    My Proframe arrived today, I don;t downhill ride, I do Reds (UK) and occasional Blacks but I value my teeth and face so this is as close as I can get to a normal lid while covering my full head.
    EDIT: Update I had a big off last week and landed heavily on my side and face, helmet performance is great and it’s very well vented, used in nearly 30 Celsius and it’s as good as an open face.

    I have had my fox proframe for a month. I am wearing it on every on every ride so I don’t have to decide ahead of time if it is an aggressive riding day or not. I am always ready now! That TDL Stage looks interesting, but they had not released the L/XL size when I was shopping. So Proframe it is for me.

      Paul Sewell awesome! Definitely can't blame you for that decision at all! It's a great helmet. Certainly interested in the TLD too

    Great review video. I need to have more comparisons on my channel and really go into depth like you have done here. Nice.

    Wondering how the proframe compares to the Bell Super DH?

    • @thomasthetrailengine9474

      Toogy Howser MTB unfortunately I haven't had a chance to run the Super DH so can't get too into specifics on comparison of the two!

      The bell super dh is the best convertible helmet on the market right now!! I definitely would recommend

      @m.perfekt3055 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't know but would assume the Super DH is for downhill on the Bell. That would be your difference since the Fox Proframe is not an actual downhill helmet. Can you use it for some moderate park action, well sure, but its not as beefy as a true downhill helmet should be. Its strength is giving you the most protection in most cases while keeping things light and cool.

      Definitely got some interest in it with it being the lightest option available. Also really digging what ive seen of the leatt dbx 4.0 from a protection standpoint

    *Works great. I especially like the grinding / cutting mode and the off mode⛑️ **allabout.wiki/Pink** Be sure to turn it back to welding mode before striking an arc, or else - flash burn. . .The only down side is the head band. Is is cheap, but I understand standard head bands will fit, so I will probably upgrade the head band.I had an old self darkening hood that worked, but I thought I was going blind because I could not see the puddle.*

    I have to say I rarely want to listen to people's full analysis, but you chose your talking points well.

    I was convinced on the Giro switchblade but listening to how the joint gets worn over time I have no idea now. I guess I'll just get a trail helmet and save up for a DH helmet later...

    Bell Super R is the same. I rather wear my MET Parachute (permanent full-face), then mess around with the BELL.
    The BELL is heavier with the chin-bar on or off. I really like it though for daily/local non-park rides. In "open mode" it is like an MTB helmet with a lot more side/lower back of the head protection.
    In a park or steep/single-track places better wear a full face. Hot, heavy, but your teeth/nose/face are precious things that are expensive/impossible to repair.

    • @denesk2794
      @denesk2794 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      BTW, people (at least me) tend to crash at the stupidest places and times. Dangerous drop or rock garden: nope. Then you slide out or lose the grip because you don't pay attention at the place where "you don't need a full face" because that's easy stuff .....
      So if I do "park" in my Bell, I just tend to leave the chin-bar on as it is a bigger pain to remove/put back than just having it on on the uphill sections.

    Thanks for vid. Love your vids. Some pro channels could learn from you how to do a review. I’m currently looking for an enduro helmet, and the switchblade is the one convertible I am interested in. This was really helpful. Now get out there and review the stages so I don’t have to do any work in figuring out which to buy!! Lol

    Perfectly timed video for me as I’m in the market and was considering a convertible helmet. Leatt just came out with a pro frame competitor that looks interesting as well. Love the videos man keep it up!

    I ride with a Giro Switchblade and I agree, definitely hot and heavy. I wear the Hero 7 on the chin of the switchblade and I agree it makes it even heavier on the neck.

    • @thomasthetrailengine9474
      @thomasthetrailengine9474  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wearing the chin bar mounted GoPro definitely doesn't help haha. I can imagine it'd feel a little heavy on just about any setup. Hard to beat the video quality it provides though

    great video. and I know you say you're done with convertible helmets. but I do wonder what you review between the new Bell Super DH Helmet would be especially in comparison to the Fox Proframe. The Bell Super DH is a convertible helmet and the first one that is safe enough to compete in full DH events. it smashes safety ratings against other none convertible helmets. and has a much more effective chin bar.

  • @Nunes929

    Had an old Bell 2r for more than 3 years. Been using the Switchblade for a couple of months and i like it a lot, very confortable, easy to install the chinbar, safety feeling, but it is a little bit hot.
    Some riding buddies use the proframe, and all of them remove the helmet for climbing, hanging on the handlrbars or elbows...
    So, not totally convinced about the concept... for now...

    • @thomasthetrailengine9474
      @thomasthetrailengine9474  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Filipe Nunes awesome! I think either way you're definitely sacrificing the breath ability of a half shell in exchange for a higher level of safety

  • @NsIX3
    @NsIX3 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good comparison. I just bought a switchblade, only because my local shop didn't have the Giro disciple (non removable chin bar version of the switchblade). I feel like it's a huge improvement over the old Giro Remedy's, in terms of weight and ventilation...those things are absolutely brutal.

    In an impact situation the chin bar on the pro frame is total shit and will snap on one side giving you a pivot system which could rupture your artery do not buy one if you value your life.
