    I've read some comments saying that this is the slavic symbol Kolovrat/Kolovrot. It is not. When I started the research to do this video I was actually going to also talk about the Kolovrat/Kolovrot symbol in this video, because recently I've seen in several online groups and forums people comparing the Black Sun Symbol of the Nazis with the Kolovrat, but then I thought it would be extending too much something that should be common knowledge by now, but seeing some comments I see now that I should have talked about it and I regret not having done so. It's not the Kolovrat. The Kolovrat is similar to the Merovingian sun wheels in that both originated from solar symbolism (such as the swastika). But they are different. To say that the Nazis' Black Sun Symbol is a Kolovrat is extremely disrespectful and/or ignorant. The Kolovrat is very different and it has 8 "branches", it is as simple as that, literally people just have to know how to count if they don't want to delve deeper into the historical meaning of both the Black Sun Symbol and the Kolovrat.
    Edit: Since there's also been a lot of comments concerning the number 12 and people saying it means a lot of different things from other pagan (and non-pagan) cultures and, as some put it - "it is not associated with Christianity" - it's important that to say that (as obvious as it may seem) when we study a context we should understand its time period, ethics, morality, socio-political and religious context, ideologies and archaeological and literary/documented evidences, when the latter exists (which in the case of the Black Sun Symbol they do exist). With this being said : Yes, the number 12 appears in many cultures with many meanings, but just because the number 12 is evident in the Black Sun Symbol, it doesn't mean it has all the meanings of all the evidences for the same number in every other culture. The evidence of the number 12 in the Black Sun Symbol doesn't automatically convey the meaning people choose based on what they know of it from other cultures. It conveys the meaning that it has based on its context and ideologies and desires of the people who have created it. We must look at it in its context (and we know which context that is). Which, in this context here adressed, the number 12 in the Nazi occultism is drawn from Christian esotericism. Nazi occultism is heavily influenced by Christian esotericism and traditional religious morality, not pagan. Doesn't matter what the number 12 means in other cultures and time-periods for this case, because this case, and this case alone, is specifically based on Christian mystecism and esotericism.

      Yes, the Slavs did not have this symbol. But the funny thing is that the symbol that is called "Kolovrat" is also a non-historical fiction - it was invented by one neo-pagan, tying its meaning to the change of seasons. Of course, the Slavs had similar swastikas in all varieties, but a symbol with such a name is a late invention. The fact is that there were many pseudo-pagan movements and groups that came up with many unhistorical fantasies - in some ways they resemble the German "Völkisch". This happened in different years and in different countries.

    The entire lecture falls apart immediately when he starts the 12 point sun wheel was created by nazis. Himmler bought a castle with this symbol in a giant hall in tile on the floor. He wanted this place to be the center of nazi occult power in the world. But that symbol was already in that castle a long time before himmler bought it. So the nazis didn't create the 12 point version. This has been stated by the aclu themselves. Also calling something nazi occultism is foolish and incorrect. There is no such thing as they didnt create their own occult ways, they rediscovered already existing occultism snuffed out by abrahamic religions in their area. I was hoping to learn something more about the black sun, but instead found incorrect info based on sources of opinion. How do I know this. The aclu has every reason to accredit theis symbol specifically with nazis but even they state on their website that it is in fact an ancient symbol only associated with nazis simply because of himmlers purchase of the castle where the 12 point symbol was 1st found but also clearly stated that it was not placed there by himmler and the nazis, but existed when the castle was built. If the aclu doesn't even agree with this being created by nazis, then anyone who does is pushing an agenda based on nazi hatred. A hatred that 99.999999% of the world shares no doubt, but its simply not a nazi version of the sun wheel. Just made famous by them, same as the western world views the swastika. Not created by nazis either, just adopted by them.

    Just as an aside. Have you ever looked at the Sun in the morning?
    It takes a bit of time to see it yet the sun will start to flicker similarly to the symbols of the black sun. Then the Sun will turn black the pain of the light goes away for
    The period of time that you see the black sun. My grandfather used to say it’s where all knowledge comes from. He said it was where the light triggers knowledge, understanding and occulted wisdom.
    That’s not something I have yet experienced yet I’d like to. I meditate in my garden in the north of England when the sun shines which is not often with cloudseeding blocking the sky.

