Yet they have adduced absolutely no evidence for this: Hence, they are either politically naïve or simply unconcerned about black mobility. I grew up poor with an alcoholic father. I went to bed hungry more times than I care to remember. There were very few opportunities for anybody where I grew up. So when I was old enough I joined the USN. I applied myself and did everything I could to better myself. I used the education benefits available to me to get 2 college degrees. After 25 years on active duty I retired and then became a high school teacher. Everything I have I got based on merit and hard work, nobody gave me anything.

We had everything, including all genders, races and ages from Vice Presidents, pilots, flight attendants, cargo handlers and all administrative positions as we were a global freight company with military contracts. Especially when so many examples show otherwise. Look at our Supreme Court, White House. Maybe in corporate culture there are not many minorities at the top, but you don’t just give someone a position because of their race. If it’s your company you put the strongest at the top. Because they are there to make you green. People in current generations are lost. No one’s against st you except those yelling that they are on YOUR SIDE. Just be the best you can be. Times will get hard and there can be ugly people out here but let’s not make those types give is the impression everyone in that race is like that. We all are basically the same. That’s not what we are talking about. The chart is not expressing equal opportunities that’s not the point of the chart. And lowering standards only makes the travel more dangerous. People already have equal opportunity. Life may simply not flow in such a way as to wash someone into completion of a goal. If you want to be an airplane pilot put in a lot of work and effort. Some people have to put in more than others because of intelligence or because of life circumstances. It’s not society’s fault that someone was born without any hands or feet. A blind person cannot operate a printing press. Life is unfair. The more that people understand life isn’t fair the more it will seem fair because they will know what to expect what they can do realistically in their lives.

Which is fine when we look at the example that is being used .. kids want to watch a football match over the fence, the tallest kid does not need any boxes to see over the fence, the middle one needs one, the smallest one needs two. It makes sense to distribute it in such a way that all can see over the fence.
The problem is that in reality, majority of things they want to distribute is "the result". So it does not matter you work 14 hours a day... no, you make 500k a year, so you should give away a lot of that money because there are people who are lazy and do jack shit and they ought to be on the same level as you! Because equity! That is the problem. This is how they use it. And what is their end goal. This distinction has to be made and aspire for equal opportunity, not equal outcome. If you try to level the equal outcome, our entire society will perish. It will be absolutely doomed and a war will ensue.

Some people are talented, some people have spent years gaining qualifications and some people are just born into rich families.
I don't really see why we should attempt to give everybody sufficient assistance so that everybody from Elon Musk to a crackhead in the gutter gets an equal opportunity to "watch the football match".
Do we REALLY suppose people like Joe Biden or Nancy Pelosi would accept being "lowered down" so they only have the same lifestyle as a factory worker?

As someone who took and passed AP American History and Cobcurrant Spanish, both helped me save money when it came to paying for college credit. To eliminate thosr classes would hurt kids who financially struggle bit who want a college education. I basically paid my own way through college; in fact my dad was actually OPPOSED to any of us kids going to college. One sister took out loans (still owes on those), another sister served in the Army, & I just worked abd did school kinda slowky. But that AP History class saved me from having to take 2 college classes, which saved me hundreds if dollars, so I could move on. I never looked down on those who didn't take the class or the test, & I doubt those who didn't even cared abt AP History, so who does it hurt? The hurt is only in removing advancef classes, not in the offering of them. Sorry if any typos, I'm riding in a moving vehicle.

The Senator is full of bs. For one thing the minimum standards are not being breached. The equality/equity chart is bs. The orange color is under dispute and the whole purpose of of the govt intervention in systemic racism is to even out the brown color...which is clearly not to scale. Let's put it another way. In medical terms, can you imagine if hospitals never let residents practice medicine? Because the attendees are the best of the best right? Who cares about their replacements? Every investment requires a sacrifice in the present. To say that the best pool of pilots are white males is bs. The best way to grow the pilot pool is to grow the pool of applicants. The best way to do that is by example...which is diversity hiring. Many diverse would be pilot students wouldn't think that pilot is in the list of eligible careers because they doen't see people like them in that career. That is a very powerful motive. Can you see yourself or your kids as a pro basketball player? Didn't think so. Some fixing needed there too in the reverse direction. Referring to the charts again, the disparity of the brown heights make the required talented and/or grit (orange color) unnecessarily large to overcome the brown advantage.

One half of the poster has three boys (or girls) of three different heights standing on a level grass ground facing a wooden fence and beyond the fence is a baseball game. The taller boy can easily see over the fence. The middle boy has to stand on his toes and is straining over the fence to see. The third boy is also standing on his toes, but no matter what he does, he is way too short to see the game beyond the fence.
On the other side of the poster is the same three boys, but this time the middle boy and the short boy are standing on boxes of two different sizes where they are large enough for the two to easily over the fence.
No one is bringing anyone down. Not one boy is negatively affected by the others. ALL can see the game comfortably.

