New to your channel and luv luv to see reaction videos of QUEEN, and I have watched a lot of QUEEN reactions, to see how many younger people react and everyone is basically shocked at how concerts were back then. That was the way it was and everyone always say, that they wish they could go back in time to witness the live concerts that we had the “PRIVILEGE “, of saving our money and going.
John retired from performing in 1997, having become increasingly uncomfortable with carrying on professionally without Freddie. He was always far more shy than the others, and being famous was difficult for him. He preferred having Freddie out front getting most of the attention. On top of that was terrible personal grief, as can be expected. And so John told them “I just can’t do this anymore” - and retired quietly out of the spotlight to be with his wife and children full time. According to Brian and Roger, they have little-to-no contact with John , although they say he’s still somewhat active in the business side of Queen Productions. But it’s not just them who have no contact - John keeps pretty strictly private from almost everybody but his own family. I can respect that, and I hope he’s living a happy and peaceful life at home.
Mack is Reinholdt Mack, a German Record Producer & Engineer; Freddie talks about him in interviews as well, and you can see him in-studio w the guys in the music video and also the mini documentary for “One Vision”. When Fred was living in Germany for awhile in the mid 1980s, he became VERY close w Mack’s family… so that they actually named their youngest son after Freddie. Fred was a Godfather to “Little Freddie” and he enjoyed SPOILING the little boy “rotten”. (John Deacon was a Godfather to Little Freddie Mack, as well.) In Fred’s latter time of his illness before passing away, he also took comfort in spending time w the Mack family. Mack also appears in interview segments for documentaries where he talks about Freddie and Queen. (I love his accent!)😄
One thing that strikes you when hearing interviews with aged rock stars -- not just Brian and Roger as here, but in general -- is how smart those guys are. And then you realise that part of the reason must be that the smart ones are the ones who survived to an old age...
It's beautiful to see how everyone remembers Freddie with affection despite so much time having passed, there is an interview with Elton John that also breaks my heart, there were many people who lost a great friend
I loved the movie, that led me to the Queen's music and Freddie. But when I started to dig myself into the several books, interviews, documentaries I learned, that the real Freddie Mercury was very different to the depicted one. I really don't know why Brian and Roger let the story going this way.
Imo the only good thing about the movie is the music. They did Freddie dirty. He came across as a joyless, self loathing, miserable, bitchy person who was sad and pitifully pining after Mary like a jealous loser. Whilst completely ignoring his many passionate gay relationships. They also made it look like Freddie was ruining the band through his selfishness and arrogance while they themselves look almost like angels. Sad way to treat the memory of a 'friend'.
It was Reme Malik who played Freddie, totally worth a watch. There’s also some good documentaries out there with the band participating, i think a good one was done by the BBC.
Rami Malek played Freddie in the movie Bohemian Rhapsody which I think was released at the end of 2018. Malek won the Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of Freddie in 2019. The movie is easy to find online or on DVD. You might even be able to find it on TH-cam. The movie is excellent but it is not a documentary and a lot of the timeline is off, particularly that which involves Freddie finding out about his illness. Also some things are changed up to make them more "movie worthy" and entertaining. It is hard to cram 20 years into a two hour movie but all in all it was done well and portrayed Freddie in a fairly truthful light. Just bear in mind, it is a movie and don't accept that everything is fact because much of it is embellished or changed for the sake of the movie. Do watch it though, it is very good movie. John retired from music a few years after Freddie's death. He did keep in touch with Brian and Roger for a time and did handle some of the financial portions of the business but ultimately, he wanted to live a quiet life and leave his performing life behind. John is still 1/4 of the business and was very supportive of all of the band's endeavors but eventually just made it clear that if he didn't say anything, then he had no objections. He has not communicated with Brian or Roger in many years though they do still leave him messages about all of the official business of Queen and the things they intend to do. John still receives 1/4 of the profits of everything Queen, as does Freddie's estate in the form of the Mercury Phoenix Trust which is a charity that assists in education, research and treatment for AIDS and those suffering with/from it. This charity was set up by the remaining members of Queen in order to continue to channel Freddie's portion of the profits into the place that Freddie had wished.
