  • We have all heard about the Black Sun Symbol. Is it really a pagan symbol? Or a Contemporanean fabrication?

    Hello everyone! After almost a whole year since the publication of this video I read all sorts of comments, so please read this one to clarify some things: In this video I said I was going to talk about the historical truth behind the Black Sun symbol. Well, in the video I said a dozen times I was going to talk about it's historical background only, and nothing of the occult. Apparently a lot of people might be hard-of-hearing or simply don't understand english, as I still receive many comments every week saying that I know nothing about this symbol because it means this and that, and I get a very amusing list of occult rubbish even though I specifically said I wasn't going to talk about it in those aspects (I've repeated that so often that the video at some point is basically myself saying over and over again that I'm only talking about it's historical background). But let's make something clear, shall we? People might say: "But Arith this symbol has a deep cultural and scientific meaning since primordial times! This symbol is the Goddess!; it represents Draconian rule!; this is a map of a projection from above with the northern point (north pole) of our planet; this represents Saturn!; the Cosmic Christ with His 12 rays; Kali yuga; Lucifer; represent Dharma; yin and yang; the divine spark in man; the fiery spirit or sulfur; Apollo; The Temple of Set; mystic rebirth; archetypical symbol of the transcendent soul." Good gods, listen to yourselves! It's everything and nothing. This is a symbol (very aesthetic and appealing) created by a bunch on 20th century back-alley nerds playing at make-believe wizards. There was no D&D at the time yet, so they spent their freetime playing with the occult. No one knows the meaning behind it, and all the concoctions above (and other nonsense) were created later on by people who made all sorts of assumptions based solely on forcibly wanting to connect every esoteric possible explanation to this symbol for all sorts of reasons. If you believe in all that nonsense they have played you for a fool. It's just a 20th century reinvention of the sun-wheel. In fact, I must add, that the 12 rays in here represent a common religious-philosophical belief of the representation of the pantheon of 12 gods, either as de sons of the Judeo-Christan God, or the 12 aspects of the same God, or even the 12 original disciples/apostles whom Jesus met in Galilee. They play you for fools over and over again: this is simply a religious-philosophy based on Judeo-Christian teachings.

      @Hermann Welsch I'm not that astute in the occult and symbolism honestly. Its something that has sorta conflicted with my beliefs and I've watched children who are lost in their lives search for some dark master to help them abolish these pains inflicted on them. Thats where my interest in researching has come from.
      It is interesting to note that Himmler was in part the person who was obsessed with alchemy and the occult. His library of research is one for the records. I understand that he created this wheel for him and his top SS officers using old Druid symbolism. The Wewelsberg Castle history with Himmler, explains it all.

It does affect us... the “magical” aspect may be up for debate but symbols do affect us and for you to claim they have no power is objectively false and wrong in every way possible. Imagery, and symbolism has inspired, or changed people people throughout history... hell the “Hitler stache” itself is a symbol... anyone who ever decides to wear it will obviously be affected by others because of what that mustache style represents and “symbolizes”.

    Sonnenrad objects of various configurations have been found in archeology from periods spanning millennia. While I agree that the specific elements of the particular symbol we’re discussing here may have first appeared in Himmler’s chateaux, I’m not at all convinced that this configuration is so materially unique that we need to consider it the exclusive property of the Nazis.

      Sarana Tari I recently read a book called ‘Psyche and Singularity: Jungian Psychology and Holographic String Theory.’ The book suggests the Jung’s description of the psyche matches the description of a Black Hole as they are both singularities. The author suggests that the Mandela imagery symbolises the Black Hole/Psyche singularity as an archetype. Perhaps the author should have also noted that a Black Hole looks exactly like a Black Sun! Of course, we now have the photos of an actual Black Hole to prove that it really does!!!

    The Black Sun has duel meanings. The upfront meaning is a representation of the suns influence & power you don't see in our day to day reality. It is divided into 12 sections as in the zodiac. It is the darkness/energy behind/beyond the visible light you see from the sun. This hidden influence is what the secondary meaning of the symbol has come to mean in esoteric circles.

