It sounds as though Mom had mentally rehearsed what she wanted to say for quite a while, as she was able to speak her piece clearly, logically, and succinctly. She may have been simply waiting for her perfect time.
OP in the first story is one of the most sweetest, kindest, and caring people I've seen in these videos. He loved Daria so much he was literally willing to sacrifice ever seeing her again, and thank the lord Reddit convinced him otherwise. What he and Daria have is something truly special, and proof that love, while blind, is resilient.

I'm a rainbow baby. When I found out I was like "Oh, that must have really sucked for Mama.". Other than that, it's not really something I bring up much unless the actual conversation about it pops up. It's more of a quirky "about you" fact than really something to identify with. If anything it should mean more to the parents since they were the ones who had to go through the miscarriages...
I'm glad none of my family members (who I'm close with) are like that with their children. Meaning like treating them if they can't do anything wrong and raise them as a spoiled child.
I was born after a miscarriage and a stillbirth. My parents called me a double rainbow baby and, whenever I was super sad, my mom would tell me how scared they were that I wouldn't make it. I used to like telling people I was a rainbow baby, but that was when I was like 7. Its something that you grow out of, or at least you should grow out of.

I never even knew that I was technically a rainbow baby until I was an adult when my mum told me she had a pregnancy, resulting in a miscarriage before I was even around. I don't understand why either kids who are rainbow babies want crap to be all about them or parents that want whole events to be about their "miracles" when it's not deserved apart from narcissism and entitlement

That second one the OP's sister really grinds my gears. She's taking her mom's struggles, losses and heartache and making it all about her. I can see laughing at that absurdity myself. As a refugee helper I know those stories like the second to last one. They are incredibly sweet. It is amazing to see people you helped to get on their feet suddenly blooming. I love this so much.
Just so you knew, if OP is from Belarus or Russia, and Daria is in France, she wasn't hinting at OP coming to visit by comparing pastries. He wouldn't be able to go to France without visa, and as a former (or even current) citizen of the same country she'd be well aware of it. Sometimes pastry is just pastry.
I fully believe she was inviting him - if she is willing to go to him. Living in a western country and assimilating, you forget how locked up other countries are and that visas are required for smallest shit and I think this was the case. He moved from his original country, she didn't know where he was, why would she know which country requires visa and which does not to visit France, especially when if you live in France, you don't feel restrictions like this.

Story 1: Really glad this worked out. I resonated with OP's "she might not even remember me at all." I've felt this way about a lot of people in my past that I've cared for, but maybe only had a light friendship with, only to find out that, not only did they remember me, but were thrilled to hear from me. Even if it's been years, if you're thinking about someone (platonic or romantic) reach out, say hi, just check in - you never know how much it could mean to them, and you probably mean more to them than you give yourself credit for.
For the "Reunited" story, I empathize with the way they understood each other more than Daria's friends could. My girlfriend and I are both recently 18 and have been dealing with mental issues together. It is DEFINITELY easier to understand and love people who have had similar experiences to you. I hope they, and everyone watching this video, have a good end of the school year :D
I dont read reddit, but I like to watch ytbers that reads them for me while I'm doing chores. Rslash is my favorite by far. He is so exciting for the people in the stories, like when he screaming "SHE IS COMMING TO VISIT" on story 1 its so amazing, shows real happiness for the couple.❤
How about we focus on the actual living human beings instead of something that has the potential become my human life. And how about we don't deny women Healthcare like they are doing in the United States and women are coming close to dying and going through extremely traumatic events because people's religious fervour and their feelings are more important than somebody having access to basic Healthcare.

