- Goodford Model Railway is controlled using the Roco Z21 system and this allows you to apply the throttle on the iPad controller to a specific speed (MPH or KPH). After spending a great deal of time setting up the entire fleet of locos with scale speed it seemed like a good idea to trial multiple trains on one track. The loops are relatively small - taking around 45 seconds to complete 1 circuit at 60mph scale speed.
I managed to get a GWR Castle HST and GWR class 800 running on one circuit and a Cross Country 221 and a double headed class 50 in GBRF livery running a charter special on the other circuit.
The trickiest part of this is ensuring acceleration is taken in to account when starting the second train and actually it was easier to run one to the opposite side of the layout and starting them both off from a standstill at the same time.
All locos are fitted with DCC sound so it was quite noisy with 4 trains running at once.
It certainly opened up the thought process to block detection and multiple train running on the future Goodford MK4….
Excellent running shots, superb layout, keep up the excellent work 👍🚂 Kindest Regards Dave.👍👍👍
