Because I focused on the events of the Age of Resistance - Kylo Ren comic in its own standalone video a few weeks back centered around the Kylo-Vader dynamic (which you can find here: th-cam.com/video/hLTjeOc-mM0/w-d-xo.html), I focused a lot more on the review side of things for this issue here. I also added timestamps above for the point in which the review portion begins if you’d like to see my own thoughts. yeah I was about to say, wasn't this already uploaded, lol. it was interesting that what I thought was the most destructive force against the first order's assets, actually did accomplish something for his side (/sarcasm). If there was anyone close to Kylo in reality, with maybe the exception of hurling binoculars overboard whenever anyone stepped out of line (oh, that was another fleet admiral), I could almost say maybe Takeo Kurita during the battle of Semar. Yamato alone weighs more than all of Taffy's 3 ships combined. yet from the instant, USS Johnston started charging his fleet, he through lack of info, guessing wrong, using the wrong ammo, and hesitations and self-doubt, let Taffy 3 survive to fight another day in retreat. I guess Kylo at least let a small set of survivers escape to spread fear of the first order to others while wiping out there war assets. so not a complete loss for Kylo. If only Lutenet Floor Mop could get his fighter squadrons out of a wet paper bag to be a defense screen for the capital ships, lol. I'll stop rambling, great vid Glenn and crew. B)
Thank you very much for your awesome comment here Zar! I think Kylo being such an asset for the First Order in this instance was why I enjoyed it so much too. Earning the respect of the other members of the First Order was great, and was a nice connection with how Vader was so beloved by the Imperial stormtroopers who benefited from Vader's efforts on the battlefield (and of course who weren't Force choked along the way as well!). if not for grand admiral Glenn of the Chiss Ascendancy, for characters that do something positive for there side (screen-cap of Konstantine gulping in fear at a holo transmission of Thrawn). B)
I will admit: I thought it was pretty cool when Kylo shoved his lightsaber through the Manathi King's Skull and the way he killed the Zillo Beast from the inside.
Let's all not forget that the first time Anakin fought a Zilo Beast he literally had no idea how to beat it. And yet here Ben was able to think of a way to kill one literally on the fly. That there shows some serious enginuity.
My issue is with the movies. They show the first order having the same exact problems as the original empire. The contingency was a complete failure. The storm troopers still cannot shoot. The Tie Fighter explodes if a fly hits the canopy. They design an even better Death Star but again with a vulnerability. Large Resurgent Star Destroyers escorting a dreadnaught watch a single X-Wing disable the dreadnaught and do nothing. They watch. Again the first order deserves what it gets.
Emperor fights kylo ren and rey. emperor kills kylo. kylo comes back as a force ghost and gives rey energy. Rey kills emperor. Rey renames herself Rey Skywalker. The End. ---- Save your money------ and there you haaaave iiitt!! --- if not for me, for disney force choking Star Wars Legends and Cannon.
Okay, first off: the Stormtroopers have great aim in literally *all* of the movies they're in. And when they miss, it's because they don't actually want to "win". In A New Hope, they let everyone make it back to the Falcon so that they could track them back to Yavin - because Vader and Tarkin wanted to just take them all out at once with the Death Star; while the rest of the movie almost beats us over the head with other Stormtrooper victims (dead Rebels in the opening scene, dead Jawas, dead Luke's relatives.) In Empire Strikes Back, they use Leia as bait to lure Luke to the Carbon Freezing Chamber so that Vader could turn him into a human icicle and gift-wrap him for the Emperor. In Return of the Jedi, the Stormtroopers are ambushed by an enemy that blends into the jungle, is harder to hit due to their small size, uses Viet Cong tactics, and turns their own walkers against them *with* Rebel help. And in the Force Awakens, they slaughter the village without missing any shots, they shoot at Poe's X-Wing and damage it to the point so that he can't escape in it - leading to his capture and interrogation, and for the rest of the movie, they're mostly shooting background characters, and doing a good job of it too. Secondly, a lot of fighters go down in just one hit in these movies. Not just TIE Fighters. But also X-Wings, Y-Wings, and A-Wings. Third, the Death Star II isn't finished. Just look at it. There are entire sections still under construction. If the shield generator wasn't blown up, none of the Rebel fighters would have even been able to get close to the Death Star without crashing into the shield. And the only reason the shield did go down was because the Empire didn't expect a Rebel-Ewok alliance and subsequent Ewok surprise attack. Also, what part of the Contingency exactly was a failure? As far as I can see, it's inspired by Hitler's "Nero Decree", the purpose of which was to destroy all infrastructure, and deny the enemy resources, manpower, etc; while the Empire could start over in the Unknown Regions (again, like the Nazis apparently intended to do in South America), eventually becoming the First Order. And personally, I think Palpatine's main goal was to ensure that he was revived after his death - which also appears to have been a success. Or at least partially.