Great info, Rami won an Oscar? Wow I definitely have to check it out! thank you for sharing sherry!! I wish I could do a watch along here with you guys but TH-cam will probably block that, I’ll still try 🚀💛
I really like the film, despite it not being a documentary and having many chronological changes it's worth watching (I didn't understand anything when they showed Queen at Rock in Rio in the 70s, their first appearance in Latin America was in 81, and Rock in Rio in 85, we understand that it was for the plot but it's funny) as well as Freddie's diagnosis which actually only occurs after the Magic tour, I believe they tried to fit the main events of Freddie's life into the short film time with the goal was to end up at Live Aid and that was the result. The actors' performance is great and Rami Malek deserved that Oscar, the actor also came from an immigrant family. However, it certainly lacked consultation with Freddie's closest friends like Peter Freestone and Mary to make the film, I think it would have been even better. About Mack, I think he was a producer who worked a lot with Queen after the 80s, he appears in the One Vision documentary, also a great friend of Freddie
Peter Hince (Ratty) also was displeased with them not consulting with actual close friends/confidants of the band... He was not happy that Rami (Freddie) didn't laugh once during the movie, as Fred laughed all the time.... but it's the music that carries it....
@@susanp.7954 I also miss the presence of his close friends within the film itself, it's as if they don't exist, being it was them, including Jim, who cared for him until the end...
In 1997 Queen released an album Queen Rocks with nothing but their best rock songs. At the end, the final track is one last new song No One But You (Only The Good Die Young). Recording that song in the studio was the last time Deaky played with the band. I listened to that song for the first time last week and it hit me like a truck!
1) you can probably stream the movie on one of the streaming platforms 2) Rami Malek played Freddie and was absolutely amazing and won several Best Actor awards for his role 3) I just saw Queen in October with Adam Lambert for the second time and they are as good as ever and Adam has an incredible voice and does justice to their music and paying tribute to Freddie
Are you serious, I’m jealous, lol!! I bet you had the time of your life seeing them recently. So what do they do for Freddie’s parts in the songs now? Are you saying Adam lambert is performing his parts ?
@@PlutoPlease Adam sings lead on the songs. The man has an incredible voice. If you’ve never heard him with Queen, the first thing you should see is him performing Who Wants To Live Forever at the Isle of Wight festival from 2016. You’ll understand his power. He has been touring with Brian and Roger for over 10 years performing Queen’s vast catalog.
You should definitely check out the movie, I absolutely loved it and despite not being 100% chronologically accurate it’s still brilliant, in the own words of the cast and Brian & Roger, it’s a film, not a documentary, they had to change things in the timeline for it to make sense and to be more entertaining as a film, which they were all okay with. I don’t know if you could do a watch along here but it’d be awesome if you could at least do the Live Aid performance recreation which is the last 15 minutes of the movie, it was the best part! Rami is so talented and the best they could’ve found for Freddie, he won several awards including an Oscar and most importantly really respected Freddie’s memory and did him justice, even if you can’t do a reaction you should really check it out!!
Thank you so much for sharing this info, wow they recreated the live aid performance now that’s interesting. I’ll definitely check it out and share what I can 🚀💛
@@PlutoPlease They sure did! It was the one thing that was 100% choreographed to follow the original, the whole thing is here on TH-cam actually, they did the whole performance but condensed it to 15 minutes for the movie, the 20 minutes one got released later on DVD and it’s even better. It was the very first thing they filmed and where the movie ends, it’s such an experience especially on the big screen 🤍
I know everyone raves about the film, and for me the best part was Gwilym Lee as Brian May, but in my opinion the best portrayal (in looks, in speech and mannerisms as well as everything else) was John Blunt in the docudrama "Who Wants To Live Forever - The Freddie Mercury Story." I think he did a far better job than Rami, who I just couldn't take to as Freddie. I really do recommend that you give this a whirl. It is properly informative, containing interviews with the people concerned, as well as dramatising many scenes of Freddie's life, including his death. Since you seem to be a great fan, I do urge you to see it.
