Console gamer here 👋 recently got into iems because I got tired of the headset dent and earcups making my ears feel suffocated. So far I got the crin zero blues and simgot ew200’s and I gotta say plugged straight into the controller the ew200’s performance is mind blowing for the price. The crin zero blues also sound good but the ew200’s are overall louder and imo detail retrieval is clearer for me in warzone. That might change once I get a dac amp but it’s definitely something to note for those interested in iems for console. Im just surprised the controller drives the ew200 at 16 ohms with ease and struggles with the truthear crin zero blues at 10 ohm impedance. That being said I got some simgot ea500lm’s on the way can’t wait.

as i mentioned in HBB's comments , i'm happy you got a collab ! ... some people are tired of collabs , but i think collabs are great ... because if you have a tuning preference that matches who you follow the most ( HBB and Fresh for me ) since i game and have similar music libraries , it's usually easier for me to pull the trigger and lose a chunk of my wallet 😅😅 .... these are beautiful man .... i hope to see you get a chance at a budget set as well , that would be 🔥 .
After a few days with the Arete I can say these are the perfect gaming IEMs, footsteps are louder, gunshots and explosions aren’t too overpowering, bass is perfect, I mainly used them in Apex Legends and they are beautiful for footsteps my friend called me a cheater because I was pre firing corners and calling out 3rd parties from a distance 🙌🏽 Match these with the Spinfit OMNI ear tips and they will sit perfect in with good and seal and even slight sound improvement.

Comparing them to the 490 is very difficult. The 490 is a very good headphone particularly when paired with the right source. I do think the 490 wins over the canon and Arete, but the IEMs aren’t far behind for a competitive experience.
coming from what i assume is a v shape tuned iem, the starfield, the graphs look very odd to me, do these just plainly sound more neutral/natural and maybe a bit boring like sennheiser headphones? and if i dont like how they sound i can just eq them to be more v shaped? probably losing some of the imaging performance, or do i just save a little more and get the dusk that should match my style more but be worse for gaming i will always be confused looking at iem frequency response graphs because they are so wild and the construction/drivers play a major part, like the dunu davinci vs crinacle dusk, looking at the graphs i wouldnt think the bass is THAT different but watching reviews people say the davinci can be considered a bass head iem where the dusk lacks bass
Unfortunately graphs don’t tell the whole picture. The Arete is a neutral IEM with punchy bass. It is not boring like a sennheiser headphone though, like the hd560. Probably the beauty about IEMs.

I think they’re great because they have a very good natural tuning. Sound tracks with jrpg type music or orchestral things should sound great. Bass is also punchy to have that hint of excitement without overdoing anything
Just starting to dable with IEMs and have a two questions. One: Do you need to EQ this IEM at all or is setting the EQ to “Flat”will be good enough? Two: Do you have a Squiglink if these IEMs do need to be EQd? Great video all in all!

it depends what you want, but i would look for at least 6N OFC for the cables, tripowin and kinera make decent ones for not too much, the new kinera gramr pro came out recently too and its seems like its gonna be a endgame mic for something thats actually apart of the iem

Plus it had an included mic. And while I can say it does do a decent job, I'm noticing some sound cues that are a bit strange and feels off. Someone said it might be the "timbre" but I don't know enough about audio to say for sure. Note that I am using Spinfit W1 eartips. I was initially targeting the Orchestra Lites but was put off by the numerous comments about it's lack of comfort. Unfortunately, the only way to know the differences between IEMs for sure is to test them so I may be getting more IEMs as soon as I can afford them. You say the Arete's are much better. But would you say the Arete's are worth buying now if I wanted a dramatic increase in audio quality over the Kimura Duo?
Sure. The Arete is a more reference tuning that feels clear. The splendor is more bass emphasized and warmer. Two different tuning preferences that both happen to kick ass in game
I notice that most of your recommendations aren't marketing 7.1 surround sound, maybe I'm missing the feature in the product details. I've always thought having that feature would be a must have but from your reviews it doesn't seem like something you actually use. Is that correct, we don't really need the surround sound headphones?
It’s hard to say because all on board audio is different I don’t like mine. I prefer an amp dac. A topping dx1 or topping dx3 should be ok. There are a ton of other options as well that people like
Appreciate it! Fun idea for a video that I think people would enjoy. Video and audio settings. In Apex I was struggling so bad and was about to quit the game permanently because I couldn’t see enemies at all. Literally they could be right in front of me and I would have no idea. Changed up some settings and finally could see people. Then with audio I had no idea if I was supposed to use Spatial Audio or not. Also Stereo Vs 7.1. As well as eartips such as foam, wide/narrow bore. Once I figured out which ones to pick I instantly got better. Went from struggling to get out of Silver to breezing into PLAT in Apex. Again appreciate everything you do! Will definitely pick up the Arete next time they go on sale!

Initially, from what you saying that maybe something what i need. To much bass in COD can be sometimes very overwhelming. 3 weeks and will be ready for testing. I di have one question if you dont mind, if this is not a "secret". How do you deal with gun shooting sound in COD? My sounblaster g6 clearly is not designed for IEMs, gun shoots are 10 times louder than rest of the game. I knoe there is a soundlock for that but it is not work well for my hearing, its also loudnes equalisation but sounds like trash. Im thinking about topping dx3 pro but dont wanna,waiste money if i will not have solution for tune down overwhelming loudnes when im shooting. Missing the days playing Quake 3 arena, Counter Strike, half Life and Soldier if Fortune. 😅😅😅

It’s hard to say because all on board audio is different I don’t like mine. I prefer an amp dac. A topping dx1 or topping dx3 should be ok. There are a ton of other options as well that people like

Fun idea for a video that I think people would enjoy. Video and audio settings.
In Apex I was struggling so bad and was about to quit the game permanently because I couldn’t see enemies at all. Literally they could be right in front of me and I would have no idea. Changed up some settings and finally could see people. Then with audio I had no idea if I was supposed to use Spatial Audio or not. Also Stereo Vs 7.1. As well as eartips such as foam, wide/narrow bore. Once I figured out which ones to pick I instantly got better. Went from struggling to get out of Silver to breezing into PLAT in Apex.
Again appreciate everything you do! Will definitely pick up the Arete next time they go on sale!

I got the Hype 4s because of yoy. I love them for PUBG only game I play. But do these have bass like the Hype 4s? I only care about gaming don’t care for music

How do you deal with gun shooting sound in COD?
My sounblaster g6 clearly is not designed for IEMs, gun shoots are 10 times louder than rest of the game. I knoe there is a soundlock for that but it is not work well for my hearing, its also loudnes equalisation but sounds like trash.
Im thinking about topping dx3 pro but dont wanna,waiste money if i will not have solution for tune down overwhelming loudnes when im shooting.
Missing the days playing Quake 3 arena, Counter Strike, half Life and Soldier if Fortune. 😅😅😅

Yeah. Im that old...playing competitively Star Craft 2, Red Alert 2, Tekken Tag tournament 2, quake 3 arena, unreal tournament, Diablo 2 LOD, SOF 1 and 2 and counter strike.

When I first got into audiophile gear I got rid of my soundblaster. It didn’t sound good with anything I had. Schiit stack is a good starting point.
Dac will be focused on IEMs exclusively.
So need something with low output.
Topping DX3 pro plus+ has a much more functions than i need.
