Thank you for giving us a taste of Vegas. I thought you'd enjoy SW Steakhouse a little more, but when you ordered the NY strip.i knew there would be trouble because you ordered the same thing at Sparks and they make the best sirloin anywhere Golden Steer looks like the place to go. Looking forward to your return to NY reviews ...I'm the meantime , be well.
UA, I love your channel. There is something so authentic and real about it, keep it simple like you do, and I am sure you will grow and grow as a channel. Couple of remarks: 1. Could the bread be more like a Chala jewish bread, the kind eaten on Friday night at the Kidush? 2. Gauda is a Dutch cheese and is pronounced Ja-oo-da
1. It’s Challah. And challah is just egg bread w honey. And it doesn’t taste like a pretzel. Ans there would be no salt. 2. It’s Gouda. Not Gauda. In the states it’s pronounced Goo da or Gow da. In the Netherlands it’s How da.
Don’t lose the average guy side of your reviews. I appreciate it. I could go to the Wynn as a once in a lifetime thing, but would choose The Golden Steer because of your reviews
I appreciate your disclaimer about jus showing up and using a name they wouldn't associate with your TH-cam channel and that you always pay out of pocket. Respect. You need to mention that a few more times in coming videos so people know...especialy newbs to your channel so they know exactly what's up. Keep up the great content UA!
A bit of advice for when you eventually go to Japan. There are numerous kinds of Wagyu that are considered far superior to Kobe, (And are more expensive, of course) but because it's *so* rich, make sure and be careful about how much you eat in a short period of time. (IE don't go to two steak houses in one day, or IMO even back to back) because it sort of just overwhelms your taste buds so it starts tasting all the same and you miss out on the uniqueness of each kind of Wagyu. Also avoid Ichiran like the plague for Ramen, there are about 100 billion places that are superior and cheaper.
The best thing about SW Steakhouse is all it takes is a $20 tip, and you will get seated with a perfect view of the Lake of Dreams show. Best $20 you will ever spend in Vegas. The food is pretty good, too..
8:32 Props for the server offering half sides...unusual for them to offer a discount instead of trying to sell 2 different whole sides. I'd probably tip more for that. Brilliant, I'd rather tip her the difference for the intel instead of overspending without it.
Excellent video. I was at Prime last week in the Bellagio and felt similar. The sides, appetizers, and dessert were spot on. Some on the best I've had. I equated the steak (bone-in ribeye) to a steak I would expect from a truck stop diner. SO disappointed and not worth the price.
Excellent as always. Even when you have the big bucks I hope you generally keep to choosing the menu options most of us would be able to experience as a normal special occasion. You’ll absolutely love Japan when you get there.
I worked at the Wynn and Encore for almost 4 years until 2022. Great property! PS the window only looks out to the patio and the Lake of Dreams, not the Strip 😊
are you a fan of steak and eggs? i tried that for the first time recently with 2 sunny sides and 3 strips of a tender well done steak. fried to warm it up in the same pan as the eggs. its insane. its not bacon but just as good.
I thought you had to ask first if you can video tape it. Wasn’t one time at some high / afternoon tea place a staff came during your meal and told you weren’t allowed to video there, but you told her you had called ahead and permission was granted?
I liked Sparks steakhouse on 2nd Ave in NYC. If you've never eaten there, I would give it a shot. I used to take my clients there. They liked it very much.
Enjoyed the video. Like the idea of making reviews accessible... but I think if you go all out to a place like SW you have to go with the Kobe or at least the Rib eye or Porterhouse.
The strip steak that you got at Sparks is obviously the top notch premium. That steak looked incredible. Dark crust on both sides. The middle looked like the consistency of a filet.
Started watching your content recently. You have all the trappings of someone who has a bright future. Keep up the good work, God bless and much love sir.
Awesome review! There’s a ton of places in vegas to eat! Maybe upon your return, you could do places like Earl of sandwich, not necessarily fancy restaurants or buffets. But hey, it’s your channel, do your thing and I’ll keep watching! See ya on the next one, UA!!
Ah, I was wondering if you were going to go to either this steakhouse or the other really famous (expensive) steakhouse and sure enough, SW it is. The other steakhouse is really much more expensive overall - they literally have an A5 Wagyu steak that's like $1200. So the prices at SW are much more in line with other higher end spots but overall still more expensive than steakhouses in NY or LA etc. BUT, SW makes a good steak. At least when I used to go to Vegas. Last time I went was in 2002, and it was a terrific time. But then again I also was staying at the Wynn that trip and boy gambling sure a thing eh?
SO GLAD you ditched the ragtime music. Good work on this vid. Appreciate your channel description. Good stuff. Choosing a steak you could review elsewhere gives this vid great relevance.
Dinner at SW was so memorable from start to finish - from the ambiance to the service to the food and drink. Been going to Vegas for decades and now live here and for me it's one of the best in Vegas. There are others I rate as highly. Have to say if you want to point out over rated steak houses I think Golden Steer is one of those. It has a great history but I've been several times now and while it's good and I enjoyed it but its not in the top 5. Actually sometimes the best steak is NOT at a steak house. Recently had a steak at Bala Italian at Sahara - was to die for....seriously good and not over priced. I love Joes for steaks. Oscars. Bazaar Meat. And for old time Vegas vibe The Steak House at Circus Circus is tops. There are SO MANY steak houses in Vegas - all of the ones I've listed here worth it.
