I do not own other versions of the album so I can't add to the comparison but can appreciate the compact and good way it was presented and explained. I am super happy with my UHQR version, exactly why I puchase these special editions. As Chet mentioned, a possible first spread into others genres and audiences. Let's see where he will take us next.
Great job Michael. Still waiting patiently for mine to arrive, but I suspect it’s close.. as a student of audio, I would really love to see someone do these shootouts with sound wave comparisons. This would require recording a song from each pressing, or the entire record, into a digital workstation, but only for the purpose of seeing the visual representation of the music. This would give an idea of how much dynamic range is in the recording which gives us an indication of how much compression was applied during the mastering process on those originals vs a reissue. I know personally when I have compared the sound waves between different releases of the same CD, it blew me away how different they look. You don’t need to be a pro to see those differences, and it’s an aspect of the recording that most people don’t ever see, especially before buying! Great job listening back and forth between 5 records, I haven’t seen you this exasperated since the Blondie Box 😂
@@Michael45RPM I don’t think it was ever confirmed that the original (UK or US) were cut all analog? UK mastering engineer Noel Summerville mastered the album (CD version I think) but not sure if he cut the vinyl (he can cut AAA though), but his signature isn’t in the deadwax. Maybe he cut it, maybe he didn’t? If not where was it cut? We’re they AAA capable? Just questions we should ask. Sometimes it feels like AAA is being assumed with Jack and the Stripes. Jack didn’t really start getting into producing AAA vinyl until the post-2010 reissues IIRC. He’s even made statements prior to the print so Stripes reissue campaign that he couldn’t hear the difference, even after SH/KG cuts of Icky Thump 😮 which was likely commissioned by WB label and not Jack, same with the second Raconteurs (cut AAA by KG). These albums sound amazing! Just curious…I’ve been trying to find information myself as a curious fan. I enjoy the channel and video!

Thank you for the video - enjoyable as always. But still: perceived bias? As long as you cannot compare the pressings all at the same time and having a blind shootout, there will always be the question towards perceived bias, I am afraid.
Why are there so many videos comparing 33 and 45 rpm records when it's obvious that given an equal quality source the 45 will sound better? It's physics.

It’s possible and most likely that only the 10 year (WG/NRP cut) and the UHQR are truly all analog.
