My 2008 Grand Prix had a similar problem with the fob. It worked intermittently. Try cleaning the the inside of the fob. Soap and water for the rubber part and +90% alcohol for the circuit board. Works like a champ now.
I have a G6 and I love it, but the check engine light is on all the time! I took it to the shop to try to get to the bottom of it and they didn't know what it was even with the various codes. After taking it to the shop 3 times and replacing all of the fuel/emission related tanks, caps, coils, lines and costing an arm and a leg it finally went off and stayed of for almost a year. Now it's back on again...and the auto start isn't working. Sigh. I figured I'd have to replace the auto start mechanism in the car, but it's good to know it will probably work okay again once I get the engine light figured out. Unfortunately the auto start mechanism in the car would probably be the cheaper fix!!!
Extremely sensitive cars these Grand prix's are. Things that won't make the engine light come on and other cars will make the engine light come on and all of these green Priests of this year. I think my engine light is on because of Simply a radiator leak. I keep water in it. I used some JB Weld and rebuilt the neck of the radiator. Put the hose back on while the J-B Weld still wet. Inserted a bottle of bars stop leak with the Pebbles. So I'm good for about two weeks. Engine light off the whole time. As soon as the Engine light popped on, looked under the car, it was leaking again. Won't pass inspection because of the pending condition. Engine light on but no codes. Just pending because of the leak. I guess I'll buy a new radiator. They get brittle.
If the dic has the remote start option on it does that mean my 05 base has it already?? I bought a key gob for it after I bought the car but it’s one that only locks and unlocks the doors. Which model remote would I need for the remote start? Thanks.

On my gxp i pressed and held the lock and unlock at the same time and held it until the car beeped after i read some forums and it worked. When it stopped working again that didnt work anymore and this time i replaced the rubber pad on the remote and haven't had a problem since. Same problem, two fixes. Try both
If you have this issue with a gm product cleared the codes and and still have no start? MAKE SURE THE BATTERY CAGE IS NOT LOOSE ON FOB. Noticed mine was whyle watching what my scanner said. It would lock/unlock and instead of start it would jump to stop engine not start. As if pressed it twice 😑 Put a cigarette but in the fob to keep it down and BOOM starts like it did before 🎉🎉 This happened to an aftermarket fob i programed off amazon as well 🫡
Grand frix poniac pursuit engine light easy to fix how? Turn your key, in a on position then remove your battery negative therminal or the black cord for atlease 10 second then put it back the engine lights will be off.

My Malibu and my friends Grand Prix wont remote start unless the doors are locked! I don't know about the GP but the Malibu also has a sensor on the hood... If the hood is not closed all the way it won't start! FYI

Pull the bcm fuse, turn the key to run, off, run, off I think 8 times. The doors will lock then unlock. Hit a key on each fob you want programmed, shut the ignition off, put the bcm fuse back in.
Did the advise from Micheal Rink about programming your fob work? I have an 07 Pontiac Grand Prix and just purchased a new key and fob because my husband lost the spare. I know some Home Depots will do the transponder key but not the fobs. Please advise and thanks.

Jennifer Steadman when I first bought the car my theft system was disabled. when I got a transmission put it in I guess they reprogrammed it so it activated. turned out I had a key with the wrong chip in it. damn dealership.

I've heard you can put some grease around the seal on your gas cap to help seal it if that is the problem!

Buy a key fob off Amazon for the make and model and it should come pre programmed to your vehicle

how do you adjust the DIC date? Mines incorrect and didn't see the option anywhere to adjust it to the correct date.
