Thagirion9 the recessive features also go for albino budgies. My mom was given a white budgie last year she looked like she was already an adult but just last week I was noticing she still had the black of the eyes and now I am wondering if maybe it’s a he. Which would explain why she hasn’t bred.
I have a question I have a male and female budgie, her Cere has turned a darker brown, ..I did put a nesting box in a few days ago. She has a love /hate relationship with the male. There are times they coo near each other, and lock beaks. and other times if he goes near her she hacks at him.(squawks) whatever you want to call it.. So they have good chirping times together and other times shes a bit crazy.. People tell me shes hormonal .. This is my first try at breeding budgies

I see that you have wood chips of sorts in your nest boxes. Whenever I try to put any sort of nesting material in my nest boxes, the females pull all of it out. Is there a way to prevent this? Is it okay for them to lay their eggs/raise their young straight on the wood floor of the box?

We purchased a Parent fed Budgie baby who didn’t leave the nest; shop owner said the Mom was ready to lay more eggs and baby was at risk to be killed. We’ve had him less than 48 hrs, I’m force hand feeding him, but he refuses to open his beak for me and really puts up a struggle; I’m pretty sure he’s not enjoying the experience, but I’m afraid he will die if I don’t do it. And if they get too close to each other the male and female peck at each other. The males beak is not royal blue instead a dull grey blue. As soon as they're out of the cage, you can safely start handling them. Though you shouldn't try to teach them tricks and stuff until they're independent (flying, eating and drinking on their own)!
I have an albino female budgie who is paired with a male not split for albino. I have an another male who is split for albino. I wish to pair the albino female 2nd male. Do you have any idea how to pair them inorder to get the desired result? Now they are all in flight cage with other birds.
Hello. Unless you can trace their bloodline it will be random :) but because they have the gene you should get the desired result if paired with the 2nd male
I have heard albino budgies are not very good at breeding. Are there any reasons for this and can I fix it? I really want to try and find a way to avoid this obstacle because my two budgies are bonded VERY closely and think they would be great parents, I’m not sure if their genes would work amazing together though. If it matters, the male budgie is albino (idk you are the experienced one here)
It's best not to breed tame birds, simply because they will get a lot more aggressive while laying etc. and will become a little less tame (since you won't be able to take them out every day).
If i keep my budgies in an aviary when their babies are gonna come out, should i keep the babies in the aviary or keep them separately to stop imbreeding?

I have three budgies 2 females and one male, the pair has laid eggs and 4 hatched. The single female is (chicks 2 weeks old) frequently looking into the nestbox and the mum keeps on fighting her back. mum also isn‘t allowing the dad to be in the nestbox anymore and fights him off if he comes near the chicks. However let’s him feed her outside in the cage. Do I have to remove the single female??????????????😔

I have a question. I have no nesting boxes and here in the Philippines, we don’t have big cages. And, my budgies are kinda weird.... They fight in front of me, but when I’m not there, they just act lovey-dovey.... So, how do I make sure they at least lay an egg?
@@amarislindsey9505 It depends on how big it is, how much room there is for eggs to be laid and all that other stuff. You'd be surprised how much room baby budgies start to take up when they grow! Plus, budgies can be very picky with their nests. They may not like it. No problem, BTW.
Well it is as big to probably have 4 babies. What nesting box size can you recommend? BTW, thanks! ( Do they need to be tamed in order to do this? The only reason I’m doing this is because I would try to tame their babies.)
@@amarislindsey9505 It's ideal to have a nest box that is roughly the length of your forearm- the arm between your elbow and wrist. But I can't guarantee whether or not your budgies will use the coconut; there's no way to really make them use a place for nesting. Do you have access to eBay?

I am a newbie accidental breeder. I bought four birds in a flight cage from a neighbor, whose husband didn't like the noise. The birds were about 6 mos. old and she had no idea what sex they were. As they matured I had two bonded pairs! One pair has 3 chicks, oldest is 2 weeks . The mother is extremely protective. Two of her eggs haven't hatched. QUESTIONS: when should I remove eggs? when may I touch the chicks? When should I move the chicks to another larger box to be placed on bottom of a large flight cage so that they can learn to eat seeds and not fall from their nesting box? Thank you.

Oh yes and black eyed clears keep the lovely baby qualities too. I love an all white or all yellow budgie with black eyes.

They need to get used to a box or they wont hatch the eggs

Every Budgie is different but as soon as a hen starts to show sings of struggling then I would stop breeding her :)

FEmales Have Pink, Brown or a creamy Brown colour above their beaks, MALES Have Blue ones
Unless it is an albino, then the males have pink Ceres

I have an albino female budgie who is paired with a male not split for albino. I have an another male who is split for albino. I wish to pair the albino female 2nd male. Do you have any idea how to pair them inorder to get the desired result? Now they are all in flight cage with other birds.
Hello. Unless you can trace their bloodline it will be random :) but because they have the gene you should get the desired result if paired with the 2nd male

I have heard albino budgies are not very good at breeding. Are there any reasons for this and can I fix it? I really want to try and find a way to avoid this obstacle because my two budgies are bonded VERY closely and think they would be great parents, I’m not sure if their genes would work amazing together though.
If it matters, the male budgie is albino (idk you are the experienced one here)

Can you breed tame birds, and will they remain tame?
It's best not to breed tame birds, simply because they will get a lot more aggressive while laying etc. and will become a little less tame (since you won't be able to take them out every day).
If i keep my budgies in an aviary when their babies are gonna come out, should i keep the babies in the aviary or keep them separately to stop imbreeding?

I have three budgies 2 females and one male, the pair has laid eggs and 4 hatched. The single female is (chicks 2 weeks old) frequently looking into the nestbox and the mum keeps on fighting her back. mum also isn‘t allowing the dad to be in the nestbox anymore and fights him off if he comes near the chicks. However let’s him feed her outside in the cage. Do I have to remove the single female??????????????😔
yes never have a spare female as they will fight over nest boxes

I have a question. I have no nesting boxes and here in the Philippines, we don’t have big cages. And, my budgies are kinda weird.... They fight in front of me, but when I’m not there, they just act lovey-dovey.... So, how do I make sure they at least lay an egg?
You shouldn't let them lay eggs without a nest box.

@@amarislindsey9505 It depends on how big it is, how much room there is for eggs to be laid and all that other stuff. You'd be surprised how much room baby budgies start to take up when they grow! Plus, budgies can be very picky with their nests. They may not like it. No problem, BTW.
Well it is as big to probably have 4 babies. What nesting box size can you recommend? BTW, thanks! ( Do they need to be tamed in order to do this? The only reason I’m doing this is because I would try to tame their babies.)
@@amarislindsey9505 It's ideal to have a nest box that is roughly the length of your forearm- the arm between your elbow and wrist. But I can't guarantee whether or not your budgies will use the coconut; there's no way to really make them use a place for nesting. Do you have access to eBay?

I am a newbie accidental breeder. I bought four birds in a flight cage from a neighbor, whose husband didn't like the noise. The birds were about 6 mos. old and she had no idea what sex they were. As they matured I had two bonded pairs! One pair has 3 chicks, oldest is 2 weeks . The mother is extremely protective. Two of her eggs haven't hatched. QUESTIONS: when should I remove eggs? when may I touch the chicks? When should I move the chicks to another larger box to be placed on bottom of a large flight cage so that they can learn to eat seeds and not fall from their nesting box? Thank you.
What should I do if my budgie is having eggs on the bottom of the cage and roosting on them? My husband moved the egg last time and she rejected/cracked it open.
