I really didn't pay any attention to this until Stephen A pointed out something...when you think about it Pippen has a bad track record of making bad decisions...from contracts, sitting out in the last few seconds of a close game, his personal life and etc...I think he's salty and mad because he didn't have the success off the court like he thought he should have had...the one thing I like about MJ...he's quiet and allows his success to speak for him...his game, his shoes, the only former NBA player who actually owns a team and he's worth 1.6 billion dollars...and he NEVER talks about himself.

I think Scottie Pippen was scared that Jordan a brutally honest person was going to air everything that the team had gone through on the documentary. The area he didn't wanted to be shown was his own actions and how he placed himself above the team.
This book of his also showing that all these years Pippen hasn't changed and he only thinks about himself. He talks about Jordan being selfish but if you're a selfish person you naturally start pointing out others of being selfish; because, you know firsthand how being selfish really looks like.

My 2 cents on this: Scottie has learned the value of controversy and is trying to capitalize on it financially by writing this book and promoting it with these crazy statements in social media. As for the way he was portrayed in the Last Dance, it's all about his expectation of what the documentary was to be. It was filmed live during their last season together (with some edits). It's my understanding that MJ was paid for his part in the documentary. Well that's no surprise. MJ has always made other pay for the use of his image or name on their products. It's just business. Scottie is the one being selfish here. He has to own up for his own actions or lack of. He signed a contract that he was advise no to sign, then got mad when the Bulls chose not to renegotiate and upgrade his pay. He then responded selfishly, when MJ and the team were saying "WE NEED YOU, SCOTTIE!". Again, this is all business for Scottie. It's money to be made ........... and he may have to pay MJ for the use of his name in the book.

It's funny how with Jordan it's "just business", but with Pippen it's "being selfish". I don't really sympathise with Pippen at all in this situation, but it's still interesting how willing people are to shift perspective when talking about the two. Jordan, by all accounts a horrible person: "Well he's the greatest player ever and Jordan shoes are pretty sick, so who cares if he has more money than he'll ever need. He's a businessman he deserves to get paid." Pippen, by all accounts a beloved and respected teammate: "Lol Pippens a scrub who'd be nothing without Jordan. Who cares if he was barely getting paid more than Steve Kerr and Jud Buechler? He's still getting paid millions he doesn't need the money. He's selfish, his team needed him etc...". Can you honestly say you wouldn't be upset if you were working a job where you basically ran the place and were expected to perform at a ridiculous standard compared to everyone else, but were only getting paid minimum wage while scrubs around you who work barely as hard get paid twice more?

    • @jahsoul357

It is levels to this and points per game means nothing when you exclude attempts per game. He averaged 10 less points than Jordan while shooting 8 less shots per game (while shooting about 50%, using averages, shooting at the same rate that MJ did, he would probably average around 30ppg during the 93-94 seasson). On top of that, 1st team All NBA, 1st team All Defense, All Star Game MVP, and third in MVP voting. At the end of the day, it is what it is and MJ is the man in Chicago, but trying to say Pip didn't do nothing as the man because of PPG? Nah...that ain't the metric

    • @bobbyd1632

@@jahsoul357 Not sure where you're getting your stats from but MJ took 23 shots (FGA) per game his years with the Bulls and he hit 12 (51%), Pippen during 94 and 95 seasons (while he was 'the' man as we're discussing) took 17.5 FGA hitting 8.5 (48%), so factoring attempts per game is relevant especially considering 48% is good by Pip's standards. Also who was stopping pip from taking 23 shots per game in 1994? Nobody. His shot attempts only went up by a 1 FGA per game, yet his assists dropped by 1-1.5 per game while he was the 'man' in 1994 and 1995. His tov stayed the same, actually went up a little. His BPM barely went up to around 7, while MJ's BPM was 13, 12 (multiple times), 11... So yeah man levels, and no Pip was never averaging 30ppg, 22ppg was his ceiling for a reason.

@@jahsoul357 You make it sound easy. Any NBA player can just shoot 8 or more times per game but if he's not a great scorer, you can bet most of those would be dogshit shot attempts with little chance of going in.
Being able to get good looks for yourself consistently is a skill like anything else and is what separates Jordan, an all-time level scorer, in fact the greatest scorer ever, from Pippen, who's just good. I don't think normalizing their shot attempts just like that is the way to go because it ignores the fact that shooting efficiency more often than not goes down the more you shoot. There's little chance that Pippen maintains 48% shooting with the scoring workload Jordan had, i.e. there's little chance he ever scores 30 ppg a season. Jordan shot more than Pippen because he was way more skilled at getting good looks, and those allowed him to score a lot more all the while being even more efficient than Pip. That's why he's several tiers above as a scorer.

Jordan attempted more shots by the rate you gave but in 93-94, Pip shot just under 50%. Something ignored, Grant and Armstrong shots went up (wasn't that their only All Star Game). PIp stuck to being the facilitator of the offense by choice because it worked. Without Jordan, they only lost 2 less games and we know what happened with New York. Mike Wilbon said he should have been MVP that year. We can argue PPGs but regular season, what were the results?

I'm normalizing based off attempts and averages and you are assuming that he couldn't get 8 more shots (you might need to revisit that 93-94 season to really get an idea of what he could and couldn't do. Ego, greed, money, hostility, bitterness of the past, whatever the case may be, we don't know what goes behind closed doors. I think Scottie is more ticked off with Future and other current NBA players having an affair with his ex wife, I think Pip is hurting that his son died. I remember I DM'd one of Scottie's daughter's on IG that Scottie never seems to talk about. This daughter came from another relationship Scottie had with another woman if I am not mistaken. I watched The Last Dance and I knew Jordans comments would start trouble between them and it has but any problem between them should of been resolved with the six championships . Pippen says Jordan did the Last Dance to show the new Generation how dominate he was and I can't blame him for that I been saying to LeBron fans that the king plays good ball but The God of ball is greater and that they don't understand the hype behind Jordan and I would tell before making a comparison watch some MJ games and then you will understand . I'm not downing any LBJ fan or trying to start a debate but if you can watch a guy that big going to the rim with little to no contact and think he is the Goat and start playing in the NBA right out of highschool then i can understand why Mike's competitive drive would be like they all forgot let me show them all .
