Hi Dave, I'm unfamiliar with the KTM's cam issues I was mainly appreciating the bike being ridden by Chris Birch who loves the bike. Another comment has popped up below, not knowing how to reply, so I just did a search online, here's what auto-pilot said : ''Yes, there have been reports of early cam wear on the KTM LC8c engine, which is used in the parallel twin 790 and 890cc models. This issue seems to be more common in the adventure (ADV) bikes using this engine rather than the Duke models. The ADV bikes are tuned for more low-end torque, while the Duke models prioritize top-end performance and use different cam profiles. Proper break-in procedures and using a robust oil are essential for maintaining cam longevity. Some riders recommend using higher zinc oils or additives, and frequent oil changes to protect the cams. Keep an eye on your bike’s maintenance and follow the manufacturer’s recommendations to ensure optimal durability''. I ride a BMW GS1250 which certain models are having their cam-shafts replaced due to wear, BMW are replacing the part at a certain mileage within warranty & I think bikes out of warranty on bikes effected, for me that's good customer care.
