I will look into the egr valve and evaporate solenoids thanks for the tip. Yeah this is my second metro and I know they are very reliable and easy to keep going and very economical so it’s perfect for me. 😀
Yeah it’s not easy to find a manual transmission anymore, I favor simplicity and reliability over anything else, my belief is that the new cars have become less reliable because they are too complex and too expensive to fix. 😀
Actually GM designed the 95-01 Metro and Swift for the north American markets using Suzuki components. This Swift version was never sold anywhere besides North America. I think GM sold the tooling to a Chinese company
@@gregg9672 I just got home from a trip to Vietnam and seen a new Suzuki swift so they are still being manufactured somewhere, I don’t believe that Vietnam imports cars from China, lots of Japanese cars though.

Very nice car! Just for curiosity... Did you get the sedan version 89-94 of these geo in the US? ( I guess they were sold as suzuki). I'm not sure if you only got the hatch versions.
My parents bought a brand new 1990 4 door hatchback, my dad built a plywood car top lockable luggage carrier and he strapped it to the top and took us on multi state road trips, that was an awesome car and I have always loved the metro ever since. 😀
3 cylinder, 5 speed and yes I believe some lawnmowers have as much power. I believe we are talking around 55 HP, most of these cars have been abused hard so yes they are hard to find in usable condition. 😀

Yes the 993cc 1.0 L3 puts out 55HP and 54 torque. And the max fuel capacity of 10.6 gallons. I got a 1998 chevrolet metro 2 door 1.0 L3 5 speed. Red. These metros are hard to destroy if you take care of them! 🙂
Oh man I haven't thought about a geo metro in a long time in the early 2000s it was the ultimate joke car but if your looking for a car that you can fill the tank up and drive for a year you got it
Might be the different transmissions causing check engine light. Definitely take it to a mechanic to have them check it. Sounds like its reving to high. Yes rich. Should get over 50 mpg as its the 3cyl. What oil are you using? Try Royal Purple 5w30.
first you say most of us probably do not know what wind up windows are but than on the radio you do not know that, that hole is for casettes (idk how to spell the last word)

oh my! i never thought a geo metro could ever last to 230k. that alone is very impressive. a disposable car if there ever was one. best of luck
Yeah I’m sure many people used them as disposable cars but not me, I’m going to keep it for a long time, repair as needed and keep it going.
Good little cars. I wish they’d make something similar today.
The Mitsubishi mirage is the closest thing you can get, it’s even a 3 cylinder I believe

Nice Geo Metro! I really like it! Congratulations!
I like older cars so I’m trying to keep this one for a long time.
Good luck with the new wheels. Check the air filter too. Sometimes a bad air filter can cause the engine to run rich. Good Luck!
Yeah for sure, thanks for the tip.😀
Not really. Check for a vacuum line leak under the air filter behind the carb.