Your videos have been very helpful to me in my personal interpretations of symbols and how I use them (of course, I do understand that symbols mean what we imbue in them (I am aware that just because something is ancient does not necessarily make it more or less "powerful"), but still, it does greatly interest me to know the historical significance of symbols, and what they might mean to others.) First let me say I agree with everything he said in this vid. Good job man.
    Then, I have been researching the Black Sun for years now, and the only thing I can add is this. (Apparently) The spokes of The Black Sun represent the 12 months of the year, the 12 signs of the zodiac, and the 12 Knights of the SS that would have been present at some rituals throughout the year. Himmler was a student of the occult and this symbol was created specifically for the SS. There are connotations with the Knights of the Round Table and the Holy Grail. There may also be a connection with the Thule Society (and other less famous occult organizations in Germany at that time). Also, ALL Alchemical allusions are appropriate. It is also representative of the (mythical?) invisible sun that is Sol's counterpart. (yin and yang/light dark, etc.) Also, it radiated energy that could be tapped into. And there is some association with the Inner Earth, Vril, etc.
    That's all I can think of off the top of my head at the moment.
    If anyone has anything to add I would be interested in hearing it.
    Hope this helped.

    Thank you, Arith Härger, for clarifying this symbol and cult-ish back ground. In my novel, "Manner of the Sundog," I made mention, (somewhat,) of this cult, as well as the "Order of the Sonnerand." It is shrouded in mystery and cult-pop fiction, as far as "MOTSD" has concerned. The Sun Wheel was found engraved on the floor of a well known, very old, Bavarian Castle in Germany, and has raised many questions as to... why? And it did have many connections to the Nazi party, as well as the Swastika, an ancient religious icon in various Eurasian cultures, appropriated by Hitler. Yes, making it very political. And I hate to get political. But so much dis-information surrounds its meaning, and origins. As a fiction writer, I agree, and admit, that the lack of knowledge allows me to create more interesting, and mythical stories around it. And not to cast any doubt on Mr. Arith Härger's dissertation. He is very much, mostly right. But it is a symbol that was used throughout ancient cultures, and ruminates unwitting acknowledgments. We may never know the true meaning without actual historical documentation. And I appreciate Arith's expert explanation of its symbiology. Which I find somewhat oppressive, in the way of searching for its true historical meaning. Never stop learning, and stop discovering. And thank you Arith, for your introduction to Arian Mythology. Well done.

    It is worth saying that there are no reliable sources at all and evidence that during the Third Reich this symbol was called the "black sun" - in any case, I could not find such a mention anywhere. This symbol began to be called the "black sun" only in the post-war period in the books of authors such as Wilhelm Landig, Miguel Serrano and others, as well as in the texts of all sorts of mystifiers. Some have tried to associate this symbol with Alchemy, but there is no such symbol (precisely a symbol, not a concept) in the alchemical books.
    As far as I remember, very similar symbols were on Allemanne brooches, as well as on some antique mosaic ...

  • @ZuNichtsZuGebrauchen
    @ZuNichtsZuGebrauchen 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Great video, I was at first hesitant to watch this for reasons similar to why you were hesitant to make this. I've reasearched the symbol and it's origins myself a while back and as far as I can tell, you're factually correct in everything you've said, but there are one or two things to add.
    The central point, taken from Julian Strube (2012) "Die Erfindung des esoterischen Nationalsozialismus im Zeichen der Schwarzen Sonne", is that the motive of the black sun is actually quite old and that the identification with the symbol of the Wewelsburg mosaic is a very recent development.
    The black sun (lat sol niger) is actually mentioned in the alchemical Splendor solis (1582) by Salomon Trismosin, later adapted by writers from Charles Baudelaire to Julius Evola. In post war literature regarding occult nazism and more specifically the SS, the motive of the black sun was quickly adapted, but the description of the symbol itself don't sound much like the popular symbol from the Bodenornament in the Wewelsburg. The first time the sunwheel in the Wewelsburg was identified with the black sun was in the book "Die Schwarze Sonne von Tashi Lhunpo" by Stephan Mögle-Stadel, published under the alias Russell McCloud in 1991.
    Even though it is now the norm in far right circles and outside of them to identify the two with one another, it's a fairly new interpretation of post war esoteric neo nazi literature.
    I understand why a lot of people don't want this to be nothing more than a nazi symbol, since I get it's aesthetic appeal. I certainly would not hesitate to use it if it actually was a legitimate ancient pagan symbol.
    PS: Du musst zwar noch etwas an deiner Aussprache arbeiten und der Singular am Anfang war etwas ungewohnt, aber deine Grammatik und Satzstruktur sind sehr gut.

