i have been into audio for 15 years, consuming anything and everything on the internet to learn, as well as (of course) buying all sorts of audio gear. Never have I ever come across someone who reviews audio gear who is straight to the point, wastes no one's time like this reviewer. Just learned about this channel today, will be pinge watching to no end. THANK YOU
Wow, both sound like they would fit my library. Davinci for thumpy songs, action movies and single player games. Mega5 for instrumental OST, vocals and fps games. Thanks for the review Freshy. (rummages through couch cushions for loose change)...WOOF! 🐶
I was waiting for the Davinci review. Had a feeling the bass wasnt going make it a great comp set, but im glad that youre recommending it for immersion gaming.
Holy... two heavy hitters in one video? IEM market is kinda crazy this year. Also, great review! Very easy to follow along when describing the tuning. The issues on the Da Vinci with shooting and hearing movement in COD seems to correlate with some other reviewers' slight issue with the prominent mid bass obscuring the mids.
Oh please. I suddenly have this itch for a wireless planar that’s supposed to be good for music and conference! Looking forward to your Maxwell review!
Hey Fresh, thanks for the review. As I am interested in the davinci, would you mind testing it with the tape mod reducing the bass to see if this fixes the concern you expressed about the bass being to dominant and occluding apex ?
I have a LOT of IEMS. I have both, the Davinci and the Mega5-EST. The Mega5-EST has rocketed it's way to the very top of my favorites list. It is competing with IEMs WAY out of it's price bracket. It has blown me away. Speaking from a music standpoint, not gaming. The Davinci is a bass cannon and has bass bleed into the mids.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on portable dac / amps for gaming. I have Moondrop Click, and Dawn Pro but both of them do not support in-line mic on the 3.5mm jack (Dawn Pro has super clean audio but you may test for gaming). My requirements are good holographic sound and in-line mic support since I play on a laptop with limited USB slots. My iems are 7Hz Sonus, and Zero 2.
I have the DaVinci and its become my daily driver but I don't play competitive games. For the RPGs and story led games I mostly play, its great. The key here though, is that the Mega5est is nearly twice the price of the DaVinci and getting into the realm of the higher end IEMs. I'd probably take the Softears Studio 4 over the Mega5est. Oh and all the sales are on, so you can pick it up at a more reasonable amount (I have the Aful Performer 8, so not really looking at that tuning/price).
Hey fresh i hope you doing good, i was thinking how about we branch out a bit from this IEM quest because realistically it will never end considering how many IEM getting released on daily basis. how about a new quest of finding the best headsets for example ? from the known brands like logitech - astro - steelseries ..etc or even unknown ones and maybe focus more on the sub $100. idk just suggesting stuff. ❤❤
Keep hunting for the best gaming IEMs. I want something as impressive or better than the Orchestra Lites but made to be more comfortable. My short review of the Antlion Kimura Duos is that while good enough for every day gaming, they do seem to get overwhelmed when a lot of sounds are happening around the listener....in my case while playing Escape from Tarkov. And I do notice a certain hollow kind of sound which a reviewer on another channel suggests might be the "timbre". But I'm not an expert. You may know more.
Hi Fresh, what would you recommend an upgrade from Kiwi Ears Orchestra Lite, I prefer a bit more bass for music but keep all the cleanliness in competitive gaming
Have you heard of the new Juzear 61T Butterfly? It appears to have very good Soundstage with great height separation from the reviews. I just ordered it since it appears to punch well above its weight class and looks astonishing
Just tested it in Apex and IMO it’s at least on par with the SM4. You can pinpoint exact enemy location with it. And it’s the best sounding IEM I have heard thus far!
Hey, so I just got the iFi Zen DAC V2 and a pair of DT 900 Pro X’s, predominantly for competitive gaming and am wondering if I should run the Zen at Fixed or Variable, and what “color” setting? I think it’s the Green MQA setting but figured I would ask you! Thanks in advance, your videos have helped me a lot in upgrading my audio experience.
