The first 30 minutes were ROUGH. Saying that, the rest of the movie was pretty badass
I'm surprised how much I enjoyed the movie. I know that a lot of people are complaining about the tone but to me it felt like a goofy dark comedy and I liked it for that.

As soon as the news came out that Tom Hardy compared it to Ren and Stimpy, I thought ok Dark Comedy. I really enjoyed it.

I went in with low expectations and honestly really liked it. I feel like the guys are really comparing it too much to the MCU movies and it just doesn't have the legs for it. It was in no way as bad as any of them made it out to be. My dudes went in wanting to hate it.
Kevin is just too critical. Especially when he thinks he already knows how he is gonna feel about something.

i really liked this movie. it was good. the action was awesome. the cast was good, the acting was really good. the dialogue at times was cheesy. same with some of the jokes. in general this is the kind of comedy i want though, and the right amount. i don't want to be bombarded by it like in MCU movies. of course they will criticize anything that isn't their precious Marvel studios but it's not horrible

Movie aside, watching Portillo jump into Greg’s arms was the most adorable thing I’ve seen.
I hope it's not the lowering of the bar, but man, I kind of enjoyed it. I didn't mind Eddie Brock being so goofy, because I don't see him being upbeat as a strange way to cope with the strange shit happening. I sure think things that way, so I wouldn't past someone to say those quips out loud. On top of that, I found myself invested in the story even before Venom arrived in full force. At the very least, I already cared about Eddie's redemption. If anything, my biggest gripe has to be how all the symbiote stuff LOOKED. The CG wasn't great, and it probably doesn't help that this alien looks like a comic character, in the face, for no reason. Not that I need Spider Man for this story, but I just think he probably should look more alien than stylistic if they continued keeping things grounded.
Yall have such a hate boner against the raimi movies it's insane there is absolutely no way you guys legitimately think ASM2 is better then Spider-man 2 or 1 those movies haven't aged well but ASM2 is legitimately an awful movie with a sinhle good scene
WaffleOnTheRun Nah. If you dont enjoy the more campy raimi style, then theres not much there for people to watch. Amazing Spiderman 2 has multiple good scenes surrounded by bad shit. But i agree that spiderman 2 and ASM2 should be swapped

Ive literally just got home after seeing the movie and from the get go when this was first announced up until sitting in my seat to watch it I was always 50/50 when it came to excitement and if this was gonna be bad, good or great... and I’ll be straight up I found this whole movie a lot better than I ever imagined it would be and it ended up as a really enjoyable movie adaption for Venom and the only true injustice is not having Spider-Man involved in some way or form + Eddie’s Venom has been a Anti-Hero for at least the last 20 or so years minimum so that’s what you should’ve expected, whereas if you thought you were going to see a Villain as the main character then that’s on you and is part of the reason you may have been disappointed.
I’m not saying this film was perfect but it is definitely worth seeing to get your own opinion but I do think it’s fun and enjoyable with a simple story not confusing and is a solid 7/10 in my books + Tom Hardy did a great job as both Eddie and Venom, interested to see if we get to see these deleted scenes on a Blu-ray release.

I remember there was an episode about rdr2 and he asked someone if it was fun and the way he asked that made it seem like that's all he cares about and wouldn't play the game if it wasn't. This guy is literally what you call a man-child and probably one of the factors why colin left.

In my personal opinion, it’s crazy that Venom has the best movie in the Spider-Man universe.

Anit-Hero Venom is the Venom Comics that People loved. villain Venom is a Footnote of the character.

I honestly enjoyed the movie. There were some weird parts about it though, like the jarring tone differences.
I still really want to see Venom face off against Spider-Man once Tom Holland's Spider-Man matures. It's just hard to see this Venom as an antagonist since Eddie would definitely classify Spider-Man as a "good guy".
This is why Sony should just completely give up the Spider-Man rights. They really do not care about the characters, it's so clear with every movie since Spider-Man 3. They don't get it, I don't want them behind anything anymore. Nonetheless I gotta see it. I know it's bad, but it looks mildly better than Amazing Spiderweb-Hands.

I don't think they've read recent Venom comics because I think they nailed the Brock/Venom relationship. This isn't ASM Venom, this is 2000-present character style. Also, the pace of the movie reflects the way Venom comics read (fast paced, little exposition and deliberate). You are entitled to your opinion but know the source material please.

I actually really enjoyed Venom and hope they continue the series. The only problem I had with the movie is when the movie was awkwardly funny when it wasn’t supposed to be. I see all the points this review has though and understand why some people wouldn’t enjoy it.

This is basically another Sony movie similar to TASM series:
Great casting especially the lead, weak scripts and tonally a mess. And marketing and trailers which show the last scenes of the movie.
The only thing they didn't do in this movie is try to cram a shitload of breadcrumbs and unnecessary storylines to make spinoffs.
The movie is decent though since we haven't seen venom in a movie properly, the dynamic between Eddie and Venom is quite fun. 6/10

I liked the movie also I feel like they dont know anything about Venom in the comics and their preconceived notions of how they think Venom is as a character is based on how he looks because he is a sassy asshole in the comics

I personally LOVED the movie. I saw a small glimpse of reviews and thought fuck, whatever, the trailer looked awesome, I’m still gonna watch it. I went in, and I came out not disappointed at all. I loved it. I think my only problem was that the beginning was a little slow, but I think it build up to the full Venom reveal nicely. Also, I think if it was rated R, I would have loved it a little more. I will say I’ve never read a Venom comic, but I think I might as soon after this. I remember seeing venom in spider man 3 and I’ve wanted a venom movie ever since. Oh and she-venom: I liked a lot. All in all, I really loved the movie, I might have a slight bias. I understand why some people might not like it, but it’s definitely worth to see. I feel like a lot of the complaints are kinda, I don’t know, I’ve read some other comics and a lot of their complaints about the movie are same complaints that you’d see in other comic or superhero media. Anyways, I loved the movie, and I can’t wait for the next movie

Venom was dumb fun. I really enjoyed the banter between Venom and Eddie. It was a writing mess but damn if I didn't enjoy it WAY more than amazing spiderman 2.

Venom wasn’t bad. Tonal problems sure but I liked it.
I went in with low expectations and still left the movie disappointed as heck. Also regarding the mid-credits scene.... I love Woody.. but to me he just doesn't fit that completely unhinged manic personality his character needs. If that movie happens I hope he proves me wrong and kills it.. but based on what I just watched I can't say I feel confident about anything regarding this new Symbiote movie universe.
I had so much fun from this movie. Loved it. This felt like the venom from ultimate spider one of my favorite spidey games. No web slinging, Gaint leaps and eating people for health. Theatre i was in laughed a lot its genuinely funny at times. I totally see why some will not like it but I love every second of it and hope they make a sequel. But lets be honest even if you hated it, I say its 100% worth it to see for Tom Hardy he is a notch a above this great cast.
