  • Talk’s Julia Hartley-Brewer is joined by Callum McGoldrick, researcher at the TaxPayers' Alliance to discuss the Government’s plans to cut back Civil Service diversity roles.
‘Common sense minister’ Esther McVey said there would be no more spending on external equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) contracts without an explicit sign-off from a minister, and no more EDI-focused Whitehall jobs outside human resources.
Callum says diversity jobs are costing millions and praises the Government for “beginning to tackle it”.

To answer your question, the majority of staff work in the office most of the time. Before anybody jumps in and says "oh, so you think safety is not important"....If you look closely at just how much HSE interferes with everyday life, you would be shocked. eg. just look at the litter in our streets and highways, and ask why that's not picked up (of course should not be dropped). somebody has risk assessed picking up litter and decided it's too dangerous to pick that rubbish up. I am not joking....the highways England litter policy even states that it's nobody's responsibility to pick up litter from central reservations. Other countries manage it, but not the UK

The pity about this proposal is that it won't be implemented because the Tories will be booted out within a few months. So this conversation is just chewing the cud.

They all say what people want to hear at election time . There should be laws put in place that any policy they say their going to do they should at least try to do, otherwise we will continue to get the same bs every time

Waste of wages! Sick of paying for this nonsense. Paying people to decide that something or other is racist, bigoted or trans phobic. Ridiculous!!