The movies, being written by idiots, focus on Kylo's weaknesses exclusively, all the while conversely obsessing over how magically perfect Rey is. Are you seeing a pattern, here? Once again, it's left to the comics to salvage the mess left by movies.
That’s why I like the novelizations better than the movies they explain much more about the characters in the movies ever could and novelizations ray isn’t portrayed as a Mary Sue she’s portrayed as a flawed and imperfect character
I mean I love star wars but I would love more Star Wars "Wars" but not focused on just one person. I know we're kinda passed the Galactic Civil War era and we're in the Age of Resistance Era I still would want to see battles from the the outter rim siege.
True, he did kill it. But the Zillo Beast's shell couldn't be cut by a lightsaber. The Ender Beast could. Also, I believe the Ender Beast is smaller and less flexible, though it does look like it can swing a better punch. But then again, we never saw the Ender Beast on-screen. So it is a bit hard to compare when it comes to speed, strength, etc.
If we actually got this as some backstory to Kylo it would have made the movies A LOT better. There's so little actual story in the movies. They lump it all into comics and extra media.

Kylo Ren was not only debilitatingly injured, but he was weakened in the Force due to killing his own father. It is as Snoke said, "The deed split your spirit to the bone. You were unbalanced, bested by a girl who never held a lightsaber." If it wasn't for those two factors, Kylo Ren's duel with Rey would have been one-sided in his favor.

He wasn't trying to kill her tho which is a shame that the director didn't make that more clear. If he had a lot of the issues people have with Kylo wouldn't be there. He wanted her to be his apprentice he clearly has another agenda from Snoke
Kylos journey has been great, more from these comics and books are very welcome, can't wait to see how it all turns out in the rise of Skywalker, and more information about his knights is something I'm very interested in seeing in future comics

you know, I'd really like to see a star wars story where the rebels/resistance/whatever goes in opposition to the ordinances and law of the Jedi which brings them into conflict with their Jedi brethren. Think how that one guy from Rogue One shot his informant in the alleyway towards the beginning of the movie and how a Jedi friend of that guy would react to that action, recognizing that the Rebellion or whatever is becoming what it is fighting against in the first place.
If Lucasfilm took any time to develop the world that the sequel trilogy was in it would give some gravity to Kylo Ren and his position in the First Order. Sadly though they are gonna have to flesh it out with comics due to the scope of the First Order being completely undefined in the recent movies.
It was a good and enjoyable issue, yes. At the same time though, I just can't shake the impression that Kylo is pretending to be bigger and better than he is. I know this is just me comparing him to Vader, but none of this really hits me so far

it's crazy to think that the entire galaxy knew at that point that the hero of the clone wars was the same person as the enforcer of the empire, and that they also knew that the story of Anakin dying in the jedi temple while protecting the younglings was all bullshit
Having given up on Star Wars (Thank you, Disney and Kennedy...), I have not read any of the new comics or novels that have come out in the past couple of years. But after watching this video, it made me realize AGAIN just how bad the new movies are. Love your videos, hate those movies.
theres a lesson to be learned here: dont taunt Kylo Ren by comparing him in a lesser degree to Vader, sure its true (most probably) but its a sure fire way to end up getting killed by Kylo.