    People always talk that paganism disappeared and that current paganism is a reconstruction; no, not at all, paganism survived and, through art, we have convinced other people, a few (we don't need many) to love the old Indo-European gods. Odin, for example, is the German Woden, and the Celtic and Spanish Lugh, etc.

  • @voluptuosidadeslapalabra
    @voluptuosidadeslapalabra 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    But I think that Nazi mysticism is not completely faithful to the original pagan mysticism, but that it drinks from neo-Platonism and that it considers good and evil (against the pagan belief in order and chaos) and is dualistic, while paganism (I assume the pagan because that's how they know us, but we called ourselves something else) is ternary and does not consider matter to be bad, but rather that matter is connected to the spirit; well, there are different ways of seeing the cosmos.

    The use of the number 12 predates Christianity(12 apostles) and has been used throughout history before the Nazis. 12 zodiac signs, 12 labors of Hercules and 12 knights of the round table. Clearly there is a greater occult meaning for the number 12 than we may realize.

    • @ArithHärger
      @ArithHärger  2 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      The Knights of the round table isn't so easy to determine their origins in literature because much of what we known concerning Arthurian legend was started by Christian authors (Geoffrey of Monmouth) from the 12th century onwards, in fact, Arthurian legends were well mixed with Christian morals and religious ethics, by the 13th-15th centuries the Arthurian legends are a heavy portrayal of Christian beliefs and religious morality, especially added to the Holy Grail theme started by Chrétien de Troyes. I will show this in a future video. Concerning the other non-abrahamic situations where the number 12 appears I will ask you to look for my replies to the other comments. Thank you.

      @@ArithHärger Isn't there something about there being 12 aesir gods as well? Or even some people think Odin allegedly had 12 sons? Note: I'm not trying to prove you wrong. I think you are fully correct in this video, just putting in my two cents about further symbolism about the number 12. Although those are most likely neo-pagan or medieval romantic in origin, and are most likely not even accurate to Norse polytheism.

    • @ArithHärger
      @ArithHärger  2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@triumphant39 You are quite right, there is this idea of 12 Aesir gods, and it isn't an idea coming from Scandinavian heathen past but a medieval literary construction as well. Checking earlier mythological accounts, place-names, archeological evidences as well as local folklore that shows us concrete evidences of worship towards deities (or entities that were actually considered gods in the Scandinavian late Iron Age and early Medievalism) the Old Norse gods of such periods were no more than 7, three of which not considered Aesir and one neither Aesir nor Vanir (Odin, Thor, Njordr, Freyr, Freyja, Ullr). The later sources and skaldic poetry present the name of others deities, which we find no evidences of their cults or any religious approach towards them, most of them being poetic embellishments, others of local older worship, others (like Nerthus) from different parts of the Germanic cultural world outside Scandinavia that are often placed within the "Norse pantheon" in contemporary studies, and then there is Loki who was not a deity, not worshipped, but quite popular spirit of the hearth, weather and heat, remaining in folklore and traditional magic (at least in Denmark) until quite late into the Modern period, and presents characteristics of a cultural-hero, rather than considered a deity. The idea of 12 gods became quite famous in the Middle Ages to match Judeo-Christian biblical accounts, as the number 12 is quite important in such religious backgrounds, mainly the 12 disciples of Christ. Despite the seemingly isolation of Iceland, it was never truly isolated from mainland European cultural developments, and its politicians and scholars were very much aware of the religious and cultural developments in continental Europe, especially the Renaissance which gave origins later on to the very Icelandic Magic staves. There was this ongoing idea that the pagan gods were false, but they could not be totally wiped out for the sake of facilitating the religious transitions into Christianity, therefore many gods were included in new medieval writings but not as gods anymore. We have the case of Saxo Grammaticus who took away the divine elements of the gods and turned them into legendary heroes. Saxo Grammaticus was a contemporary of Snorri Sturluson, the Icelandic Christian who wrote the Prose Edda, which is the main source for evidences on Old Norse mythology. He also very much reinforced the idea of 12 gods, even though half of the gods he speaks of were not considered gods in heathen times and he dismisses other names, which, if considered gods, would be more than 20 deities. Snorri did not totally invent the content he wrote, as one of his main sources of inspiration was the Völuspá, which is a poem of the 10th century, written by an unknown author(s) and judging by the content it already shows heavy Christian influences, and whoever wrote the Völuspá was very much aware of biblical accounts, which demonstrates it was probably someone who administered a church, or a priest or a clergyman clerical worker. But the pagan content is also still there. But Snorri's idea of 12 gods comes from the Christian re-writings and interpretation of classical Greek myths, that were being produced in mainland Europe in the Middle Ages. We also start to see by this period the same idea of 12 gods but of the Olympus. What was going on around this period was also a development of occult teachings, showing the old gods as false gods, and turning them into 12 disciples of sorts of the one god, and placing these gods on a high place to convey the idea of a legendary spot that is sacred above all others. Which is why Olympus was thus re-interpreted as this place, with the 12 gods, and why Snorri turned Ásgardr into this idea of "heaven" and placing in it the 12 gods as well (in heathen times Ásgardr was not considered a heaven, but a place of a tiny group of deities, as there were other places of other deities and several otherwordly realms and places solely for the dead and places solely for other beings). This is also the reason for the 12 knights of the round table (the knights of the grail) in Arthurian legends (Arthurian legends despite having been inspired on pagan Welsh, Scottish and Irish myths and legends were actually first created in the 12th century by Geoffrey of monmouth, a tradition followed by other authors who further Christianized even more the Arthurian legends). The idea of 12 gods is a Christian medieval construction of the Renaissance period.

