  • Example question and answer to design short column based on the design charts.
*Correction: in the table that calculates the area of reinforcement, the 3rd and 2nd level load = 720 kN, the 1st level = 540 kN.

Very good and informative videos, concise
You need to make videos on more worked examples.
You need to give explanations on :
Calculation of wind loading to BS or Eurocode,
    Flat slab design,
    pad foundation design,
    Raft foundation design,,
    Retaining walls design,
    Lift core wall design,
    among others
    Thanks keep it up.

Hello Sir, Can you make a video with this same example on an unbraced column?

Hello Sir, why didnt you add the selfweight of the column to the design axial force?

Yes, you are right. The self-weight of the column, as well as the beams and slab, should be considered. However, in this example, the calculation steps have been simplified. I assume that the Gk is inclusive those self-weight.

please why is the third floor load 540KN?...when initially you calculated 720KN for that floor?

Your right, it was my calculation error. The 3rd and 2nd levels should be 720 kN and the 1st level should be 540 kN. Thanks for pointing out the mistake. Appreciate it.

hallo sir why are you not including the beam self weight in your calculation

    • @eng-aim
      @eng-aim  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes. You are right. The self-weight of the beam should be included. The example assumed the loads were inclusive of the self-weight, but it was not clearly stated in the question. Thanks for reminding.