As a person of color, there does come an inherent sense of pride from seeing people who look like us in certain positions such as airline or military pilot. As an Air Force brat myself, I often looked up to pilots. They were my rock stars. However, I would never in a million years advocate for relaxing standards in order to see someone like me in those positions. As a matter of fact the source of pride came from knowing that a person accomplished a very difficult feat and underwent years of hardship to attain that position. They overcame academic and logistical obstacles to earn those pilot wings. If I knew that a pilot, whether they look like me or not, did not undergo all of the prudent and necessary steps to attain their position, not only would I not want to fly on a plane with them, I would not respect them as a person.

This. Something I was taught by my running coaches and trainers is that the most satisfying part of completing a race (5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Marathon, Ultra) is not the completion of the race, but the knowing that the journey you took to get to the finish line is what got you there in the first place. The race and the ultimate completion of said race is nothing more than a celebration of all the hard work you put in prior, and a possible stepping stone to the next mountain you want to try and climb.
And just like in life, there will be people who are simply better and faster at getting to the finish line than others. Some people can complete that 5K in 15 minutes. Some in 45. Some not at all. All that matters is that they all got to the starting line in the first place. How, when, and where they finish should be determined by the individual and those around them that want to help them get faster.

It's actually not reverse discrimination. It's just discrimination. To assume someone else does not have the same ability to apply themselves towards their goals based on immutable characteristics, and needs a helping hand, is simply discrimination. Are there people out there incapable of doing certain jobs? Yes. Are there people out there incapable of learning certain jobs? Still yes, but more things are within reach when people make an effort.
Bad parenting is often to blame for children unable to focus or apply themselves, and that is usually due to those parents receiving bad parenting as well. Schools focus more on making people feel complacent rather than uncomfortable with their own ineptitude. "No child left behind" is to blame for most children growing up not knowing how to think critically, and their curriculum is to blame (in addition to the parents) for them growing up not understanding HOW to be an adult.

Here's how to explain "Get woke, go broke". Equity prioritises the selection process of physical characteristics (i.e. skin color, sex) to provide opportunities to those groups. If that is the priority, then it is no longer about whoever has the best ability to do a job, but who has the highest "privilege". Companies using this are focusing more on "who" is making the products, rather than the "quality" of those products. Thus, equity results in a degrading of those products and services, to the detriment of the customer. Customers will then go elesewhere for their products and services. Company goes broke in the process. Secondly, using a selection process of "physical characteristics" is racism. The woke activisits know this, but are trying to hide it by changing the name to "equity". Don't be fooled by it.

Referring to the charts again, no matter how talented or hard-working (ie. orange color) a (unprivileged...oooh scary word) person may be, that person cannot overcome the brown advantage.

I had a series of interviews at Lulu Lemon for a senior IT technical role. Third meeting was with two women in their 20's (I'm 50) who started out with their pronouns, insisted on knowing mine (I don't use them), and then proceeded to lecture me about how D-E-I is "central" to the company. Which is odd, because I thought their business retailed overpriced clothes. This lunacy is running amok.

I never let any of that keep me down, because I’ve always believed the U.S. is the best country on earth, partly because it gives everyone the opportunity to be successful if they are willing to work hard, but it doesn’t owe anyone a living. They are trying to blur the lines between equality and equity. Equality comes into play where opportunity is concerned. Everyone should have the same opportunities. Equity comes into play where results are concerned. The outcome reflects the work put in. Those who put in more work and/or effort will have more "equity" as opposed to those who put in less work or effort. In other words, equal opportunity doesn't necessarily equate to equal outcome.

The NFL is in the entertainment industry. Its goal is to attract the widest audience to its genre of entertainment. To do this it (league) must have teams with a variety of characteristics which will attract certain wide segments of the viewing audience. But at the same time these teams must some semblance of winning efficiency to keep their fans happy. This translates to having athletes who will perform consistently above the norm. This requires money to outbid other franchises which are in competition for the same athletes. This bidding is based upon merit or performance excellence NOT equality or equity. End of story.

If equity is anything like affirmative action they will absolutely lower standards for groups of people to reach a quota. I remember in the early 90's white male's with MCAT scores of over 13 on each section (old point system) and GPA's of over 3.8 getting passed over by medical schools for black students with GPA's of less than 3.2 and MCAT scores they didn't care share. I spoke with students that were involved with admissions and they flat out told me I was the wrong color and sex and would be furious if I knew some of the MCAT scores of students they were letting in because the pressure to reach that quota was so high.

I'd post the link and explain that anything which states "signed" without having "executive order" after it should be ignored in the interest of fairness as a lot of policies are not his alone, but the reason I do not is that youtube has a bad habit of shadow-erasing comments with links so sources they don't want shown

That we should all be treated fairly with equal opportunities and respect for one another. It wasn’t until just a few years ago equity became the goal we’ve been striving for and now it’s about giving more to others or taking away from some based on some arbitrary race-based system.