Im a fan of your channel because of your gaming perspective on iem, have you considered the FatFreq iems? Im very interested on you take on the FatFreq MAESTRO MINI and the MAESTRO SE maybe. Great video btw
I love FatFreq, and own three of their sets. The Grand Maestro is my personal endgame set, waited five months for a Scarlett Mini, and still think the Maestro Minis are one of the best deals in the hobby if you’re looking for a basshead set. Unfortunately, besides the Grand Maestro, which can be tuned for better staging and has near perfect imaging, the rest of FatFreq’s sets don’t really work well for gaming without heavy EQ. Bass can often be the enemy of good soundstage, making the overall tuning much more intimate and more “in your head.” Again, love their sets, but I think if you’re looking for a “bass heavy” set for gaming your ceiling is going to be sets using this current “meta” tuning.
having a Mega5EST for a gaming IEM.. not quite using an Sennheiser HD 800S, but damn $550.00 is a spendy audio option for PC gaming! I would more likely get the Ziigaat Arete

@@Doggie64 main use will be gaming and music as for the games I play are "valorant, cod, r6, and elden ring". The music I listen too is all over honestly. as for price range anywhere from $50-$350 is where I'm comfortable spending on a iem rn as I'm new to the hobby. I know for a fact the "GL-AMT16" will be a good fit but the price is just insane but I currently use the "Truthear x Crin Zero OG" I get a good seal for a lil but doesn't last like I said. i haven't tried different tips but might have to buy the "spinfit W1". Thank you for the reply BTW!!
Try the splendor ii
Hello fresh, I am new to your channel and have been enjoying your videos a lot, they’re so informative and I have learned a lot. I recently got a viper v3 pro and it’s honestly replaced my super light, I’m loving it. Now I want to up my sound game. I’m coming from a PC38X, and my budget isn’t that large so I’ve been in between the DT 900 Pro X and the supermix 4s. Are IEMs actually good for competitive gaming? Any not very expensive mic recommendations (since iems and non headsets don’t come with one). I am also thinking about the Splendor 2 and your Aretes, but they might be too expensive for me + a mic. Any knowledge you can share with me?
I like the splendor and Arete much more than the supermix. But the supermix is good. The 900 beats the supermix. The supermix gets close though it does perform well. For mics the elgato wave 3 is pretty solid for a desk option
@@FreshReviewsYT Alright then. I will look into either of those. What’s your take on the IEM vs Headphones for gaming? Also, have you seen those attachable boom mics for IEMs?
I think Timmy made mistake with the bass in Da Vinci
It’s cool though for music and entertainment.
@@FreshReviewsYT I haven't tried them but generally my experience is that too much bass affects technicallties and the perception of the instrumentation and I love to hear every single instrument especially in busy tracks I think it's very interesting.A bassy iem for EDM For me is a secondary nota primary one
I use my pilgrims for valorant and cggo
can u plz review and compare some of the best 20 dollar iems for competitive gaming(i personally play valorant most of the time)
edit-like my comment plz so that fresh review can see my comment :)
Arete for the win
We need 500 dollar IEM's to play videogames nowadays
@@MdeBoer1do you?
@@FreshReviewsYT I want everything of everything the latest and greatest so whenever a new phone, monitor, mouse, or IEM comes out I run to the store to buy it. It's like a permanent subscription living rentfree in my head draining my money.
👍
i just got fiio fa19 cuz of u wish me luck
Good luck!
Really…more iems?
Apex sound is unbalance. Doesn't matter how expensive your headphones.
That’s entirely incorrect. But ok.
:)
Interested in what you think of the Maxwell that I heard you mention at the end of the video as I'm wearing mine right now and think they're pretty good but not as good as my iems for gaming imo but the convenience of wireless and insane battery life makes up for that as I mostly play single player/pve games these days anyway.