    The form of the runes and having them radial mirrored, could be seen as one part of them female one part male. A balance between the two genders.

    One possible explanation for the number 12 and why it appears so many times (as in the Bible) is that it represents the idea of there being 12 ages. Since there is one sun that passes through those 12 ages, when 12 is added to 1 you get 13, which is the number of chakras in the 13 chakra system (or other chakra system). 13 is also the number of "levels" on the Illuminati pyramid and 13 is a very instrumental number on the one dollar bill (for example, "Annuit Coeptis" has 13 letters and the number one is represented 13 times on the one dollar bill; the 13th time is in the word unum, which is Latin for one).

The one with twelve spokes is a modern creation, yes, as the Zierscheibe found have 5, 6, 7, or even 9 'Sig' spokes, but it's obviously the same symbol. And if you take a broad enough view it's really the same solar symbol as the swastika/fylfot, the sun cross or sun wheel, et cetera. Variations of an archetypal symbol. Not defending people who think the 12-spoke sun wheel is an ancient pagan symbol, it technically isn't, but it is a modern variant of an ancient and ubiquitous symbol

    It's value lies in its use. How ancient it is is irrelevant when one sees that perception is more powerful than truth. I see it having value because of it's origins. Those men's hearts were more pure than ours. Thank you for adding value for me.

      Stop casting spells. Truth is more powerfull than perception. Perception can and most often is a cuase of deception and programming. Perception is a false point of view. Believing in perception over truth is the equivalent of believing sarcasm over truth.

    thank you for this. All this time I've been wondering about the historical truth concerning the "black sun". I never found that symbol within the context of any old texts, while most references available were too sentimental (in a positive or negative way) to be taken seriously.

    Really enjoyed your video -I agree the black sun symbol that is most well known was definetely invented in the 20th century - the black sun as a concept has links to Sumeria and even in some Christian paintings too-glad you mentioned the Merovingian dynasty as I thought they had direct influence .Looking forward to more of your videos.

    There are very similar symbols that have been used in antiquity. I believe I saw something similar going back to the Romans , but not necessarily twelve points. The general design is older.

    This however was not the only meaning of the Black Sun, nor perhaps even the foremost. Nor was it considered a symbol of femininity in an overt sense, as lunar symbols sometimes were in the Nordic-Slavic centers in Kievan Rus, but in this aspect, more of a primal energy of the creative mother which is a sort of supernatural archetype of vitality for women to seek out. Yet because it is also a solar symbol, and thus a manifestation of primal fire (Fa), it also has a strong masculine creative aspect of which the female wearers of these brooches were also aware. For it is Odin's fire-whisk and Thor's thunder-cross manifested threefold. A man embodying both the Odinic (commanding and beguiling) and Thoric (purely dominant) essences was their ideal man, the ideal singularity of strength around which the Black Sun can rotate. This is a fundamental truth of traditional societies, and of genetics.
    The sun-wheel itself has been represented in many different forms throughout the Indo-European experience. One thing that can be agreed on, is that many ancient cultures began as solar cultures before later incorporating lunar and planetary symbols into their lore. The Sonnenrad can therefore be seen as a primal manifestation of solar symbols stretching back into the prehistory of the Aryan mind.

