Goodford Model Railway Showcase 5. DB Schenker Class 60 on TEA Tanker Train

- A few clips of the Hornby Class 60, specifically 60100, in DB Cargo livery pulling 18 TEA tank wagons. The wagons are a mixture of the 100T TEA tanks from Cavalex and Revolution trains.
The loco is fitted with a Zimo DCC Sound Decoder with sounds from YouChoos. There was some need to modify the Class 60 coupling to pull this many wagons, it is a known issue with these Hornby locos. A simple fix of filing down the V stops the coupling from sticking when traversing.
All wagons and the loco have been fitted with hunt standard couplings however I needed to superglue the Revolution Trains couplings slightly out of the NEM socket to ensure the buffers didn’t rub and pull the wagons off (tightest curve is around 3rd to 4th radius).
All shots taken on Goodford Model Railway MK3 layout.
Great video and nice locomotive. 😃👍
Absolutely brilliant 😮
They look ace behind that 60, your layout is awesome too!
Lovin the low camera shots on the layout and locomotives . Almost like the real deal 👍👏👏👏👏👏👏🎥
Nice video, enjoyed the running session. Both revolution and cavalex have done a superb job on the TEA’s
All TEA tanks are great however needed a little oil to loosen up and stop the squeaking on the Cavalex. Hunt couplings really help them too. Just wish Hornby would sort out the coupling mechanism on their class 60 - any more than around 8 wagons and it doesn’t work properly out of the box. You’d expect a premium product from the premium price point that they’ve given it.
Lovely details
The Hornby 60 is a superb loco, a perfect match for the TEAs and placed in your beautiful layout. Thanks for sharing and all the best.
Enjoyed your video and like and share thanks DD.
Brilliant sounds on the 60! I’ve got a zimo 60 too and it’s so loud 😆 the tankers look so good together and an impressive looking rake 👍 cheers Darrell
Fabulous rake Dave with some great running shots. Susannah
sweet tanker collection and a nice layout! :)
Great layout. I also moved to a new home, for me on another continent, and am working on a new layout, which I am starting to think might be too large. I model European, specifically Swiss and I relate to filling down the V on close coupling mechanisms. Even though NEM and close coupling has been standard on European models for decades some of the smaller manufacturers have still not got it right. I do have some British trains and I have found that the Marklin/Trix close couplers work better on them than other types. They can also couple to regular mouse trap like couplers if you have some of those on your layout. Many of us model our childhood. In my case that gets confusing as it's UK, USA, and Switzerland. I went for the SBB CFF in the 1950s.
Cool.
Do u have the DB shenker 37
As I do and it is great
I don’t have it as it doesn’t quite fit in to my era of modelling - I’m trying to be as strict as possible to stick to the year 2020, otherwise I’m sure it would be on the list of desirable purchases! 👍