Wasn't expecting the first story to be this wholesome, I heard so many stories about AH significant others it kinda gave me this thought of a twisted reality. But I'm glad to hear not all stories are like that.
It’s worth keeping in mind that only the “interesting” lives turn into stories. So all the people who live happy, mundane lives rarely see a reason to post their life stories online. I think that’s why there’s an overwhelming majority of negative elements in these stories. They make people upset, and those upset people want to ask for advice or express their frustrations. So remember that the AHs we hear about here, are not indicative of how many people are AHs in real life.
First story: awesome. No notes, OP. Wishing you both wonderful lives. Second story: I understand miscarriages to be hugely traumatic. Having the surviving baby CONSTANTLY bringing them up, to gloat no less AND steal your grief by claiming she mourns them, sounds horrific. No wonder the mom has been avoiding her.

A rainbow baby isn't about the baby as much as it is about the parents. I was the first live birth after several losses. It wasn't a topic of conversation and I don't remember how it came about that my mother told me. It's an odd thing to brag about.
@Shannon P I know right I found out after I asked how my dad proposed. My mum said she was pregnant, but I thought weird because the dates didn't add up. So she told me about her troubles with pregnancy. Which I've had myself (seems to run in the family) But it never crossed my mind to bring it up with her again, never mind at a party or something.

Exactly. Russia is known for doing such things and hiding them. Like it's not 100% illegal but it is. I have barely an affiliation with Russia (my granddad was) but my mom is Ukrainian. And all of this makes sense to me.

The 1st story is so cute 🥺 I've had a penpal for about 2,5 years at this point and I've visited her twice when I've spent 2 semesters in her country as an exchange student. It seemed like we wouldn't see each other very soon, when we parted ways she even said that it seemed like a once in a lifetime opportunity... About half a year after I got back, she started sending me random messages like "I miss you ❤" throughout the day, and we started chatting every day (until then, we mostly talked through letters, still do it to this day). It would have probably been very obvious to every outsider that we missed each other *a lot*... well, I'm very oblivious. But I've convinced myself to ask her if she's flirting with me. Well, our conversations just became increasingly romantic and s€xual in the following months. Anywayyy... all that led to me planning a holiday at her place, I just have to wait until summer break to see my angel again and I can't wait for that ❤ It can definitely feel surreal!
I work for a small town newspaper and I'm currently working on a story similar to the first one here. It started 90 years ago when Lorraine and her family moved in next door to Edgar and his family when both were about 1 year old. They grew up together, played together, walked to school together, and were basically best friends. Then, when Lorraine was 9, she and her family were in a car accident. Her parents were killed and Lorraine and her older sister went to live with an aunt in another state with basically no warning. Fast forward to 2021 and Lorraine and her daughter come visit the town where she grew up for her mom's birthday, and while talking with a local historian, mention her "boyfriend" Edgar (she used air quotes when she said it). And it turned out that Edgar was still alive and well and living on his farm just outside of town. One phone call later, and Lorraine and Edgar were reunited after 80 years! They're staying in touch by email, and Lorraine and her daughter have made trips to see Edgar for Lorraine's birthday for the past two years.
I was a rainbow baby. I didn't even know the term existed until I was in my twenties. And I never used it for bragging rights. Why would someone want to use the fact that their mother lost a few pregnancies before she had them? Did the sister ever consider how painful that would be for her mother? Then again, considering the kind of person she is, I doubt she's capable of that.

However, she's using it in a narcissistic way to make it all about HER. From what we've seen before, I would've thought that a lot of her pride in being a rainbow baby comes from her parents. I’m technically a rainbow baby (though I didn’t know that was a term until listening to rslash stories) and it boggles my mind how people can act so entitled about it. Like, my parents care obviously since they wanted to have a kid, and it matters some to me because it showed me that my parents truly wanted me in their lives. But I don’t think I’ve ever brought it up in conversation? With the exception of if people asked if I or my parents wanted siblings or something. Because no one else cares??? I'm a rainbow baby. When I found out I was like "Oh, that must have really sucked for Mama.". Other than that, it's not really something I bring up much unless the actual conversation about it pops up. It's more of a quirky "about you" fact than really something to identify with. If anything it should mean more to the parents since they were the ones who had to go through the miscarriages...
I'm glad none of my family members (who I'm close with) are like that with their children. Meaning like treating them if they can't do anything wrong and raise them as a spoiled child.

