I needed this. I recently found out I had scoliosis by accident 🤣 I went to the chiropractor for hip pain/low back pain and they did an xray and discovered it was from scoliosis. I've been getting really frustrated because I'm in pain often because I'm trying to run fast paces like the other people in my run club and feeling terrible. I just have to accept that I have to back off a little and take care of my body and just enjoy the movement in itself and not obsess over numbers and speeds.
Hi! Thanks for watching :) Every case of scoliosis is different and I'd always say to check with your Dr first. I know lots of people with scoliosis who enjoy running. As long as it doesn't cause pain then I'd see no harm, if it keeps you fit and happy!
@@LifeWithScoliosis I was there in my Dr many times and I made a photo for my back but he didnt show me that He took the cd He tells me you dont have scoliosis but I know I have wgat should I do ???
It doesn't increase the curvature of your spine, but you need an assessment of how your other joints are aligned/affected. You may need orthotic insoles or a pair of those stabilizing flexible bandage things if your feet or knees are in need of extra support. Sometimes it's hard to figure out if any pain is a normal early side effect, or whether it's a signal that you should stop. Moderation and keeping an eye on how your body feels is important. It's impossible get a general answer that will be appropriate for everyone with scoliosis. Everyone's curves are different, and so is their predisposition/resilience.
My first time running was training for a 10k race yeah, that was about 5 years post op though. I had to build up to it!! Looking back it was a bit stupid to do what I did and train for just 5 weeks for a 10k when I hadn't ran before, but I have learnt a lot since then ha!
Hi Bruce, sorry to hear this. I do get pain most days but some days it is worse than others. I think every case is different though, and whether you get pain or not from scoliosis depends on many factors.
These tips are very helpful, thank you! The last one is so key i think💜

@@Brucelee-pv6uf Hi - it sounds like you need to go back to your Dr for another opinion, if you can. All the best x