      @@ArithHärger Thank you for that surpsingly quick, and very thought out and informative response. I figured as much though (about its authenticity), as I can't personally name 12 aesir, and if other dieties were included it would certainly be more than 12. I guess the tendency for people to want to order and compartmentalize religious concepts is somewhat natural, likely the same people are the ones who think they had a unified religious belief, which we know for several different cultures was simply not the case, and isn't even the case for modern, extant religions, like Hinduism and Buddhism, etc.

      Indeed, it is. However, if you allow me to copy paste a previous reply I have made, perhaps it will make more sense in this context: "The number 12 appears in several contexts, and some people have pointed out that the number 12 is also connected to astrology, and we also find the number 12 in some pre-Christian contexts, although the number 7, 9, 13 and 27 are more common in pagan contexts than the 12. But that doesn't make it this symbol a pagan symbol. This is, as I said in the video, a symbol appropriated and modified by the nazis in the 1930s, and they were more familiar with the Christian esoteric and mythic mysticisms back then, that was their background at this period because of the European Romantic movements of the 19th century which gave rise to the European Occultism that followed, which greatly relied on Christian and other Abrahamic mysticism. The number 12 in this case isn't from pagan inspiration but from Christian religious background known and popular at this period. They did not care about the historical background of the number 12 the Christians have borrowed it from. What they cared about is what was Religiously and Culturally more in-line with their social-political poits of view at that period, to reinforce their politics and give it a religious/spiritual background (to justify their claims as just, right, sacred and pious) and that was the traditionalism of Christianity in the European context. The Christian values and traditionalism played an important role in the Nazi politics." Thank you, have a great day!

    You are wrong. The black sun symbol was invented by Guido von List who was not a Nazi. There is a deep esoteric meaning to the symbol. It is not the sun, but he principle that makes the sun shine. It is the platonic form of the good. I think Guido von List had a better knowledge of this than you my friend.

    While it is true there is no historical evidence of this being a Pagan symbol, I disagree with your conclusion that the 12 rays makes it a Christianized symbol.
    Himmler was extremely anti-Christian and he even attempted to instate neo-Pagan doctrine into the SS, with their insignia being formed from two Sowilo runes, and instating the celebration of the solstices.
    The significance of the number 12 in the SS and the North Tower of Wewelsburg Castle is thought to be drawn from "the twelve Æsir of divine kind who have (according to the Edda) twelve domiciles and twelve stallions" or in relation to the 12 SS officers with whom Himmler (being the 13th participant) would perform unknown rites and rituals in the castle.
    So while was most likely never used in ancient pagan religions, it was clearly made with Paganism in mind for Himmler's failed neo-Pagan religion.