I was born after a miscarriage and a stillbirth. My parents called me a double rainbow baby and, whenever I was super sad, my mom would tell me how scared they were that I wouldn't make it. I used to like telling people I was a rainbow baby, but that was when I was like 7. Its something that you grow out of, or at least you should grow out of.
OP's sister didn't even know she was a Rainbow baby before she was 21, and it was just after that, it became her personality.

I never even knew that I was technically a rainbow baby until I was an adult when my mum told me she had a pregnancy, resulting in a miscarriage before I was even around. I don't understand why either kids who are rainbow babies want crap to be all about them or parents that want whole events to be about their "miracles" when it's not deserved apart from narcissism and entitlement

Obviously, sister's whole personality is her beating the odds and not being a miscarriage and OP was right to say what they said. Also, so she is the kind of person that would rather risk her kid dying than take them to a doctor....I feel bad for those kids. Lmaoooo no way in hell did she go to their mom to basically tattle on OP 😂. Only to get the much kinder version of OP's respose. That second one the OP's sister really grinds my gears. She's taking her mom's struggles, losses and heartache and making it all about her. I can see laughing at that absurdity myself. It unmitigated gall to the extreme. OP's mom's clap back was glorious. Also OP needs to tell those kids to talk to a teacher or school counselor.

Just so you knew, if OP is from Belarus or Russia, and Daria is in France, she wasn't hinting at OP coming to visit by comparing pastries. He wouldn't be able to go to France without visa, and as a former (or even current) citizen of the same country she'd be well aware of it. Sometimes pastry is just pastry.
I fully believe she was inviting him - if she is willing to go to him. Living in a western country and assimilating, you forget how locked up other countries are and that visas are required for smallest shit and I think this was the case. He moved from his original country, she didn't know where he was, why would she know which country requires visa and which does not to visit France, especially when if you live in France, you don't feel restrictions like this.

Story 1: Really glad this worked out. I resonated with OP's "she might not even remember me at all." I've felt this way about a lot of people in my past that I've cared for, but maybe only had a light friendship with, only to find out that, not only did they remember me, but were thrilled to hear from me. Even if it's been years, if you're thinking about someone (platonic or romantic) reach out, say hi, just check in - you never know how much it could mean to them, and you probably mean more to them than you give yourself credit for.
For the "Reunited" story, I empathize with the way they understood each other more than Daria's friends could. My girlfriend and I are both recently 18 and have been dealing with mental issues together. It is DEFINITELY easier to understand and love people who have had similar experiences to you. I hope they, and everyone watching this video, have a good end of the school year :D

How about we focus on the actual living human beings instead of something that has the potential become my human life. And how about we don't deny women Healthcare like they are doing in the United States and women are coming close to dying and going through extremely traumatic events because people's religious fervour and their feelings are more important than somebody having access to basic Healthcare.

Wasn't expecting the first story to be this wholesome, I heard so many stories about AH significant others it kinda gave me this thought of a twisted reality. But I'm glad to hear not all stories are like that.
It’s worth keeping in mind that only the “interesting” lives turn into stories. So all the people who live happy, mundane lives rarely see a reason to post their life stories online.
I think that’s why there’s an overwhelming majority of negative elements in these stories. They make people upset, and those upset people want to ask for advice or express their frustrations.

Second story: I understand miscarriages to be hugely traumatic. Having the surviving baby CONSTANTLY bringing them up, to gloat no less AND steal your grief by claiming she mourns them, sounds horrific. No wonder the mom has been avoiding her.

A rainbow baby isn't about the baby as much as it is about the parents. I was the first live birth after several losses. It wasn't a topic of conversation and I don't remember how it came about that my mother told me. It's an odd thing to brag about.

