Not a big deal IMO because it hits Chad's ideals. It's a blues record for the most part. It's the rare post-2000 album recorded to tape rather than digital. And it has very few instruments - 2 mostly - to allow for the vaunted "air between instruments" requirement. It is not breaking Chad's mold. It conforms to it.

Mines on preorder in Melbourne (I live in Brisbane Au), and I can’t wait!! I just got my Love Supreme last week, it takes time to get here through stores. But man I’m loving the reviews on this one! I personally don’t mind alot of what Chad chooses to put out (particularly regarding jazz) but I am also excited with this release and the many cool titles in the Atlantic 75 series he’s doing! Amazing times!!!

I pre-ordered it the day it was announced but since i'm in Canada and getting it from a dealer, it a circuitous route before it gets in my hands. Crossing my fingers for late this week! Super excited to hear it and compare versus my 2003 US OG, 2008 UK reissue and the Mono XX.

Minimalistic recording is easier to get a spacious sound with I would imagine. Wish they would release l Drivin' n' Cryin' Fly Me Courageous... My favorite band since I discovered them in 1991. Some Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush would be cool to hear also.
It would just be cool to have audiophile pressings of those - maybe not full on UHQR since they can get pricey, just good 45rpm versions - I feel like most of the music from the 90s needs to be pressed on 45rpm to get the most out of it.

You spend over 6 minutes talking about the packing and how great it looks but what I care about most is how does it sound?? I’m not going to spend 150 dollars on a beautiful box!! How does it sound next to an original???

Terrific, I felt the exact same way. However, that mono is a totally different beat. Plus, the extra bars at the end of seven nation army....

Just curious - is the reason why Analogue Productions don’t do “newer” albums is because they are all recorded digitally vs needing pure analogue tape to produce their records? I would guess anything over the past 20+ years is all digital, no? Just wondering what your thoughts are. Great video!
Personally - I think they reserve the UHQRs for records they know will sell. They can get the rights to do. And then what they like at least at first. But I do think they would be open to newer stuff. Even stuff that was not pressed on tape but recorded really well. For a while it will be classic stuff and by that I mean even 20 years or older.
Is that a Fluance rt83 TT you're using?
No it’s the rt85 and I upgraded the cartridge to the 2M bronze. Nothing crazy but paired with ifi zen phono it sounds really great.
@PiecesofVinyl Nice! My roommate has the same ifi phono with a 2m blue and it sounds great on his Audio Technica! I have a Pro-Ject DC Evo with the tube box s2 and love the warmth of the tubes! Nice set up you got! Knowing that, I can honestly take your opinion with much more weight. Looks like I might be getting a nice Christmas present for myself, lol!
I applaud Chad for doing this title. Actually I was quite shocked by this release when Chad announced this UHQR. I am not a huge fan of White Stripes Elephant but I may get this when I get the necessary funds to purchase this UHQR. Do you have an OG copy of this album to compare?

The latent issue with 'modern' recordings is 1. how many were analogue? And 2. many great albums post 1990, but how many were recorded well enough to validate UHQR treatment? For example, listen to classical records from 1960 and compare to a 'modern' recording. The 1960 will smoke it.
I agree - I think people want the 90's Seattle stuff and beyond that maybe some hip hop? Like Beastie Boys or Tribe Called Quest - they are recorded to analog but it's a different beast - but still that would be cool to have. I agree though - better recording quality in general from music in the 60s/70s/somewhat 80s - there is just better production.
Man I hate those huge boxes. I only have one UHQR, the Miles Davis KOB, and I threw away the huge box. What a waste.
Threw away the box!? To each his own - I get sentimental for the hype stickers!! Sometimes even the packing tape on certain records! But I understand they take up a lot of space. I would store it somewhere in a closet - just for the possible resale factor too. Though I never sell anything!
Yes, also hate the UHQR outer box. I wish they could do something a little more slim and elegant.
Also, WHY have something which minimises the art work. I know the sleeve is inside, but still.
@@PiecesofVinyl I did keep it in a closet somewhere for about a year. Then one day I was cleaning up I noticed the box again and decided to just throw it. My copy sounds so good that I probably won't sell it. This huge boxes have no purpose except to try to justify the high cost IMO
