- My review of the Marmot Tungsten Ultralight 2 person tent. We hadn't planned for a winter campout but it performed remarkably well in the blusterous, frigid rocky mountains. Unfortunately, I only captured half of my review and accidentally turned off the camera midway without knowing. Watch to learn more.

Update: I just got back from an Alaskan Caribou hunt in the Arctic Circle and am happy to say that the tent performed very well. It withstood the gale-force winds and the Alaskan side blowing rainstorms. Great tent!
Hey great review. It looks like it gets pretty cold inside with all that mesh around... I know it helps a lot the condensation... But how was it? Did you feel the wind coming inside the tent? like a breeze or something...? I am going to trek 12 days in Torres del Paine during fall season and I am a bit concerned about this tent... There are heavy winds. My question is about that... if you felt any breeze inside while you where sleeping.... and how about rain... did you have the oportunity to test it with heavy rains? Thanks a lot
@@Francisco.Rizzuti Yes it performed very well in Alaska. We had gale-force winds daily with some heavy rain on one day. Surprisingly, the wind did not enter the tent. I was very concerned about that when I purchased the tent but since then I have had it in some crazy weather where it performed flawlessly. Just make sure you use the tie-cords and anchor the fly out and away from tent and you will be fine. When I have time, I will link another video showing the wind beat the crap out of my tent.
I should note that in Alaska we were anticipating heavy rain and snow so we did suspend an ultralight tarp that spanned the length of both our tents. We did this to keep the area around dryer and give us more of an area to sit and stay out of the weather.

Just picked one of these up for a great price. Since the tent itself is asymmetric (one side is 54" and the other end is 46"), I noticed that the fly itself is asymmetric in that sense as well, so it can only fit properly in one orientation. The longer side of the rain fly is the side with the openable vent. I noted that some reviewers had issues with sagging in the fly, and I'm wondering if they had the fly on backwards. There are two red tabs on the fly, which is wrong, there should only be one.

Thanks for a real-world review. How does it go in high winds? I'm thinking of getting one of these but they look very tall and narrow, especially the 1 person version. With only 9 anchor points it looks like it wouldn't take much to tear it off the ground.

It performed great in high winds. I have a video that I will post soon which will show the high winds it endured. No broken poles. Anytime I am on a summit or area prone to high winds I stack rocks on top of my anchors and have yet to experience an uprooted tent.
@@BigHunterification I have a low profile wedge-shaped 1P tent with 10 anchor points, and in high winds on mountain tops even that gets pretty dicey. I had to stack big rocks all around the edges once and the constant wind gusts caused them to tear holes in the base of the fly. Kept me anchored and alive though! That's why I'm after a new tent now. I can't use it in rain anymore. I'll look out for your windy video. Thanks again and safe hiking.