Mary was the love of his life. The song is wrote to her. They was soulmates. I strong belive that Freddie did separate love from sex. The male partner he had was for sex. Mary he really loved. I dont understand why people hate her. She is the only one who know where he's grave is. If you dont belive he loved her. See How Much he gave her in his will. His boyfriend at the time Jim Hutton did'nt get so much from him. Mary was the love of his life no doubt about it.
I didn't know that only Mary knows his grave, that to me if something shows how much he loved and trusted her and that she was the most important person to him, people should respect that. Love how you feel sexually can be different. Sure the love of his life probably could have been a man too but it just happened to be her.
Just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate and thank you for having a open mind. Anyway, there is a video that I really really would love you to react to about the last 3, after Freddie’s 😢sad passing away. It’s the very last time Brian, Roger and John played together. To! I am not old but started listening to all different types of music in the late 70”s and had to work hard to pay for my ticket. That being said, you definitely need to watch the whole movie and remember that in that time “FRAME “, late 70”s” early 80”s is when people were dying of a VIRUS, and it was against the law if you were a different person that no one could per say anything about AIDS!! @Pluto_Please think of BoRhap, the movie, as a graphic fisheye. What other commenters are explaining/dissing is the necessity of the script development which seriously exaggerates Fred's time in Germany. It is *so* important to the band, and the continuity to the general audience, to be aware of how fragile the band was at that point. Timelines --- in the movie-- are skewed, but simply to move the band's genesis along. Because this movie is a 'one off', there exists some 'poetic liberty'. *No* Fred, nor the Band, knew of Freddie's AIDS diagnosis at "Live Aid", but foreshadowing is important to this 'one off' movie/bio-pic. *Please* watch and enjoy "Bohemian Rhapsody". Ask us anything you might find questionable. The Bio-Pic Movie won awards for a reason. Brian and Roger spent 10 years meticulously overseeing the script writing and panning (not to mention mentoring the actors) the actual filming. Watching 'BohRhap" is a great Queen experience (available, for purchase of course, on TH-cam)---free somewhere :-) ?!
The movie is that, a movie. Thing were embellished for rating purposes, IMO. Just do not think that was absolute truth. The documentary was more accurate. It was a very well done movie and they cast the actors well.
Just be careful. The movie has a lot of untruthful facts. It's important to just get the emotion of the movie and don't trust 100% on it. If you watch it, you'll have to watch a video of facts checking.
Because, it was just different men that were dying from a VIRUS, and it was so sad and horrible because people were scared, mean, and killing people that were different. They had no idea what was going on!! Then, women and children were starting to die from it, and, so sad to sad to say, people were turning on them! Still not knowing the cause of the virus.
The movie had good moments, it's a movie so it's not completely factual. I would recommend the documentary Freddie Mercury the untold story, it starts when Freddie was a child born in Zanzibar, being sent to boarding school at 7 in India, then through his career, it's excellent. Also Queen days of our lives. The movie in my opinion got things wrong especially with how they portrayed certain things, they never broke up, but the movie said they did, made Freddie to combative which he wasn't, he was the pacemaker, Brian and Roger were always getting tempers flying.