UA… there’s a gem inside the Wynn. The tableau. Gotta eat breakfast or brunch there and if the weather is ok you must get an outside table by the pool. You will love it. Get the juice flight!
As a Vegas resident I love Herbs and Rye on Sahara. The 16oz ribeye is delicious and The Golden Steer for the filet mignon and the table side Ceasers salad. That New York strip looked dry and the spinach was extremely overcooked, I avoid steakhouses on the Strip because the prices are ridiculous.
UA, I appreciate your honesty, diligence and impartiality in these videos - in my opinion, it makes your videos a great deal more appealing. The SW review takes it to another level, although I wonder if that pretzel bread MAY have been elevated by some butter (unless I missed it). Arguably, at that location, it should have delivered immediately without augmentation (now I sound like Spock).
After your review of the menu prices I agree that the food needs to be equal to or exceed the stated value. In this case it appears the prices leans more toward being on the Wynn property rather than the quality of the offerings. When I lived in Las Vegas you could get high quality food for a reasonable price but Las Vegas has fallen into the trap of providing fancy trappings to qualify the high prices. Good reviews.
15:15 Looks like sous vide to the perfect temp, then grilled when it's picked up. The grey band is so small, yet the char is looks like they just mark it to finish. For these prices I would assume they're immersion circulating all of the steaks then marking to finish... and resting. That's why the sear isn't so good, but the steak is perfect inside. On that note, the beef didn't look properly marbled, which I think UA mentioned. Strange to have good technique, but lesser quality meat, and not as charred as it should be.
I usually go to SW around 2 out of every 3 years. Including the ambience, it is my third favorite steakhouse behind Strip Steak and Bally's Steakhouse which has been replaced with Binion's Steakhouse. My last visit to SW was a little off. The flavor wasn't up to SW standards. It was probably just that one occurrence, and I will definitely not let a single visit stop me from going back. Although the price might. I love the show on the pond every half-hour.
Another great video! Creamed spinach is supposed to be creamy. That looks like every creamed spinach I've ever had. Same with the NY Strip. It looked great but no different than what I can get at Texas Roadhouse or Outback. If you want better marbling, you have to go with the ribeye. Good review. I look forward to your next video.
I’ve been to Wolfgang’s Steakhouse (midtown location) and Rocco’s Steakhouse in NYC. Wolfgang’s is my favorite, The Porterhouse, Cream Spinach, German Potatoes, Mac n Cheese, and that Crabcake is great. Only been a few times for special occassions
Ok I was anxious for this review because SW is my favorite steakhouse in Vegas. I will tell you I was shocked at the bread. They changed it. Use to be a variety of breads in a basket. Pretzel sticks, muffin type bread and onion bread. Also the bone in ribeye is to die for. Wish you had gotten it but it really went up in price. Sides are excellent. Too bad you weren’t thrilled but I can’t say I blame you.
8:00 If you plan to go to Japan I suggest actually leaning about Japanese beef first. When people use "Kobe" as a catch all for Japanese beef, it becomes obvious they don't understand Kobe is just a City in Japan. In Japan 'Wagyu" is the term for Japanese cattle. There are grades that describe the marbling and and the ratio of fat content. The letter grade is the marbling and the number grade is the over all quality. A5 being the most sought after. However, you may in fact prefer a B5 for example if you like your beef a little leaner. P.S. most Wagyu in America is a lie. Ranchers may have have imported Japanese Cattle and call it wagyu or Kobe, and sometimes it's imported from another country like Australia. Just as you shouldn't call a sparking white from California a champagne you shouldn't call wagyu raised in Texas Kobe.
I have eaten there twice.First time three guys split a NY and a Rib Steak.Best we have ever had.2nd time last year there with my sons we had a Porterhouse. It was good but I preferred the Rib and NY from the first time.
Hey UA, I’m a fan and was curious where about are you from? I see you rocking the Eagles hat a lot and talking about NJ, I currently live about 45mins to an hour outside of Seattle but am originally from Gloucester City/Camden City area and the Eagles are my team
Me and Family are headed back to Vegas but this time will try Bavettes they don't charge for Bernaise sauce and the meat picks look a whole lot better than SW ?
Note not all Wagyu is from Kobe. It’s just the most well known in the west. There’s many regions that raise Wagyu: Matsuzaka, Ohmi, Hilda etc. let me know if you come to Japan!
This video concludes the Vegas series. I hope you enjoyed them! Happy Lunar New Year to those who celebrate it and enjoy the Super Bowl!

Couple of remarks:

The steak at 11:20 looks awesome. Best part is that there are no juices on the plate, so they definitely rested it well.
A prime Strip steak would have much more marbling?
8:00 If you plan to go to Japan I suggest actually leaning about Japanese beef first. When people use "Kobe" as a catch all for Japanese beef, it becomes obvious they don't understand Kobe is just a City in Japan. In Japan 'Wagyu" is the term for Japanese cattle. Japanese beef or wagyu can be categorized by the region the cattle come from. For example Akita, Hitachi, Yamagata... or Kobe. Kobe is just a city in Japan's Hyogo Prefecture that has really good marketing. You should explore wagyu from ALL regions of Japan.
Beef from any regions in Japan goes through a grading process.