Am I the only one that found it weird Ralash went immediately to assuming that a meet up would have passionate hugging? Like the story was so cute until THAT. Like, can’t a cute reunion be about seeing something they’ll both enjoy? Maybe it’s just the Ace in me but not everything love related has to end all be all with that. The 1st story is so cute 🥺 I've had a penpal for about 2,5 years at this point and I've visited her twice when I've spent 2 semesters in her country as an exchange student. It seemed like we wouldn't see each other very soon, when we parted ways she even said that it seemed like a once in a lifetime opportunity... About half a year after I got back, she started sending me random messages like "I miss you ❤" throughout the day, and we started chatting every day (until then, we mostly talked through letters, still do it to this day). It would have probably been very obvious to every outsider that we missed each other *a lot*... well, I'm very oblivious. But I've convinced myself to ask her if she's flirting with me. Well, our conversations just became increasingly romantic and s€xual in the following months. Anywayyy... all that led to me planning a holiday at her place, I just have to wait until summer break to see my angel again and I can't wait for that ❤ It can definitely feel surreal!

I work for a small town newspaper and I'm currently working on a story similar to the first one here.
It started 90 years ago when Lorraine and her family moved in next door to Edgar and his family when both were about 1 year old. They grew up together, played together, walked to school together, and were basically best friends. Then, when Lorraine was 9, she and her family were in a car accident. Her parents were killed and Lorraine and her older sister went to live with an aunt in another state with basically no warning. Fast forward to 2021 and Lorraine and her daughter come visit the town where she grew up for her mom's birthday, and while talking with a local historian, mention her "boyfriend" Edgar (she used air quotes when she said it). And it turned out that Edgar was still alive and well and living on his farm just outside of town. One phone call later, and Lorraine and Edgar were reunited after 80 years! They're staying in touch by email, and Lorraine and her daughter have made trips to see Edgar for Lorraine's birthday for the past two years.
Oh. My. Cats. That is so. ridiculously. *_wholesome._* I hope OP and Daria have long, happy lives together, they both deserve it.

I was a rainbow baby. I didn't even know the term existed until I was in my twenties. And I never used it for bragging rights. Why would someone want to use the fact that their mother lost a few pregnancies before she had them? Did the sister ever consider how painful that would be for her mother? Then again, considering the kind of person she is, I doubt she's capable of that.
I would pay good money to see that first story get made into a movie, it was so sweet and wholesome

Story 2: Look, I'm pro-life myself. I agree that every child shouldn't be denied their life. However, she's using it in a narcissistic way to make it all about HER. From what we've seen before, I would've thought that a lot of her pride in being a rainbow baby comes from her parents. People who act like this is usually because their parents spoiled them because they went through all the trouble to have that child. The fact that OP's mom gave her sister the facts and told her that her personality that makes her special isn't the fact that she is a rainbow baby was surprising to me. A nice surprise, but it makes me wonder more about where it comes from.
My theory is that she loved the attention of being pregnant but when the attention wasn't on her anymore, she had to find another reason why she'd be considered "special" and have that attention again. I don't even know if she chose the right-wing views because she truly believes them or because it makes her stand out in her family. If I'd have to guess, it's probably the second one. The fact that she has to bring the rainbow baby thing up every time she brings up a topic, she's just picking topics that she thinks supports her and not her underlying morals of life. Lady, stop making the movement about you instead of the innocent lives with no voice.

In the last story, you have to love that OP’s sister is capitalizing on her parents trauma! Not to mention, OP‘s trauma! They are the ones who lost a baby. They are the ones who had to go through that heartbreak every time. OP, having been told that he/she was a big brother/sister, and then having them explain that no, there is no baby. Absolutely pissed me off and I’m so glad that the mom didn’t back down.

I will never get over the rainbow baby stories. I’m technically a rainbow baby (though I didn’t know that was a term until listening to rslash stories) and it boggles my mind how people can act so entitled about it. Like, my parents care obviously since they wanted to have a kid, and it matters some to me because it showed me that my parents truly wanted me in their lives. But I don’t think I’ve ever brought it up in conversation? With the exception of if people asked if I or my parents wanted siblings or something.