I have TWO interview links for John Deacon to share with you. This first one is in 1977 during the News of the World Tour… he was 26 years old and still quite boyish seeming, despite being 2 years married and a father. He’s so cute here ! th-cam.com/video/QlQ6ZCQRseo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ePNrt7zk6O0r9xif The second one is from 1986 ( the Magic Tour), with John having matured quite a lot in the previous 9 years. The interview is pieced together from shorter snippets that the uploader found from several sources, but it’s all part of the same interview. th-cam.com/video/JIJOQk2n_FE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=zCUc4fXM3ckSrbGa It’s also very fun to find joint interviews with John and Roger together, especially when they made appearances on Japanese TV - this one will make you laugh, it’s so silly ! th-cam.com/video/xhlAKUPguS4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=NPM4QSM7hE1Nx-wy
I wouldn't watch it,I did it is bad, actors are good but the changes are (i think) indefensible and now people are quoting the changes as fact. On the other hand i guess if your not bothered by accuracy it's fun.
Let me tell you, the film did not do good justice to Freddie. It was not truthful but yes, most certainly entertaining in the wrong ways. Roger and Brian came away from the film as saintly family men. Freddie however was portrayed as selfish, sorrowful and lonely and as if if did not really care about Queen. That could not be further from the truth. Freddie did not do half of what the film portrayed. It misses the fact Brian and Roger had done solo albums first, but did it like Freddie wanted out of Queen to be selfish and do his own solo and leaving Queen!! Not true. They had also toured just before Live Aid so hadnt broken up and not played together in years. Best to watch documentaries first and get the true basic facts is my advice. Reinhold Mack by the way is a producer. You see him in the making of the One Vision video. You can look up his son Freddie Mack who is Freddie's godson.
Beware of the movie, personally I wouldn't watch it until you know more about them so you know what's fact and what's fiction (most of it!) This is my personal opinion - the only good thing about the movie is the music. They did Freddie dirty. He came across as a humourless, self loathing, miserable person who was sad and pitifully pining after Mary like a jealous loser. Whilst completely ignoring his many passionate gay relationships. It was heavily sanitised to appeal to a wider (and let's face it, heterosexual) audience. They also made it look like Freddie was ruining the band through his selfishness and arrogance while they themselves look almost like angels. I love Queen and I still do like Brian and Roger a lot but the way they treat the memory of a 'friend' in that film surprised me. Just go into it with a huge pinch of salt.
I didn't really like the movie. Some of it was just made up and that ruined it for me. Although Remi did a fair job ofplaying freddie.... he is NOT Freddie! I agree that the actors playing the other 3 were very good. No , I enjy the documentaries much better, paricularly the BBC ones. I also watched a good documentary called 'The Great Pretender' mainly about Freddie's individual projects... did you know he actually did a ballet with the Royal Ballet?

So much in the movie NOT TRUE…but I like the movie…it is just a movie not a documentary

Ok I will definitely check it out and share soon 🚀💛
I have TWO interview links for John Deacon to share with you.
This first one is in 1977 during the News of the World Tour… he was 26 years old and still quite boyish seeming, despite being 2 years married and a father. He’s so cute here ! th-cam.com/video/QlQ6ZCQRseo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ePNrt7zk6O0r9xif
The second one is from 1986 ( the Magic Tour), with John having matured quite a lot in the previous 9 years. The interview is pieced together from shorter snippets that the uploader found from several sources, but it’s all part of the same interview. th-cam.com/video/JIJOQk2n_FE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=zCUc4fXM3ckSrbGa
It’s also very fun to find joint interviews with John and Roger together, especially when they made appearances on Japanese TV - this one will make you laugh, it’s so silly ! th-cam.com/video/xhlAKUPguS4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=NPM4QSM7hE1Nx-wy
Great suggestions, 1977 interview reaction just dropped! Check it out 😁🎁🚀
I wouldn't watch it,I did it is bad, actors are good but the changes are (i think) indefensible and now people are quoting the changes as fact.
On the other hand i guess if your not bothered by accuracy it's fun.
Wow ok, thanks for the feedback. I see that this film is very controversial lol
Beware of the movie, personally I wouldn't watch it until you know more about them so you know what's fact and what's fiction (most of it!)
This is my personal opinion - the only good thing about the movie is the music.