    I - unfortunately - made the experience, that nowadays many people have problems with rational discussions. Doesn't matter which topic - if they made up their minds it's completely impossible, to get through to them with arguments - regardless how scientific proven they are. It's like some kind of dogmatic thinking in this sense. For me it's quite shocking ... I really like discussions and see them as a chance for development and growth. It's like they don't even listen anymore ... I see them as living in specific kinds of information-bubbles. All information inside those bubbles is valid - all information outside invalid. It's relatively easy to recognize these people through their wordings ... "snowflakes", "sheep" - whatever.
    Worst - the scientific process of gathering and validating information, developing theories and working on them is considered irrelevant and obsolete. And especially in the world of the internet are many people who think they are more competent because they watched a video about this topic. TH-cam-university is more worth, than years of studying a matter. This makes me really sad and frustrated.
    edit: I myself was in such a bubble ... a whole year. It was am minor one I would say, but I know now how easy it is to get lost, because not only do you filter the information you get, but the internet itself does this for you on a high level. That's why we should be should always keep an open mind. I remember reading, that, when Arith researchs he does that not only from his own perspective (in favor of his theory), but he takes on the part of his nemesis, too and tries to find arguments for both sides, which is a great way to stay as objective as possible. I will adopt this for my research (and the building of my opinions) ... we all should.

    2. Anti-Semitic implies one is "against the descendants of Shem / Sem " (which jews are not a part of, yet claim to be of).
    3. The Black Sun does not initially have any "Nazi" origins, as Arith points out.

    I’m visiting Wewelsberg in 2 weeks to film a little on Nazi esotericism. What I think is fascinating is that there were clearly two schools. The foundation for their beliefs was an eccentric Frisian scholar, Dr Herman Wirth, who believed the legitimacy of the Oera Linda Book. He believed that Aryans came from Atlantis, but when it sunk they went to Frisia - making it the cradle of Aryan civilization. Himmler heard this and thought “that’s some cool shit,” so he invited Wirth and his assistant Darre to a meeting.
    Darre had created the “blood and soil” ideology, and Himmler was forming a political terror squad with his SS. I don’t think Wirth knew what he was contributing to, just adding a thin veneer of legitimacy through his odd obsession with Frisians. In fact, Himmler immediately sidelined Wirth, the only man with any actual scholarly background, and kept the politicians.
    Wirth kept requesting expeditions to Nordic places (closer to Atlantis) like Iceland and Norway, but Himmler insisted that the Aryans came from Iran (weirdly that’s probably true lol). But then he went full reet hard and named himself the reincarnation of Henry the Fowler and demanded to be enshrined in a black sun, based on the revelations of his mentally ill squad, Guido von List and some others.
    Wirth was sidelined so many times. Sure, he was going off of shoddy information and even the Nazis told him the Oera Linda was fake, but Himmler was straight up saying “this was revealed to my friend Guido in a dream” regularly.

    Something about the symbol of the "Black Sun" ( Черное Солнце) from the Slavic sources that you don't mention or don't exist for you, but still...
    "Our ancestors believed that the sign was sent by the Gods in order to help humanity survive difficult times. Slavic amulet Black Sun gives not only powerful protection, but also helps to find inner harmony.
    The symbol is represented by two circles that are crossed by 12 lightning-like rays. Their number corresponds to the number of months in a year, they are directed in one direction. The upper edges of the rays rest against the outer circle, and the lower ones converge inside as if lightning strikes the ground. Symbol shapes are continuous. It is believed that the talisman appeared as a result of the merger of three Kolovrats, each of which has its own sacred meaning.
    It is impossible to restore the history of the appearance of the talisman for certain. Many experts believe that it is a native Slavic symbol.
    There is a legend according to which about 6 thousand years ago the Time of Troubles (Смутные Времена) began on earth, the apogee of which was the Night of Svarog. The Slavs had to turn to Swastika signs for help, one of which was the "Black Sun" symbol. Until the terrible night, these amulets were available only to priests, but with the advent of troubled times, they had to make publication of the sacred symbols.
    Traditions say that it was this sign that helped the Slavs survive the difficult period and survive the black night. The symbol was not widely used, because people were afraid of the close connection of the amulet with the world of the dead. And in our times, after the Nazis began to use the "Black Sun", the attitude towards the symbol became completely wary, despite the bright many years of history."
    Source: "Оберег Черное Солнце: значение амулета у Славян"
    As far as I have personally researched the "Black Sun" symbol, the same stretching back into the past to our ancestral homeland of Hyperborea (ДаариЯ).

