Catching mackerel from the beautiful North Wales coast, then going home to give a full demonstration of filleting the fish with minimal wastage before quickly pan frying it. On this occasion, I used a string of white Shakespear feathers as it was early in the season with only occasional small shoals usually farther out, so I had to cast far to reach them. For all the prized fish we have in UK waters, mackerel remains one of my favorite to catch and cook, and because they are simply so beautiful and strong.

Nicely done, I like to bring a little chopping board and a cooler bag with ice so I can fully fillet them on the rocks and feed the waste to the seals before I leave for home.

Nice to give some back to the sea. I sometimes use the carcass for stock, but otherwise try to do that myself. Thanks for your comment.
