Do you know who is raffles? Stamford raffles was the founding English colonial master of Singapore. Singapore became independent in 1961, but still obsequiously and sycophantically clings on to a colonial namesake, just like Hong Kong obsequiously held on to Victoria harbour when it was Queen Victoria who prosecuted the opium wars that led to the secession of HK to the British empire until 1997. HK has since returned to China so why are we still using such a humiliating and sorrowful name?( Let's not forget it was the British together with the French who all but destroyed the Summer Palace in Beijing in 1900 which the great French writer Victor Hugo said was the most beautiful and magnificent gardens in the world.) I vehemently and categorically object to the use of the name raffles and vow to boycott raffles city and never ever step into it's environs until the name is changed. Why does China allow such a demeaning colonial appellation appear on her proud and heroic land, is it not a humiliating slap in the face? How could Chinese people face our countless heroic forefathers and foremothers who have sacrificed their lives to drive off the colonial imperialist aggressors yet today see a colonial name in huge size smack in the heart of Chongqing, at 朝天門 no less， the most prime spot in CQ? If this isn't the most superlative humiliation, i don't know what is. 中国人，永远别忘了百年耻辱，鸦片战争，火烧圆明园，让一个英贼殖民者的名字堂而皇之大咧咧地亮在朝天门， 是可忍孰不可忍！莫忘国耻，莫要贻羞先哲！
