I made this bread today and it is amazing! Thx for the recipe and the how to steps. First time I’ve seen someone use the batter beater to mix and then switch to the dough hook to knead. I think that makes a huge difference!
@@HerHomesteadSkills Yes we sure did! It came out beautiful and I had no problem slicing it with my serrated bread knife- didn’t even have to freeze it!! Thanks so much again!

Great vid Toni. I'd hate to be the purse snatcher who goes after you seeing that punch down. :) Will try this recipe as well. Tried the whole wheat pizza dough recipe with half all purpose. Came out great. Will go full whole wheat next time
This recipe was simple and delicious! I used it to make sandwiches and they turned out great. The bread was very easy to slice using a meat slicer. This will become a new staple in my house. Thanks for sharing.
I made this recipe today. It was GREAT! I did take your suggestion and made 2 loaves instead of 1. Still had beautiful smaller loaves with wonderful flavor, and it cut the baking time by 10 min. Thank you for sharing this recipe. I’m sure to make it often, so quick and easy! Thanks!
Earlier I posted that I was going to try your recipe and I am eating a piece of it now and it’s a keeper!! It turned out so nice!! It’s got a great taste to it, it’s nice and soft, just like when I was younger and my mom used to make it!
Lol, I just love your ‘or so’ after your measurements, and times! 🤣🤣 This will be my 4th recipe to try. I won’t mention my age, but I’m just making bread for the first time because I bought myself a Kitchen Aid and I want to keep using it, plus I love homemade bread and the bread I buy is more than $4.50 per loaf! So I’m excited to make my own!
I have made breads and rolls before, with a heavy duty hand mixer, but not for quite a while, due to my shoulders and hands not being what they used to be. I blame that on mileage, not age...LOL 😉
Thank you for your video. God, one loaf at a time, .... That's a deterrent to me, ... being lazy and all. I make five loaves at a time because that's what my oven holds. Five loaves are generally good for a week give or take a day. The bread gets frozen right away (As soon as it's cooled and bagged) and comes out of the freezer as fresh as it went in. True story. Still, I'll give this a try. I just wish I had your tools! All I have are my arms and hands eh? OK, when we were kids and couldn't wait for the bread to cool enough to cut, we'd place an old bread knife across the hot burner on the stove and heat it up to cut the loaf with. It works like a charm too. Like a hot knife through butter, except it's bread of course. I've recently started using an egg and some Milk in my bread recipe and it doesn't hurt it at all IMHO. It is a touch more crumbly though. Not a lot but I notice. Thank you for the recipe and demo Toni! And keep up the great work.
Thank you for this video. My wife and I bought the same mixer 40 years ago. I could not hear what the 3rd ingredient. I suspect that it is yeast but what you said sounded different. Good Luck, Rick
Another recipe for me to try! Can hardly wait! Do you slice with serrated knife or use electric knife? I`ve started using my electric & it is so much easier. Thanks for sharing your recipe..the high rise bread looks awesome!!
Going to give that recipe a try for sure. That's the first time I've seen homemade bread look like commercial sandwich bread. My husband says that the only thing he dislikes about homemade bread is that it doesn't make a good sandwich. Well what he considers a good sandwich. LOL
Guess what I’m doing??? I’m making this recipe in my Oster Bread Machine on the “dough” setting… 1-1/2 C + 1 t warm water 3 T sugar 1 T yeast 3 T softened butter 4-1/4 C flour 1 heaping t salt It is proofing & has 45 minutes to go… YES! My grandmother is probably turning in her grave with crossed eyes right now!!! She ALWAYS made her bread the traditional way… However, I believe she will be impressed with my ingenuity when I tell her that I figured out how to make bread with a machine, of all things!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@HerHomesteadSkills Wish I could show you the pic of the finished product! This IS the bread bomb of all time!!! Perfectly moist, soft & oh so DELICIOUS!!! I have been searching for this recipe for a LONG time and am so happy to have found it!!! Thank you, Jo 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
accidentally deleted, sorry, I added the ingredients list here for you as well as back in the video...I now divide the dough into three loaves instead of two. Basically the recipe we use. The first time my dad had he said it was like eating Twinkies!! The only problem with soft bread is its now difficult to spread butter on it now that they are using palm oil to supplement the feed.

Thank you so much for this recipe! I can't wait to try it. I just used my Christmas and birthday gift cards to purchase my first stand mixer (on sale). I'm going to try this recipe, but first I had to go to Amazon and order that cast iron bread pan with handles. I also make all my own soaps. Hope I get as nice a loaf as you did looks so good.
I’m having that problem too. I’ve been wondering if I swap out one cup whole grain for 1 cup all purpose or bread flour, would it be lighter. Going to try that on my next loaf.
@Carolyn Egan No, actually this recipe produces really soft bread, almost like the store bought stuff, and I just use all purpose flour...I believe it may have something to do with the increased amounts of water, sugar and yeast relative to the amount of flour that I normally use.
@@carolynegan5916 I feel the same way about waste, Carolyn. I’ve been going to ask Toni myself, so I was glad to see your comment. I hope you didn’t mind my interjection.
@@karenallen1730 not at all, no worries! So I did read that when using fresh milled flour it’s best to use less, like 1/4 or so less, than all purpose because the wheat flour absorbs more water making the dough dense. And adding 1 TB of the vital wheat gluten helps with elasticity. Maybe Toni can jump in with her thoughts? I’m going to give it a go soon, see if what I read was right 😉
What a beautiful loaf of bread ❤️❤️