      Concerning Slavic or Balto-Slavic Sun Wheel symbols it isn't easy to determine. Just like other cultures, swastikas are found in Slavic and Balto-Slavic contexts, and sun/solar symbols derived from the swastika. However, there is no such thing as a Slavic Black Sun Symbol. The closest one is the so called kolovrat, (коловрат - "spinning wheel") which is a Solar Symbol commonly believed to be derived from the Swastika, however, there are no ethnographic sources confirming this. The problem here is that opinions differ a lot among Polish, Ukrainian and Russian academics mostly, and there are no concret evidences for the kolovrat symbol and what it meant and when was it created. Most sources point to the kolovrat as a modern symbol and not existing in pagan contexts, unlike the swastika. Besides, the kolovrat is quite different morphologically to the Back Sun Symbol here presented. Kolovrat is possibly a variant of the swastika, although there are no concret evidences of its origins, as such the non-traditional eight-armed kolovrat is the most commonly used religious symbol within neopagan Slavic Native Faith (Rodnovery). The Black Sun Symbol here presented on this video is of Nazi origins, some aspects of its morphology based on Medieval Frankish Sun Wheels (early medieval brooches within Christian context). People usually confuse this symbol with the concept of the Black Sun because the symbol in question was also called Black Sun. The Black Sun in Alchemy, or rather, alchemists and hermeticists believed that there are two Suns; one of the pure "Philosophical gold" that implies the highest attainment of the Spirit, and the other of the baser "material gold". The Black Sun is the symbol of this material form of the Sun, and symbolizes the unworked, primal matter that needs to be developed. But the Black Sun symbol of Alchemy has nothing to do with the Black Sun Symbol of the Nazis, morphologically speaking. Whether the Nazis were aware of this concept from alchemy and among hermeticists, is open to conjecture. The symbol used by wartime German occult mystics and still employed by some Neo-Nazis, is based on a mosaic set into the floor of the early seventeenth century castle of Wewelsburg in Germany. Himmler decided that the site of the castle would be the center of the proposed "New World" once victory was achieved. There is no concrete evidence as to who put this mosaic there with this symbol. If it was put there when the castle was built, the symbol in question is of the 17th century, however, there are no evidences that this symbol was previously placed there before the 20th century and the likely scenario is that its fabrigation was ordered by Himmler himself. This symbol has been used by Neo-Nazis, more than it was ever used by the Nazis, because the symbol, as said before, was somethign restricted to the German occult mystics during wartime. Since the swastika has been banned in many countries and it has the bad reputation associated to the Nazis, Neo-Nazis made use of the Black Sun symbol instead, which hides swastikas in it, actually

      @@ArithHärger I respect your channel and your attitude.
      But I do not understand such frustration because the SS troops of Nazi Germany used certain symbols that have an ancient Aryan origin (ancient Aryan as opposed to the propaganda form of Aryanism in Hitler's Germany).
      For example, Hitler wore a shirt and a tie, at that time great atrocities were committed against a certain type of people, (including my Slavic race which was an inferior race to Nazism, so that same race broke Hitler's Germany), should we ban the shirt and tie as pro-Nazi symbols?
      Let's not stigmatize people solely because of the mention or wearing of certain symbols like a Black Sun, Wolfsangel, or the Sig and Odal rune, which have a very centuries-old deep spiritual and esoteric meaning and penetrate deeply into the culture and consciousness of Europe. Less than 15 years of Hitler's reign must not have a decisive impact on European culture.
