I was at the symphony last night and heard the Enigma Variations by Edward Elgar for the first time. I knew I had heard the variation somewhere before and could not place it until tonight. Then went on a search and found this and there it is as the intro to this song.
Elgar created this piece on his piano while just messing around. His wife liked it and he ended up writing a total of 14 variations on the theme to represent the personalities of his friends and family and ended up with a 32 minute symphony.