    Have heard that the Black Sun was actually just a piece of decoration during the war, but I don't really think that is a good explanation, because why is it even there if it's just a mere decoration, Himmler must have been inspired by something in his occult mindset to put it there?

    Black Sun =modern=bad.....?
    Swastika=ancient =good......?
    Kind of depends on one's context and intent, huh?
    We should still never surrender any of our symbols to others. If some don't apply to someone's views............don't use it........ but it is good for the kids to understand whats what.

    • @zift18
      @zift18 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Kurt Vinlander I think the issue is it's another Germanic symbol, being demonized and propagandized. If you wish to attach some form of evil to it, that is your prerogative. As the man said......no one really knows what the Nazi's thought of it (or even if the Black Sun on the Wewelsburg castle floor is genuinely from the Nazi era)........but there are plenty of people who will try to tell you what they want you to think.

    • @zift18
      @zift18 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Samantha Fennell It's not a Germanic symbol or it's not being demonized? Or both? If the form of the Black Sun symbol, as explained in the video, is found historically outside of Germanic sites and esoteric organizations, you should enlighten us. If the symbol wasn't demonized after the idiot in New Zealand painted one on his weapon, then what do you call the global media's response to the symbol, as being a symbol of racism and hate? You didn't explain and I believe if you will reread my post, you will see that I said clearly what ever you choose to believe is "your prerogative"......so how is that trying to tell anyone what to believe? What I said was ""I think the issue is", which is stating an opinion. Which was a followup to the prior poster's statement "I don't think ....I think". We are stating opinions, not spreading propaganda. What are you doing? I'd like to know because you sounded like you were some sort of authority on the issue, not stating an opinion. You said "factually", so I'd like to know, since you chose to jump in, just what you know about the Black Sun symbol as used in Wewelsburg that is "factual" and documented.....I'm all ears.

    • @markcreemore4915
      @markcreemore4915 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Black Sun symbol was designed by Himmler for the floor of Wewelsburg Castle, his "Grail Castle" for the SS.
      There are ZERO positive implications in it, zero ancient connections.
      It is a symbol for a uniquely disgusting and horrifying modern evil only.

    • @zift18
      @zift18 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@markcreemore4915 PROVE IT...You can't.....Just because it is on the floor of the castle, does not mean Himmler designed it. You are inferring. Which is my point with all of you moralists. There aren't even any records on the date the sun was placed there. Anyone who has studied the matter knows there are no known records that establish the history of the Wewelsburg Black Sun symbol. That is a fact beyond question. Since it is so nicely done, I can see how it can potentially have connections with a certain esoteric sect within the SS. It is simply not known in any way that can be considered historical proof. We do know, via abundant esoteric writings, that the notion of the Black Sun was in use and development in the century leading up to WW2 (AT LEAST), well before National Socialism even existed. It is still used by esoteric circles. So lets go out on the limb of historical recreation and say that this particular version was designed by some SS members and approved by Himmler..........I say......SO WHAT?
      Whatever moralistic meaning that YOU or OTHERS place on it are your own, along with the establishments. There are many others who choose to use the symbol esoterically or even politically to express THEIR own views. I notice that there are now beginning to be others who use it to reinforce their political viewpoints in both directions. Who has the right to judge? One side has been doing that to another for 75 years and a lot of people are past tired of it. National Socialism died as a political force in 1945 and it's not coming back. The coffee is cold. At this point, I'm much more worried about the force that defeated the Nazi's and controls the world of today.
      Symbols are highly individualistic expressions. The Black Sun has a modern meaning to many quite apart from whatever Viking role players need to find in it.

    • @markcreemore4915
      @markcreemore4915 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zift18 I prove it by not being able to find that symbol anywhere prior to the 30s. If you can, present it here.
      As the video points out, there are pieces of jewelry that kinda/sorta look like it, but the have no symbolic value, they are merely design elements, and anyway, there are more differences than similarities.
