Blow gun around the pistons. It's not much different then when scraping gaskets and getting the old carbon off of the pistons. When your done roll the engine around and the ATF or whatever you use will kind of hold the grit and dirt to the bore and just roll it around wiping and blow it off real good when your done. It'll be fine.
Is that an Aluminium block or iron? I'm doing a head gasket & I think the block has low spots, especially in the thinner sections between cylinders. I don't see any indicator spots on the block that tell me the maximum amount of material I can remove. What's the maximum amount of material you can take off t eh block before it becomes too much?
Iron. I wouldn't do anymore than I did. The stone will show you if you have low spots but if you really try and remove material it would be almost impossible to keep it flat. If it's real bad it may need decked at a machine shop. I didn't go past the factory machining marks.
I probably only spent 30 minutes of actual working total including cleanup. I wouldn't go too far once you've seen and addressed if there are any highspots you don't really want to go past the factory machining marks.

What parts are you getting for your zj?
Hi, did this method hold a head gasket? I have been trying to get my deck surface completely clean for a long time now and it seems neverending.
Yes and it was running 12psi of boost
What about the grit and filings getting on the rings?

You have to get that a lot smoother for an MLS! It will blow over time in between the cylinder walls like you left it
I'm not using an MLS tho
Good video how to tho!
Nice
How long should I do this process for on each side?

@Thomas Beyer thanks alot for the informations
What type of head gasket did you have on that blew? Was it an MLS gasket or regular, fiber type one?
IV blown both. Regular fiber was the last one it blew to the valley. MLS blew between the cylinders after it got a little hot once.
@@thomasbeyer Thanks.
Son you have to get that a lot smoother for the MLS! It will blow every time in between the cylinder walls like that

My bad thought yurs was s10 with a v8 in it?
Thank you. It's a 360 Dakota RT
A carbide superscraper does way better than any razor blade. Just have to be careful not to gouge with it.
I'll check that out
Just gonna get more whale noises dude!!!