Great video as always. You summed it up pretty well. But I'm still not impressed with any of the sequel series characters. Was going to pick "dislike" for the video but that wouldn't be fair to you. You did great. I didn't like the comic/series is all. Take care.
I feel like the fact that kylo is the grand son of vader and want so bad to be like him. Restrain him and make him look bad, Itns something you can see in alot of manga too when characters rely soo much on other more important character. It just feel like kylo is nothing on hs own.
@@brianbanatte9552 From what I saw his Arc seems like a roller coaster. Sw7 full Darth Vader fan boy mod, Sw8 lookin good he destroyed his mask and kill his master. Sw9 he put his mask back on and I heard the reason why the mask is diffrent from the one in Sw7 is because he merged his old model with what remained of vader mask. Soo yeah idk about kylo Ren arc, (or maybe it's B.S and these red straps on his mask is to symbolize his evolution to the top of the first order, but again why are we seeing him without it in the trailer if this new mask has such weight behind it's creation?)
Somewhere beyond the realm of the living, the Jedi of the Clone Wars realised the Zillo Beast crisis on Malastare could’ve been solved a lot quicker, sparing Coruscant god knows how much in property damage

The harder they try to make Kylo look cool and badass like Vader the more he just looks like a try hard. Poor Kylo, just can't win. Is it just me or does this story just kind of come off as unbelievable? I mean, as believable as a guy with a laser sword fighting a giant tentacle monster can be.. I could see Vader killing something like that, but not Kylo. I dunno.
I'm kind of sick about hearing about how weak, and ineffectual Kylo Ren is. He is basically Anakin (a talented, but arrogant - especially after he got to the temple, brat!). The only difference is training. Anakin's was superior. And look where that got him! Kylo is actually doing much better. At least he's not in a fucking iron lung.
Kylo Ren is a ridiculous character who never existed before fucking Disney destroyed Star Wars. Adam Driver belongs in some Harry Potter/lord of the rings type fantasy movie. His character sucked. And so does he, in my opinion. There need to be some severe punishment for Disney for this crap.

Killing the Zilo from the inside really doesn't make much sense, because the skin would have the same thickness both ways?

Having given up on Star Wars (Thank you, Disney and Kennedy...), I have not read any of the new comics or novels that have come out in the past couple of years. But after watching this video, it made me realize AGAIN just how bad the new movies are. Love your videos, hate those movies.
theres a lesson to be learned here: dont taunt Kylo Ren by comparing him in a lesser degree to Vader, sure its true (most probably) but its a sure fire way to end up getting killed by Kylo.

I feel like the fact that kylo is the grand son of vader and want so bad to be like him. Restrain him and make him look bad, Itns something you can see in alot of manga too when characters rely soo much on other more important character. It just feel like kylo is nothing on hs own.
That's what makes him the best sequel character. That's his Arc. He needs to grow beyond Vader and be his own man.
@@brianbanatte9552 From what I saw his Arc seems like a roller coaster. Sw7 full Darth Vader fan boy mod, Sw8 lookin good he destroyed his mask and kill his master. Sw9 he put his mask back on and I heard the reason why the mask is diffrent from the one in Sw7 is because he merged his old model with what remained of vader mask. Soo yeah idk about kylo Ren arc, (or maybe it's B.S and these red straps on his mask is to symbolize his evolution to the top of the first order, but again why are we seeing him without it in the trailer if this new mask has such weight behind it's creation?)

The harder they try to make Kylo look cool and badass like Vader the more he just looks like a try hard. Poor Kylo, just can't win.
Is it just me or does this story just kind of come off as unbelievable? I mean, as believable as a guy with a laser sword fighting a giant tentacle monster can be.. I could see Vader killing something like that, but not Kylo. I dunno.
I'm kind of sick about hearing about how weak, and ineffectual Kylo Ren is. He is basically Anakin (a talented, but arrogant - especially after he got to the temple, brat!). The only difference is training. Anakin's was superior. And look where that got him! Kylo is actually doing much better. At least he's not in a fucking iron lung.

An average story to me... some comics will always be just that, comics...
Kylo Ren is a ridiculous character who never existed before fucking Disney destroyed Star Wars. Adam Driver belongs in some Harry Potter/lord of the rings type fantasy movie. His character sucked. And so does he, in my opinion. There need to be some severe punishment for Disney for this crap.
