking William.''
A great video Trevor, a lovely reminder from the past, I bet it was something of a rarity to see a 50 at York at that time, thanks for sharing this little gem, it's a like, cheers...Bill
84asrd84boxy Cheers Bill,Nice to look back a few years. The 50 was running in after an overhaul at Doncaster Works so a nice surprise when it passed us that day.Glad you liked....Trevor.''
Thanks 4 sharing happy days
A great film of archive and heritage traction - thanks for posting this. There is so little colour film from the 1970's, this is a little goldmine (!) of the blue/grey era. Any more footage from this period will be much appreciated.
Great scenes Trevor. I was only 1 yr old at the time, but I wish I had been able to see and hear those great locos rumble past. All that was missing was an HST and all of my favourites would have featured! Thanks for sharing.
Dave

We spent time at Burton Joyce in 1978 with oil trains roaring up and down past our house all night. Black shapes coming out of the moonlight from our bedroom window. 47477 was damaged the previous year at Farnley Junction
My late husband was an engineer at York Station , he used to repair those deltic engines in the 70’s .
Happy days around that time. Regards Trevor.

The first piece of music gave me the feeling of "it was better back then in the good old days".
Was one of your boys holding out a microphone ?
Come on, get syncing !
Yes he was.''
Leeds United scarf on one of your lads? I wonder how many York kids are LUFC fans now?
Plenty i would say.''
It seems to look more authentic in cine film, great selection of stock they tell me it cost you £20 pound to get the boys to star in the film, lol, cheers Tony.
